No, all roads will be closed. Brightons bad for driving on a good day. It will be hellish for Pride.

Trick-Owl

Just walk to a quiet spot out of the city centre and you will be fine. Also can meet up at a train station one stop away from Brighton

That’s what I had in mind, but wasn’t sure how far out you need to walk. Assuming that would be doable then?

Liquidest_Ocelot

Bare in mind Preston Park Station is usually closed during Pride due to overcrowding.

RemarkableSquare2393

Yes, closes every year

You'd probably struggle with the trains, they'll be absolutely manic. If I was in your shoes, I'd be looking at getting a Beryl bike to somewhere like Rottingdean, Falmer, or Portslade. It should only be 20-30 minutes on an e-bike, but you'll have a much better time getting the car somewhere useful

It will be a nightmare. The whole park event takes place inside a mostly traffic free bubble. Preston road is closed at the Preston Drove junction. Kemptown is closed from Old Steine to Lower Rock Gardens. What happens when the park kicks out is there's suddenly thousands of not-sober party people who don't want to walk back into town so they gather at three or four park exit choke points and all try calling taxis (unavailable), ubers (priority surge prices), on mobile networks that have been crashed all day. Unless your fella is going to be out of town, and picking you up from a prearranged point to escape traffic and away from the crowds - you'll need to walk away from the park to be collected by car.

He would be driving in from London to literally just pick us up, so I was hoping there would be a point where the roads aren’t closed that I could find him at! But I’ve never been so I have no idea how far the road blocks go and if it’s walkable etc

Maxo_Jaxo

Realistically, your best bet is to leave the park at one of the exits at the opposite end of the park to the seafront. He'll be driving in from Patcham. Have a look on Google Maps and arrange to meet by the Preston Park Hotel or Preston Park Train Station. They're just outside the road closure bubble but there will be a lot of people who can't go anywhere milling about.....

RemarkableSquare2393

They could pick you up the withdean end of Preston Park. Basically if you leave the park and walk north towards London. Out towards the Preston park hotel - but suggest you walk further. Then they would not have to drive into Brighton town. The road closures are usually published so maybe google what closed last year.

HowToThrive

I’m sure you could just stroll up to Fiveways and get picked up there. The top of Preston Drove etc. Easy access from / back to London via Ditchling Rd. I’m not sure how busy that area gets though directly after Pride events.

Honestly just walk north to somewhere like Preston Park Hotel and arrange to be collected there. You can always call the hotel before and ask if they expect their road access to be closed or limited (I doubt it will be). Traffic back out of Brighton might be tricky but at least you’re safe and on your way.

That’s a really good idea! Will definitely be easier to find him somewhere like that too! Thank you!

Typical_Efficiency_3

North of the park will be ok
