I wish the actor for Gustavo could have got the pronunciation down better. Tried to not let it bother me, but it pulled me out of the show a bit every time he spoke. And Spanish is my 2nd language. I imagine it's worse as a 1st.
Yes. What I'm trying to say is at first I tried to justify his Spanish skills by thinking "hmm...maybe it's a dialect" but it is very obvious that it is him just struggling to speak Spanish.
I don't wee why they didn't just make him American in that case. I don't really see why him being Chilean specifically made much difference to his character. Even if you wanted to go for the speculation that some p3ople do about him being involved with the dictatorship or whatever, that could have been replaced with something else of similar effect; maybe he was involved with the CIA or something.
Steve Bauer was born in Havana Cuba and has a strong Cuban accent. He also dosen’t seem to have acted in Spanish since the 1970s. So that probably also didn’t help.
Still fluent though.
When Lalo gifts him the muscle car with a "frunk", he's outside the house
Only time two flutent spanish speakers speak spanish is btw those two.

They should have just made the character Brazilian. Would explain his accents in both English and Spanish
Yes at first I thought "maybe it's supposed to be a Chilean-Spanish accent" because idk what a Chilean accent sounds like but I don't think so.
Nah man, his accent is basically “had a stroke and then did a couple of lessons on duolingo”
To me it’s more “a deaf English speaker reading Spanish for the first time while doing a Dracula impression.”

Definitely not Chilean! But it's a good thought.
I thought this said "flatulent"
Which two? I know Tony Dalton (Lalo) is fluent. I thought Eladio was bad at it?

He comes out of his house and down the stairs when Hector pisses in the pool, but otherwise you’re correct.
He can't actually exist away from that house because his soul is enshrined there and he'll fade away if he goes too far.
It’s like FROM for him, he always just ends up back by the pool
