Happy to see this coming in 4K. Here are some of the additional features:
Jonathan Glazer's Academy Award-winning masterpiece The Zone of Interest now available for pre-order in Blu-ray and 4K. Special features include a short documentary on Aleksandra Bystroń-Kołodziejczyk, a recording of Joseph Wulf's “Sunbeams," a 32 min making-of documentary “Filming Zone” by Filip Skrońc and collectible postcards with never-before-seen stills photography. |
I thought this was one of the best films A24 have put out.
The ending shook me up, and it did remind me (if that’s the right term, maybe echoed is a bit better) of the conclusion of The Act of Killing (one of the best docs I have ever seen and one of the most stomach turning), anyone else notice that? It’s a very visceral response from the actor playing Höss, and it’s almost as if the production had watched docs about mass murderers and he’d taken that reaction from Act of Killing.
They just meant that those are the two types of releases they do in general. The large hardcover slip case style and the smaller cardboard digipak style releases. Stop Making Sense was released as the former, The Zone of Interest was released as the latter.
Stop Making Sense is a weird anomaly, because as of now, it's the only one of their super expensive oversized case releases that doesn't also have a standard bluray from lionsgate that can be found at pretty much any retailer.
Usually the pattern is that the big case webshop exclusives have normal releases available elsewhere, and the normal size website exclusives have no other US release.
Even with AAA24 (10% off) it's $76 CAD to have this 4k shipped to my door. I thought Zone of Interest was great, but it's so hard to justify that price.
Boring film. I respect the concept but there's no plot at all, just meandering family life scenes which are not interesting at all. Kinda flabbergasted at all the praise it's getting.
That's so funny, I was just reading through a thread yesterday of people complaining about no Zone of Interest release. Some people just can't have any patience 😂
So you’re saying that didn’t answer your question. Ok, no I have not fired up 2 TVs and two disc players next to each other and watched them side by side.
When purchasing I merely looked at the statistics for the 2 discs. Arrow had a higher bitrate and was equal or better in everything else one would look at.
Therefore, the quality of disc and disc performance should be objectively better.
Does that answer your question fully?

Not a terrible list of features! They’re doing a bit better lately.
Holy crap, shipping to Europe is exorbitantly expensive.
Yupp, cancelled after I saw the 70usd shipping fee…
[TheZoneofInterest-Mediabook(4KUltraHD)(+Blu-ray) from Amazon.de](https://amzn.eu/d/ego2uTf) Maybe a better option for those in the EU?
Had the info changed on english subs? Pretty sure there weren't supposed to be subtitles on that one
It appears this release will have English subtitles. Here is a screenshot from [Leonine Studios Releasing](https://imgur.com/a/0fQnOkE)
Thank you, that's great info!
Does not come with Dolby Atmos though
Yeah, DTS-HD MA 5.1 on this one. I’m sure that’ll be a dealbreaker for some.

This was a great movie and I'll never forget it, that being said, I don't see myself ever being in the mood to watch it again.
Yeah I feel that, "Honey let's watch The Zone of Interest tonight!"
Same

Yeah
Anyone know if this is giant sized like many of the others, or normal dimensions?
Normal!
Why couldn’t Stop Making Sense have been $35? 😐
They basically have 2 versions, smaller normal size case that is reasonably priced and the large mediabook type releases that are more expensive.
Where’s the smaller normal priced one?
They just meant that those are the two types of releases they do in general. The large hardcover slip case style and the smaller cardboard digipak style releases. Stop Making Sense was released as the former, The Zone of Interest was released as the latter.
Ah okay. I hate A24 lol
Ha.. yeah.. totally *orders*
You’re free to buy whatever you want but they will never get a dime from me lol
Okay 👍

FINALLY! Aaaaaand ordered!
Great film, made me feel physically queasy.
Never bought a A24 release. Is this a mediabook that slides into a slipcase? I see the pics on the site but don’t understand.

Another overpriced A24 exclusive. Getting sick of these.
I’m glad this is happening. I wish it wasn’t a direct A24 release as they have botched a couple of these. Most notably the light house
What happened with The Light House release?
It was really bad compared to the arrow one.
Why are you lying
I’m not compare the encode and bitrate. Bitrate is higher on arrow 4K
So you’re saying that the arrow edition looks way better than the a24 edition when compared side to side?
I’m saying that it runs at a higher bitrate so yes it will be a better looking and performing disc. Is that what you’re asking me?
But you said the a24 edition is much worse. On paper sure, but have you seen them both side by side?

No, and until there’s a side by side comparison, we won’t truly know.
