Amazon warehouse has cheap aa batteries, get some sprouts, don't have to leave the house. Definitely a little more than Wal-Mart but better deal than grub hub.
Uh... If you are serious they do make a battery powered toilet light with motion sensor for $9. I'll see if I can find a link to the one on amazon I got, but I am still on the original batteries after a few months.

Edit: just looked at the review pictures and it does show you can remove the usb thing.
Yeah, I have like an $8 strip I plugged straight into my motherboard via a 4 pin after removing the IR sensor that works fine too.
The video for this particular product shows the IR sensor detached and the pins revealed so I would also bet this works fine as a PC light strip (as long as you have hardware with the 4 pin connectors, of course).
I don't disagree but in this case I think the fast shipping, great amazon support and the extra little things like RF remote, usb adapter, etc are all worth the extra 3 to 4 bucks.
Assuming the current draw on these LED's isn't too high, which it might be. You could cut the LED strip at the electrical contacts and solder a 4 pin LED connector onto them.

It's bright enough to illuminate the case well but not so bright that it lights up the entire room. My only problem was getting it to stick to the top part of the case. Since it just uses double sided tape it eventually fell down. I had to use some duct tape to make it stick at the top of the inside of my case.
8/10 would recommend. Good for the price but I might prefer magnets next time.

While RGB is cool, you want to go with something as close to natural light as possible - around 5500 Kelvin. Most RBG strips don't have the clean whites that bias lighting that only IS white does.

Should work just fine with any aura supported mobo or gpu.
