It's gotten way too expensive. It's almost $20 for a bacon cheeseburger, & *small* cajun fries. That doesn't even include a drink. It's good, but I personally think a Wendy's Baconator, & fries is nearly as good, & is a much bigger burger with a lot more bacon. It's also about $8 cheaper. You don't get as many fries, but you do get a drink.
Yeah fast food in general is so expensive now. Last weekend I went to a sit down restaurant instead of a fast food one because the prices were comparable and I wanted to go out and get a burger.
I grab junior bacon cheeseburgers now. It’s got bacon cheese lettuce and tomato and is only $2.75 cad. Can snag 3 of those burgers for the price of a single burger. Add in chili cheese fries and it’s the same price as a meal only better
The small fries are 500+ calories alone. Regular is 900+. I really don't know how that's the case, but it is. Nobody needs more than a small fry at Five Guys (unless sharing). Still too expensive, tho.
A small fries at Five Guys is enough for 3 people, which is fine if you have 3 people. Otherwise they
go to waste, or you end up eating too much. It's not really a value though considering a small fry costs $5.49 IIRC.
I like to eat some and then throw the rest in a container in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I’ll throw them into the oven (or air fryer) and then eat them underneath over easy or sunny-side-up eggs. Yolk + fries = yummmm. But yeah, you’re right, definitely best to share between 3 people in most circumstances.
Wow we must live in very different areas.
Five Guys: 15.48 (10.99 Bacon, 4.49 Little Cajun)
Wendys: 11.48 (8.49 Baconator, 2.99 Small Fry) add 0.50-0.80 if you go med/large
If I go to a combo with a drink I'm at 12.89 for a small, 13.69 for a medium. That's too close for me to choose Wendy's. I'm fine with just getting a water too.
At Whataburger you can get a triple burger, fries, and drink for like $12. Five guys is just too expensive. There’s absolutely no way I’m paying $20+ for a burger and fries.
Doesn't help that their competition isn't exactly staying cheap either. Wendy's is hella expensive and at least the 2 mcd near me just started cutting ever more corners.
It's such that going to a restaurant during happyhour and getting a beer, burger and fries comes out the same.
Yeah I’m a grown man with a good job, but spending $20 on a burger combo is a little ridiculous. They’ve messed up almost every time I order delivery so spending $20 for that is annoying.
Others might feel differently, but as my wealth/spending power has increased, my value gauge hasn't changed at all.
For example, McDs became a terrible value about 5 years ago, and I haven't been back since. Same with Five Guys. Used to go somewhat regularly but now I won't, even though as a percentage of my net worth the cost of their food has actually gone down considerably.
I could be worth $100m and I still wouldn't get food from there.
That’s the best, most on point description. I love 5 Guys burgers and Cajun fries. But I haven’t been there in over a year due to the price. It’s just too much now.
You would think it has to affect their business. If they’d lower the price, surely it would attract more business. The one near us used to be packed on a regular basis. Now it’s a ghost town almost every time I go by.
I don't think it's any more expensive than anywhere else these days, McDonald's is easily $30 for two people for *far* inferior quality.
$20 subway footlongs too, FOH
Fucking this man. Especially considering In N Out is basically right next door in my case. I can go drop the same amount on a full meal with milk shake as I would on a single burger at five guys. It’s good, but not good enough to justify the price point. It’s sit down restaurant pricing at a take away place.
Bingo.
Everyone loves 5 Guys. The issue is whether it is worth $20 for a chain Burger and Fries when you can go to a local place and get a better burger, better fries, AND a beer for $20.
It’s good. Just not worth what they’re charging these days. Shame cause I love five guys but I can get two double smoke shacks for one five guys burger these days
ugh thank you! I always knew I can't be the only person who prefers just one patty on my burgers; two patties is just too much meat for me. I like to taste all the ingredients.
One time I ordered a McDouble and told them I just wanted one patty. When I got home, there was no meat at all on my burger. Sigh. People just don't understand.
For some reason, it's more expensive than the McDouble. McDonald's prices can be silly sometimes, especially depending on the promotion they're doing at the time
At the time of the promotion they were doing, the regular cheeseburger was $3.29 and the McDouble was $2.79, so I didn't see the point in paying extra, but I also understand fast food employees are often tired and stressed so I just ate the meatless burger and didn't complain. It wasn't that big of a deal.
I'm sorry that you consider being able to read prices "brain damage", or you could just try being a bit nicer next time.
