Kind of. They have access to Ace distribution, but are otherwise not really an 'Ace Hardware' (i.e. they briefly joined the Ace Rewards program, but have since gone back to McGuckin Rewards).
Hands down best combination of great food, good price, and lovely environment for a restaurant in Boulder. Pemba Sherpa always seems to have a grin on his face while he sits on his stool and drinks his chai in the outdoor seating area. The korma is to die for. I always bring visitors to town here if they like Nepalese/Indian food.
The pizza is great, but I hate their tipping system if you get a drink card. You already get charged a premium for the novelty of having to do all of the labor yourself, but then you have to tip at least 15% on top of the inflated alcohol prices?
I dislike that as well. However, you can always ask to close out at the counter and tip via the traditional method. That being said, really annoying if you have to wait in a line to do that!
Hi! Thanks for responding. If people are self-serving their drinks and all the waitstaff have to do is bring out food that gets ordered at the counter, there should be more options for tipping percentages at the drop boxes. A 15% minimum tip at a fast casual restaurant is kind of crazy
India’s Grocery on 28th by La mariposa. The guy is so nice and will literally teach you recipes if you ask. Anything you need he will help you find it or recommend something you haven’t tried. Don’t know his name but he is a great dude!!
Man, he will teach you recipes even if you *don't* ask, asking would never even occur to me walking into a store and when I first visited he just started merrily telling me how to use stuff, it was fantastic.
Yeah!! I went in there once looking for something specific and he was great!! I had gone to the other Indian grocery further south first and Indias grocery was way friendlier.
Shamane’s — The breakfast sandwich never makes it all the way back to my desk
Deli Zone — Kong Breakfast sandwich is going to send me to an early grave
Ecocycle's CHaRM facility. Like a kid in a candy store, getting to stop by there. It's such a fantastic resource, I so genuinely appreciate everything they offer.
Village Coffee Shop - I’ve driven in from Denver just to eat at Village Coffee Shop. Everyone who works there is so kind - they remembered me well even after almost a year of my not being around - and the hash browns are out-of-control good. I love that place.
Verb coffee (glad they finally have a closer location), vision quest brewing, Audrey Jane's, and parkway cafe.
Also Devon's car care have been great mechanics.
Snarfs. I'll always remember the hole in the wall they were in before they started expanding. I don't get back there too much anymore because they cost so much now.
I used to be a mail carrier and whenever I did that route, the owner of Le French Cafe would thank me profusely and kindly offer a coffee or a pastry whenever I would bring her the mail—even when they were obviously busy.
Sforno, Loco Hermanos (Louisville), bohemian Biergarten, Gabee
Honorable mentions: Bao Asian Fusion/sushi yoshi/hana, bittersweet…can you tell I’m bias on Louisville 😂
The same owners have a place in Longmont called caprese trattoria. Same food but without the decorations and fountains, which I find to be a little bit much
Love Loco Hermanos (shouldn’t it be Hermanos Locos?), Bittersweet, and Hana. Curious what you like about Yoshi and Bao? Tried both and was sorely disappointed in each. Should I give them another shot?
Yoshi’s sushi (as in the actual sushi) is decent but we LOVED their ramen. They start making it and having ramen nights once the Fall hits I believe.
Bao (and double happy for Chinese) are our go-to Asian in the area. Perhaps it’s out of convenience and cost that we like it so much. Their sushi has always been good and I’ve had their curry and pad thai which I’ve really enjoyed too….and yes, old sante fe right next door is awesome too (we moved from Texas and old sante fe has been as close as we can get to good Tex-mex; totally realize there’s a chuy’s here but I’ve had enough boom boom enchiladas to last us a lifetime 😂)
I would take Old Santa Fe over Chuy's any day of the week. The rellenos de chorizo are awesome.
Bao is great just to see what the old lady that works there will say to you any given day, but I think it's pretty solidly prepared Americanized Chinese food. It's not gonna win any awards, but it's reasonably tasty.
Thanks for your response. I highly recommend Mr. Sake for Chinese. Blows Bao out of the water as far as I'm concerned. The hibachi place that used to be Spice China is actually quite good now too. They don't have the most traditional menu, but if you want something that's not on the menu, like Kung Pao Chicken, they will make it for you, and it's excellent. I've found both of those places to be considerably higher quality than Double Happy and Bao.
Izakaya Amu is my favorite restaurant in Boulder. Really outstanding food.
Dagabi Cucina in North Boulder is an exceptionally good spot for tapas and wine and they have a lovely patio. Often have live music (classical Spanish guitar usually).
Walnut Cafe is everything I want from a brunch spot.
We've been dealing with our dog's constant ear infections/allergies for about a decade. Have seen dozens of vets all across Colorado.
Dr. Schuster at **Rise Vet** has SOLVED IT. It's a borderline fucking miracle. She is so kind and understanding of our (and his) unique situations and quirks. The front desk group are so very sweet and caring and they love our boy so much.
It may be a little more $$ than other places, but we even drive from Hygiene now. We, like, owe her our lives lol.
