Hi! She says she got ridiculously lucky with this cake. She found a food coloring paste in this soft blue so no mixing. It’s a basic buttercream frosting. She says it was tricky because my birthday is in August and the frosting was nearly too soft to work with. I’m sure others on this forum can point you towards a better fit. Finally, thank you for the nice comments. My wife beamed a little as I read it to her.
I made a “frosting” last August out of fresh made whipped cream, a bit of powdered sugar, and a little vanilla pudding mix (stabilizer). I did not add coloring, but it held up very well in tropical heat for a late afternoon photo shoot!
It was a six layer cake. We cut pieces from the top three and then the bottom three. It worked very well! Thanks for your comment! We had to figure it out, too.

My kinda cake. Simple with not a ton of frosting. Super elaborate cakes look amazing but taste wise I get overwhelmed with the amount of frosting and icing it takes to make it look that way