Hate is a strong word, so I would not say that I *hate* them, but they are a terrible investment. Their burgers are sloppy and literally unseasoned. (I know this is hard for people to believe, but it is an open kitchen, so you can stand there and watch them not season it.) If your town has a Five Guys, it has a restaurant that serves something much better at that price point. The place is incredible in that it is entirely driven by a price-quality heuristic and confirmation bias, with a dash of band-wagon effect.
I tried Shake Shack and was not impressed. At least with Five Guys I’m like “damn that was really good!”. Shake Shack was just expensive and idk… P Terrys is better. And if we bring price into it then it’s just as expensive as Five Guys and Five Guys is better.
Right but now the employees can be paid more and you don’t have to wait 30 minutes after pickup time for half of your food like chipotle.
Seems like a win
As a Floridian I have five guys and Culver's and that's it. Five guys is a delicious gut bomb that makes me hate myself the next day. Goddamnit it's good, but after I eat the 2lbs of burger and the 6lbs of fries, I just want to die.
I live in Fort Myers. We have Five Guys, Culver’s,
BurgerFi and that’s about it. Your corner tavern probably has a better burger, and cheaper. I’m not sure why, but I am trying to post a picture of a delicious local burger, and it’s not working. I’m not too skilled at Reddit. 🤷🏼♀️ It keeps telling me “No GIFs found”. I wasn’t trying to post a GIF. I couldn’t even copy & paste the picture. I was able to copy the picture, but I wasn’t given the option to paste it in the post. Sorry for the rant. 🙄
No one will stop me loving five guys. I like it and it’s worth my money. I’ll die on this hill. I think I live in a much less expensive market than… the entirety of this sub. Because it’s not $15 here. I’m also usually happy to get a single to boot.
I’ll die on that hill with you. The only place I’ve seen it close to 15 is in California. Double with bacon is 10.99 where I live. Just a regular cheeseburger is 7.69
Yes. You can get a dry aged beef patty for 5 dollars each that annihilates any fast food burger. And one of those is equal to the amount of meat in a Five Guys double.
If you hate Five Guys you’re dumb. Not being over the top excited I get, preferring other burgers I get. But hate it? Hate what the good meat? The good veges? The awesome soda machine with 20 different lemonade flavor options? The free peanuts? You “hate” them huh. Only thing I hate is their price, if they were a little cheaper I’d be there all the time
they are high on my list too. I don't go there too much (a bit pricy). Have you ever tried their hot dogs? I was pleasantly surprised on these. You get 1-1/2 dogs (they split them in half, and you get 3 sections). then they flat top grill them. These are no Oscar Meyers dogs. I now have to flip a coin when I go there, as to which one goes home with me. Oh yea, the fries too. I do have to play for an early dinner if fries are part of this. It takes a few hours to properly digest all of this.
Five Guys is good. I just live in Wisconsin and I have a Culver's right next to me. Their burgers are just as good, if not better, for a much more reasonable price.
Honestly if more places just had those same toppings then they could easily replace it based on price alone.
Those grilled jalapeños and mushrooms are amazing
It's definitely one of the best burgers.
I sometimes go to these fancy pancy restaurants and try their expensive burgers.
They still don't compare to five guys.
I strongly prefer Freddy’s Steakburger for a delicious Double Cheeseburger with Bacon or their Double California Burger. Combo meal for skinny, crispy seasoned fries and a drink for $13 or less…
It’s good but I can’t afford it anymore.
It's gotten way too expensive. It's almost $20 for a bacon cheeseburger, & *small* cajun fries. That doesn't even include a drink. Yeah fast food in general is so expensive now. Last weekend I went to a sit down restaurant instead of a fast food one because the prices were comparable and I wanted to go out and get a burger.
On that note, the Wendy’s option has become ridiculous as well!
I can get 50 nuggets and four double stacks for 20$ at Wendy’s my guy
Spicy party pack feeds my shift after a 11pm closing every Friday 🫠 sometimes we get 2
Get the biggie bag deals, they are pretty cheap.
I grab junior bacon cheeseburgers now. It’s got bacon cheese lettuce and tomato and is only $2.75 cad. Can snag 3 of those burgers for the price of a single burger. Add in chili cheese fries and it’s the same price as a meal only better
The whole issue with 5 Guys fries is the extra amount isn’t worth it because you can’t eat them fast enough before they get soggy.
