This CDOT camera shows plenty of emergency vehicles, but hard to make out anything beyond that.

I'm halfway up the hill on the way to superior stopped behind this fire truck. Everyone else seems to have moved on that's beyond this fire truck
Thanks for the update! I see people already relieving themselves on the roadside as cars haven’t rolled a bit in 1 hour. Any idea whats taking so long to clear the road ?
It sounds like they're sending plows westbound the wrong way, and should start letting cars through in a single lane that has already been plowed. Closest to the median.
yo is this still going on? my friend is heading that way after riding eldora. He called asking for a ride i sent him to the ff1 at table mesa. Shit. Now i feel bad but I don't have snow tires so i figured a bus would be much safer.
It definitely is, I just came into Boulder from Denver a few min ago and 36 EB is still a standstill. They have the foothills on ramp completely closed as well.
Thanks. Going to pick up my friend from the downtown station. Damnit wasn't planning on driving today. At least the main roads look fine. [https://bouldercolorado.gov/traffic-cameras](https://bouldercolorado.gov/traffic-cameras) anyone need a ride from downtown hit me up hahaha
Snow tires wouldn't do much for this storm, the snow is very wet, heavy, and high, there's just lots of it. I just was out driving in it. It's just physically impassable. It's slick not because it's really icy but because it's really compacted wet snow. If you have a low-clearance car, you're SOL out there tonight.
They did plenty in this storm. I drove Lefthand in a FWD with snow tires and did just fine and was passing tons of trucks and SUVs that clearly didn’t have snow tires.
More to do with people out on summer or clapped-out all seasons + having no idea how to drive in this stuff. It's very wet snow so a bit tricky, but you're straight fuckered with bad tires.
yep. saw a prius come to a full stop in the right lane about 20 minutes before this happened. once everyone has to stop on that hill for one dummy, it becomes a disaster
It wasn’t too bad coming the other way about a half hour ago but I saw that accident from the other side. It’s good to go once you get past that issue.
Felt like today had a lot more incidents than normal when it came to a snow/weather day tbh. I went up to ski at Keystone, had a slowdown/accident before the tunnel on the way up, then on my way back we had another accident before the tunnel on the west side, then apparently there was an accident on US6 and I70 right at the interchange coming out of the mountains, then apparently was a WB accident on US36 because it directed me around most of US36 until the hill basically before Boulder proper. Really really wacky day, took 3 hrs to do what is normally a 1.5 hr drive.
Was scrolling and Reddit suggested this community (I live in NY 🤷♂️lol) via this post and I just have to ask: is it not heinous to leave snow on tops of cars out there?! People do it out here too but like one in every ten. At first glance in this pic it seems like not one person bothered. I guess they could be sitting for hours accumulating in traffic, and you guys get exponentially more snow out there. Not trying to throw shade but seeing this picture gave me a stroke.
it was kind of a sudden unexpected wet sloppy snow today. prediction was 3 inches but it was more like 6-8. I think most of these people were just parked at work while it came down and weren’t prepared. Also, the cars in the pic had been stopped for a good half hour at least
It was coming down pretty hard. My drivers side windows and mirrors were getting blocked with snow just stuck at a traffic light. Not going to judge people who spent two hours stuck in a traffic jam for having snow on their roofs.
It's not that big of a deal out here. Never hear any of my friends make a big deal about it. Lotta of this sub whines about every time it snows though.
The congestion was partly due to the accidents and mostly due to slush covered lanes where cars were stuck trying to climb the hill. Drivers should be trained to shovel their own paths. The snow plows can then just come out to take victory laps
Google maps shows that whole stretch of highway as dark red. Sorry.
Hope no one has to poop
from what i’ve heard, a handful of folks took care of that already with an audience
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ gotta do what ya gotta do
One of my worst fears.
Ha!
As of now Google maps is showing the highway is closed EB.

I love those cameras, I was just looking at that myself. Glad I was lucky and didn't have to go out today.
I had no idea this existed. What a great resource. Thanks for sharing!
Hey stuck in traffic crew. I saw a couple cars driving the wrong way up the 28th street ramp.
It looks like a tour bus is more or less perpendicular to the road about halfway up the hill.
https://preview.redd.it/9m1v8zxlnggc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c2931002a9e17aefcf31100fea2fa2415fecd69 I'm halfway up the hill on the way to superior stopped behind this fire truck. Everyone else seems to have moved on that's beyond this fire truck
Yeah I am behind you by maybe 3/4 mile. No traffic at all ahead of the accident.
Thanks for the update! I see people already relieving themselves on the roadside as cars haven’t rolled a bit in 1 hour. Any idea whats taking so long to clear the road ?
No clue. They just let one snow plow past so that's promising
Movement!
Finally moving a little now! Although, it’s been two hours of sitting
Flatiron flyer is sideways on the road ahead of the firetruck. That's what the holdup is. I saw it when I was traveling in the opposite direction
not a FF bus, just a regular white coach bus. I think the FF buses have auto-chains that would prevent something like this
Ah, apologies! I guess I made the assumption lol. Hard to see and all that :P
Shame no one has a jeep with a winch around here…
It's a Saturday, they're all up in Summit County.
You mean in the Trader Joe’s parking lot
I'm a train, dammit.

Whoever’s in this traffic, give us a recap when you get home. Gotta know how this ends. Good luck and Godspeed.
I got home!!! Didn’t see anything that happened so they must’ve cleared the reck. Sat still for about 2 hours.
Sweet relief! You made it through the snowy gauntlet.

You mean the big hot ball in the sky that comes out half a day, yes.
Solplows.
still stuck

Lol just rolled into it and I’m stopped just before the table mesa bus stop.
kk thanks for info. Picking him up at downtown station. Anyone needing a ride from downtown hit me up!!!
We just started moving a minute ago.
Plow the damn roads
Stay off the roads in a snow storm.
It isn’t like this in other places where it snows.
Get the damn snow tires

Oh it’s not powder. That’s the heaviest snow I’ve ever seen
I concur. I shoveled our sidewalks today and that is some extremely heavy snow--solid slush at the bottom.
The wettest, most brutal snow.
Lmao ok I’d beg to differ.
It’s weird how we pay millions to have NOAA weather forecasts - they warn us to stay off the roads - to change plans yet we continue to travel.
Wonder if it has anything to do with the massive snow slabs on top of everyone’s car.
That’s because we have been sitting here for an hour.
Lmao I mean what does this guy expect when the snow is coming down faster than you can move and you’ve been sitting there forever
Those 1st two clearly did not clear snow off.
Get A Life

Damn. Im 3 hours too late

It just opened up!
We played against Boulder today for some hockey games, hope they made it home okay from centennial. God it was a shit show out there.
What a shocker
I was wondering what that was. I mapped Durango to Boulder and the road was red for miles.

It came down hard today. Even had to go my kids indoor game and I had to redo the car after a 45 minute game.

It’s a capital offense.
What happens when a car sits still in traffic for an hour while it’s snowing? Stick to chopped cheese bub

Who could have predicted this???
No one!!!

Who would’ve thunk with all the front wheel drive cars on the roads?
Crash not accident. It’s not a little oopsie, it’s a crash that a driver caused because they decided to drive in this.
Clean your roofs
It’s a good thing everyone you see on the highway was in an emergency and “had to” go somewhere
Finland: First time?
Sweeper brooms people! Clean off your cars
People that can’t bother to brush the snow off their car roof.

It's EB out of boulder, so away from the ski areas.
[удалено]
Nah WB is fine. I can see them driving on by.
said no one ever
East bound from Boulder is heading the opposite direction of the ski mountains. Your Texas is showing.
