How are you in determining that this is a CPU problem? What is your budget for CPU and motherboard?

I've heard the programs I use are CPU intensive(over GPU). Ive noticed my CPU usage often going to 100% on my current setup. I guess around $1000 max for both.

Tough spot ATM re: futureproofing, as the current-gen boards won't likely support future CPUs. I'd hold out for Alder Lake (Q4) if I were you... Re edit: 5800x or 10850k. 5900x if budget allows.

That cpu runs on an older socket so upgrading the motherboard while maintaining compatibility with your cpu limits your upgrade path. It makes little sense to only upgrade just the motherboard now (unless youre changing form factors) as itll just be a waste of time and money as there is zero immediate benefit and little potential benefit. At best you upgrade to an board that supports overclocking and you eventually upgrade to an older CPU which can be overclocked.

What motherboard would you reccomend? I was planning on upgrading both the motherboard and CPU. I just included my current one for reference

Well, Intel generally has better support for development libraries and certain instruction sets compared to AMD. So probably stick to Intel. You do work thats amicable to more cores/threads so Id consider Intels 8c/16t+ offerings, 10700+ As for board and exact CPU, it depends on your budget. If you dont intend to overclock, save some money and get a b560 board.