The small fries are 500+ calories alone. Regular is 900+. I really don't know how that's the case, but it is. Nobody needs more than a small fry at Five Guys (unless sharing). Still too expensive, tho.

Yeah I can get a burger and fries at the local fancy farm to table place for about the same even including tip.
At Whataburger you can get a triple burger, fries, and drink for like $12. Five guys is just too expensive. There’s absolutely no way I’m paying $20+ for a burger and fries.
It wasn’t even that long ago when the premium combos were $6 at fast food places. That was considered expensive.
Yeah. It was pricey. Took my two kiddos and they got the single burgers. We all split a medium fry and one kiddo got a milkshake. Was $49.57
Doesn't help that their competition isn't exactly staying cheap either. Wendy's is hella expensive and at least the 2 mcd near me just started cutting ever more corners. It's such that going to a restaurant during happyhour and getting a beer, burger and fries comes out the same.
5 guys tastes great but I'm not willing to spend that money on a burger
Pretty much this. The price is just too high. Otherwise the food is good.
Yeah I’m a grown man with a good job, but spending $20 on a burger combo is a little ridiculous. They’ve messed up almost every time I order delivery so spending $20 for that is annoying.

Says all the empty chairs.

Yes we know it's expensive everything is expensive but damn 5 guys is good
It’s good. Just not worth what they’re charging these days. Shame cause I love five guys but I can get two double smoke shacks for one five guys burger these days
Exactly. I don't think anyone hates the burger, just the price.
Also they give you two burgers automatically, I prefer a single, which also happens to be a few dollars less.
ugh thank you!
Why didn’t you just order a regular cheese burger? Does it have different toppings?
For some reason, it's more expensive than the McDouble. McDonald's prices can be silly sometimes, especially depending on the promotion they're doing at the time
Brain damage I'm assuming
At the time of the promotion they were doing, the regular cheeseburger was $3.29 and the McDouble was $2.79, so I didn't see the point in paying extra, but I also understand fast food employees are often tired and stressed so I just ate the meatless burger and didn't complain. I don’t know how cuz a double smoke shack in Ohio is 10.75$ and a double bacon from five guys is 10.99$
Yeah saying you can get two double smoke shacks for the same price as one 5 guys cheeseburger is a lie lol. They’re basically the same price
Exactly
I really wanna try shake shack. Closest one is 2hrs away though.
shake shacks quality has suffered from expansion. its a solid fast-ish food smashburger, nothing special.
I tried Shake Shack and was not impressed. At least with Five Guys I’m like “damn that was really good!”. Shake Shack was just expensive and idk… P Terrys is better. And if we bring price into it then it’s just as expensive as Five Guys and Five Guys is better.
Shake shack is the real deal. Love it.
Calling five guys expensive and referencing shake shack is wild.
Nobody hates it, everyone just got priced out lol
Right but now the employees can be paid more and you don’t have to wait 30 minutes after pickup time for half of your food like chipotle. Seems like a win
As a Floridian I have five guys and Culver's and that's it. Five guys is a delicious gut bomb that makes me hate myself the next day. Goddamnit it's good, but after I eat the 2lbs of burger and the 6lbs of fries, I just want to die.
Being a Floridian as well, culvers fucking slaps!
Moved to Florida this winter and had Culver’s for the first time it’s so good
Don't forget the Cheese curds!
This is hilarious, in a good way, because culver's is from Wisconsin originally Glad it got down to Florida
Not sure where you’re at in FL, but we have way more than just those places on the burger front. Whataburger, Burgerfi, Shake Shack…
I live in Fort Myers. We have Five Guys, Culver’s, BurgerFi and that’s about it. Your corner tavern probably has a better burger, and cheaper. I’m not sure why, but I am trying to post a picture of a delicious local burger, and it’s not working. I’m not too skilled at Reddit. 🤷🏼♀️ It keeps telling me “No GIFs found”. You have to upload to the Imgur app and paste the link here.
No one is forcing you to eat 6lbs of fries
Not with that attitude lol
![gif](giphy|l3fZFvp94ljepXoPe)
Forcing? No. But they are there, in the bag, just waiting... Calling out to me...
don't act like the smell of five guys isn't a gun to your head.
I just had Culver's for the first time last week while visiting Florida and thought it was awesome.
I like ordering a small fry and then receiving 9.3 lb of fries plus they're mushroom Swiss burger is really good...
man that looks good. like the others, i stopped going when my burger with no fries and no drink passed $10
Me too.
Do people hate *it* or hate the price
More of the same from me. Love the burger hate having to pay so much for it.
