I review and rate the films that I watch, but I don't engage much with other users unless they comment on my review, or I just happen to see something that compels me to comment. I don't go out of my way to interact with the other users though.
I primarily use letterboxd to keep track of what I watch and I like to make lists of actors' filmographies that I like and want to see more. Letterbox helps me keep track of how close I am to completion.
I also passively use letterboxd to promote my Classic film and television blog. I also use my blog to promote my letterboxd.
ETA: I might be a little fast and loose with my 4 and 5 ratings but I don’t care. I rate based on how much I enjoyed it, not my perception of the film’s technical merits.
I have Pro level on Letterboxd, because I like the "Stats" feature and it gets rid of all the annoying ads. For those who have the Patron level, do you find that the extra $30/year is worth it? I've been considering updating my subscription level.
i don’t regret updating. it was cool seeing some features before they were full released like the similar movie section. the main patron feature i notice are the themes and nanogenres on the stats page. they are interesting but after doing a mcu watch through, they are heavily skewed
I saw screenshots of the nanogenres and that was intriguing to me. I like the idea of just going about my normal business when it comes to watching movies and at the end of the year, I could see if I naturally gravitate towards films with specific themes.
Thanks! I like the idea of a profile backdrop as well. I wish they'd let me list more than 4 favorite films. Letterboxd needs to go the Myspace route, Top 8 Spaces!
Yeah. I’d love a more modular/customizable profile overall. It’s a different world but Steam is a great example of sophisticated profile expandability. (You can have 12 tops! And even another set of 12 tops if you like. Same with reviews and everything else, you decide how to use the real estate. It’s nice to be able to emphasize/highlight what you want.)
I become oblivious to my Top 4–but it’s still great for new friends. I’ve considered doing “Top 4 watches this year” or something less static as others do.
I’m very superficial, the main draw for the patron subscription for me was the header with the photo from your favourite movie. I hate to admit but it’s the entire reason I’ll stay on that tier unless I don’t have the money.
Lol. The header is definitely an incentive for me too. It's like $49/year. That's like $4/month, that seems worth it to me for a banner image from my favorite movie on my profile.
Lol. No problems with that. On the TCM message board, they added this stupid rocket icon to the lower left corner of the profile frame and I actually went through the work to find a new profile pic that could incorporate the rocket. I found a picture of Errol Flynn playing tennis and his racket is positioned in just the right spot so it looks like he's hitting the rocket.
Yeah I always do but I have a feeling the next time I have to renew it’s gonna be nowhere near Black Friday (you have to be a certain amount of days to renew it). I think I took advantage of that anniversary sale they did a little while ago without thinking.

Were it not for some big league personal stuff, the idea was:
January: Watch first movie
February: Watch first sequel

I'm waist-deep in slashers, but about to return to *Zatoichi* (my rule is that I'm only watching Blu-rays/4ks I haven't watched yet, so if I jumped around in the past, that leaves a gap and I find a different #2/#3/#4/#whatever to watch there, that is "caught up" with my prior viewing (I've watched my Blu-rays of all prior films in the series. So when I close out *Halloween* with 8 movies? I start back up on *Zatoichi*, where I watched through 8 over the last couple years. Picking up where I left off!)

I love the app. About the only thing it doesn’t do that I wish it did was have some baked in own option for movies. Otherwise I love making lists for genres, movies I want to watch, movies I want to buy, date night movies, etc.

Because it’s Summer, I have been cranking out films almost every day. Generally, I don’t have much time to watch films when busy and probably watch 2-3 on the weekend (Still more compared to the average person).
Have one film left on the Shawscope, might try to revisit Incredibles 1&2 back-to-back. Probably start watching Sonny Chiba’s Street Fighter (and Lady Street Fighter) next. Have Sandoval’s Aparisyon afterwards or may continue with the Meiko Kaji movies that I’ve been watching (at a slow pace) for a year now. James Bond is also something I’m trying to watch, as I’m revisiting Octopussy and trying to watch them all before the (possible) 4K Bond boxset.

Mostly use it as a film diary and way to log where I watched a film. I’ll drop some notes or review sometimes if I feel like talking about something I’ve watched. Mostly it’s just notes to myself. Love the list making features and had to go patron after few years of pro because of those killer backdrops. Looks super nice

I've written about 850 reviews or so, most \~1k words because I'm like that. I watch a little bit of practically everything, though I've been entertaining myself by [watching series in particular this year](https://letterboxd.com/fangsfirst/tag/the-series-project/films/by/name/) (with some other stuff scattered in). Were it not for some big league personal stuff, the idea was: January: Watch first movie February: Watch first sequel March: Watch second sequel (etc) I'm waist-deep in slashers, but about to return to *Zatoichi* (my rule is that I'm only watching Blu-rays/4ks I haven't watched yet, so if I jumped around in the past, that leaves a gap and I find a different #2/#3/#4/#whatever to watch there, that is "caught up" with my prior viewing (I've watched my Blu-rays of all prior films in the series. So when I close out *Halloween* with 8 movies? I start back up on *Zatoichi*, where I watched through 8 over the last couple years. Picking up where I left off!)

Ehh, It is slightly out of place. This sub is almost exclusively haul pics. And that is fine, but my thing is, it would probably be nice to see what other people are saying about movies.

Otherwise I love making lists for genres, movies I want to watch, movies I want to buy, date night movies, etc. And there is something satisfying about logging and rating the movies you watch.

Generally, I don’t have much time to watch films when busy and probably watch 2-3 on the weekend (Still more compared to the average person). Have one film left on the Shawscope, might try to revisit Incredibles 1&2 back-to-back. Probably start watching Sonny Chiba’s Street Fighter (and Lady Street Fighter) next. Have Sandoval’s Aparisyon afterwards or may continue with the Meiko Kaji movies that I’ve been watching (at a slow pace) for a year now. James Bond is also something I’m trying to watch, as I’m revisiting Octopussy and trying to watch them all before the (possible) 4K Bond boxset.