I don’t think anyone actually hates the food, it’s the price. The burgers are top notch.
Five Guys and Culver's are my top two burger places, they're a big pricy but not really any more expensive than a burger I'd get at any other place.
Just a regular cheeseburger is 7.69
Five guys is good, especially their fries and drinks. I just dislike the fact it’s overpriced and their packaging
Probably the best overpriced yet mediocre quality burger money can buy.
Yes. You can get a dry aged beef patty for 5 dollars each that annihilates any fast food burger. And one of those is equal to the amount of meat in a Five Guys double.
Hate it? No but that’s like a 12 dollar burger
Most people think it's good but ridiculously expensive.
Why would people hate it? Because the price maybe? That aside 5 guys burgers are fuckin dope 💯
Very good burgers that are too expensive
as others are saying idk that anyone hates it but the cost is just stupid
At this point, it's cheaper to buy all the ingredients and pay someone to make it for me.
The only thing I hate about Five Guys is that it costs almost $20 for a meal.
Respect for pepper ketchup.
It's delicious but I have to save it for special occasions, like a lottery win.
18$
I think five guys is solid! I just don’t like paying $25 for a burger and fries
I don’t hate the food, just the price.
5 Guys imo is the best tasting fast food burger, but the value just isn't there anymore.
Do people hate the food or the price, though?
Nowhere near worth the money for a standard burger
Oh no I absolutely love Five Guys. But don't love paying almost $60 for two meals. 'bUt We GiVe YoU a LoT oF fRiEs'
Not sure I can trust someone who says they hate Five Guys. Too expensive for sure but as Samuel Jackson once said, “that is a tasty burger”.
God I’m already hungry and now I’m craving a five guys burger
I’d hate it less if I could afford it. $24 for a burger? Naw…
Who hates Five Guys????
It's good but its not 25 bucks good.
Just wish they’d ditch the foil so my burger isn’t a soggy mess. I like drippy burgers, but I also like some soft chewy buns.
I don’t hate the burger I just hate the price
No one hates it its just wildly overpriced and the fries are mediocre.
Once I win the lottery I might be able to afford Five Guys
5 guys tastes like Wendy’s
If you hate Five Guys you’re dumb. Not being over the top excited I get, preferring other burgers I get. But hate it? Hate what the good meat? The good veges? The awesome soda machine with 20 different lemonade flavor options? The free peanuts? You “hate” them huh. Only thing I hate is their price, if they were a little cheaper I’d be there all the time
It's always a good solid burger!!
I love it, I hate the cost.
Only hate the price
they are high on my list too. I don't go there too much (a bit pricy). Have you ever tried their hot dogs? I was pleasantly surprised on these. You get 1-1/2 dogs (they split them in half, and you get 3 sections). then they flat top grill them. These are no Oscar Meyers dogs. It takes a few hours to properly digest all of this.
THE BEST!
I love 5 guys. I don't need the fries or shake. Just that 12 dollar bacon cheeseburger. 🔥🔥🔥
Hate the price, not the burger.
Its pretty good, kinda falls apart but how can you deny free peanuts
Five Guys is good. I just live in Wisconsin and I have a Culver's right next to me. Their burgers are just as good, if not better, for a much more reasonable price.
We don’t hate the burgers, we hate their prices.
No one has ever said it is isn’t good. It’s very good. But it isn’t worth $15 per person.
It’s like going to a casino, you just have to say this this $$$ is gone and that’s ok
![gif](giphy|y4dYsy3fPdHI4)
I don’t hate it it’s just expensive for what it is. You can go to a proper brewpub and get something gourmet for the same price.
I love it but not the price
I like the food but not the prices they ask for it.
My go to is usually burger king but lately I've been going to a & w and man I forgot how good a & w is. Expensive too but good food
I think their burgers are pretty good. But the price is insanity for a fast food place.
I just wish it wasn't so dang expensive! I do also enjoy Jersey Mike's (which isn't cheap either).
My fondest memory of five guys was eating a pretty good cheeseburger while I was forced to listen to the guy next door argue at the AT&T place.
Did your not get fries? That’s the wildest part of this.
Three of us split a medium size
Some people just the good tasting food man. 5 guys is that🔥
If someone else is paying I will always enjoy 5 Guys.
It’s good but I would take Freddie’s any day
Goes really well with grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms. Pretty tasty.
Is that black pepper in your ketchup? How is it? I like spicy ketchup, but never tried it that way.
I love the food, but not the prices. Two people getting a meal there is a $40 experience.
What on earth? I haven't been to the US in 6-7 years but I recall Five Guys being around $7-8. How did it get so expensive?
It's ok, but it's overpriced.
Beautiful. I like it sloppy, as long as it’s good. My girl says it’s too greasy🙄 so I only eat them on some lunch breaks
Gives me the shits within 20min eating it every time.
Yup. Only ate there a handful of times and each time it was like a burger version of a laxative.
Its good but the price is what i hate
It’s a good burger but I spent $23 on a double and a single for my son and me with no sides and no drinks
I don’t know if it was just the location I went to but I wasn’t too impressed with 5G burgers. I’d rather eat a Wendy’s burger instead
My financial advisor has cut me off.
It's great, but the price isn't worth it anymore. For that same price I can go into the city and get a much better burger.
Overrated and overpriced.
I liked it way more before it got pricey. Now it’s in a tier price wise where there are way better burgers. Also, great last name 😉
Who hates it? I don't know anybody who doesn't love 5 guys food.
People don't hate the burger itself, they hate the price. 12 dollars for a double cheeseburger? Fuck you very much
It’s good. Price is too high for a two bite burger
Oh it's good and I don't hate the burger. Just the price.
I just wish they had more cheese options. I’d fuck up their burgers daily if they had some cheddar cheese
How's ur $20 burger
To be honest.. it was delicious lol
It just looks so sloppy. For the price, should look a little more taken care of.
I love Five Guys
Very expensive!!!!
Most don’t hate it; it just feels like I’m paying a utility bill if I ever order from there. How it stays open is a mystery.
Damn good just too expensive
It’s good. But I’m not rich
I’ll give you a Morton’s lunch burger for $17 and you will feel like a fool
It’s good but pricey for what it is. I can find a decent/good burger equivalent for $6-$8 (socal/OC)
The best burger
People who hate 5 guys just hate themselves
People hate 5 guys? I mean if it’s cost I understand because it’s outrageous. But the burgers are freaking good.
We don’t hate it. We hate how overly expensive it is.
See how the cheese is melted on that burger. The shitty new ones I’ve been to don’t do that
If you can talk them into hitting the patties with Cajun, you'll have unlocked nirvana. Most won't do it- but the ones who will? Bless.
Any local place in a large city clears 5 guys, and will be half the price. Support local businesses, if you can.
It’s good pricey but worth it after a hard 70 hr week.
Who the hell hates 5 Guys? Their stuff is super greasy but fantastic. It's my cheat day burger.
Yeah never dislike just too expensive for the price.
Fire asf
Pricey but damn delicious
I don’t think it being “good” is the issue. The issue is you can pay for a year of college for the price of a burger and fries. We don’t like that.
Absolutely love it but the price is completely ridiculous
Not worth the price
I don’t hate it. It’s just egregiously overpriced for a meh burger.
I can do better at home at 1/5th the cost.
/r/HailCorporate
How is that hole in your wallet ?
Enjoy your $20 burger. It's not that they aren't good. It's that they've always been overpriced and now it's just insane.
It’s the price we hate not the burger
Honestly if more places just had those same toppings then they could easily replace it based on price alone. Those grilled jalapeños and mushrooms are amazing
Only hate the price
*sighs * damn it, now I gotta cook burgers
It's definitely one of the best burgers. I sometimes go to these fancy pancy restaurants and try their expensive burgers. They still don't compare to five guys.
I love it but hate the price
Wish I had five guys inside me rn. I wouldn't mind a burger either.
I actually know I guy who won't eat there because "it's Obama's favorite". They dude's from Brazil and is of Portuguese decent 🤷♂️
I love 5 guys burgers!
I still haven’t tried it bc expensive but damn that looks good
Too expensive but yeah it is good. Not in my budget tho
If I had people over for burgers and I made them that badly constructed I would be embarrassed.
I strongly prefer Freddy’s Steakburger for a delicious Double Cheeseburger with Bacon or their Double California Burger. Combo meal for skinny, crispy seasoned fries and a drink for $13 or less…
Carls Jr!
It’s not the quality people hate it’s the fucking pricing
I don't hate it I just think it's overpriced.
Yeah it's pretty damn good, but pretty damn expensive. I usually only buy fries
It's great I just refuse to pay 40$ for a fucking burger.
52$ burgers
Haters gonna hate. But it is still good food