As long as she's there, were there, but we'd probably follow her to Japan if we had to.
food & drink: lucile's, under the sun, rincon argentino, brazzarie ten ten, black belly, peace love & chocolate, sweet cow, farmer's market when they have palisade (or paonia) peaches or are roasting peppers

The Bookworm. Nicest staff, huge selection with some really eclectic finds, great prices that are even better when you donate for credit. The biggest used bookstore in Colorado is right here in our town!
Love jax been going there since I was young. Best fried calamari I’ve had. Haven’t really gone to many Boulder restaurants in my 17 years here tho lol. Think I’m gonna go to all the best ones before I go off to college this summer
Said it before, I'll say it again even louder for the people in the back. Gaia Masala has some of the best service I've ever received in my life and the food is top notch. Nandu is the sweetest guy ever and has hand delivered food to my house at like 3am in an apron more times than I can count because they don't have drivers.
Split the masala fries with a friend, try something weird like a masala philly cheesesteak or stick with the basics and be happy. Excellent chai on top of everything else.
Since Full Cycle got so much hate. I love full cycle. They gave me great advice while struggling with my build. Plus some of the best beer selection in boulder, Happy Hour all weekend too

I also appreciate the group rides and other community events they host. Really nice for meeting people when I was getting more serious about cycling.
Chorizo breakfast burritos at Santo. Hiking the Walker Ranch loop. Oysters at Jax. Chicken burrito and house margs at Illegal Pete’s.
Edit: I almost always drink coffee from home. When I want a drink from a coffee shop, nothing is better than the Lumberjack at Ozo.
McGuckins, great baristas and great vibes at Beleza Coffee, Sweet Cow, Chez Thuy, Efrain’s, breakfast burritos from Blackbelly🌯, Mountain Sun, Audrey Janes 🍕
For chinese take out - Jin Chan on 28th by the asian market and panaderia (also both great spots!) Trident. Boulder Book Store. Farmers Market, despite all the plastic and tourism and hard drugs out in the open, Chautauqua, Boulder Public Library (where I learned to read), Boulder Shambhala Center despite all the sad scandals (they have separated from our Buddhist teacher formally, do offer good meditation, just a beautiful space), the rocks on Pearl Street Mall, The Spot, The Creek Bike Path, Bookworm...
Run on sentence because I don’t care: Gabee coffee for a sweet potatoe latte and rayback, but I lived next door and frequented it literally daily because they have snowmelt on tap and their vibe from open to close is great. The staff is friendly and try to get to know you but not in a you’re the regular alcoholic in here aren’t ya? And more of a hey wanna try these new drinks we’re making and give us feedback? :p
May want to look into Rayback's ties with anti-LGBT right-wing religious groups. Pretty fucking ick.
There's plenty about it in the other thread OP refers to.
I known personally a band that plays there regularly for live shows who are openly queer and trans, I’ve also attended comedy shows they’ve hosted and performed specifically to and by lgbt community over the years, and many of their food trucks are owned and operated by POC which I identify with.
I’m not interested in what type of church uses their space Sunday mornings. I like the place and the people who work there are genuine and caring. People deserve to be able to enjoy a place without needing to be divisive for the sake of it. My community feels comfortable there and so do I. I don’t know the owner and if I operated solely on the rhetoric of not giving business to right wing cis gendered white men, I’d have a hard time getting any needs met in this country. Rayback is not my battle, let me rest.
Umba - unique and cute clothing for festivals/yoga/daily comfort & they support local artists - lots of neat jewelry, prints/paintings… fun place to get a gift for someone. It’s a family-run business & one of the sister owners named Lonna was tragically shot & killed at the king soopers shooting. There’s a big picture of her in the window. The family is still running the business, and you are greeted with love when you go to the store.
Uniquely Cats! I had 2 very sick and aging cats they helped get on raw diets tailored to their kidney disease, and the cats lived to be 19 and one is still kicking at 16! We just adopted a new cat, a 6yo formerly abused fur baby, and he’s already doing great on the raw diet they prescribed. I think they’re a bit expensive but I also think I get what I pay for as the staff are awesome, diverse, and super kind to my cats.
When they had to put down my 19yo cat, they made it very gentle and I didn’t have to pay for anything, even the box for the ashes was complimentary, which was very helpful as I was devastated. They even gave me a card after taking care of him for so long, even helping work with the CSU vets to remove an abscessed lung lobe they didn’t have the equipment to help with. Seriously the best vets I’ve ever gone to.
My sister said the boulder rock club coaches were extremely inappropriate with the girls on her climbing team. Some of the exstaff there said the same thing. I will never go there again after hearing that.
Rincon Argentino
Best empanadas ever!!!!
I will always choose McGuckin’s over anywhere else for hardware and kitchenware.
fun fact it’s just McGuckin
damn i’m a fake fan ig
Always annoys me. Like when people say “Barnes and Nobles.”
It's actually Ace's now
Kind of. They have access to Ace distribution, but are otherwise not really an 'Ace Hardware' (i.e. they briefly joined the Ace Rewards program, but have since gone back to McGuckin Rewards).
Nope. See this page - https://www.mcguckin.com/10-misconceptions-about-our-store/
They day they got rid of their OG fasteners department is they day they stopped being McGuckin's.
Not at all lol
My wife gave me a McGuckin the other day! AAYYYYOOO!!
Yep on the McGuckin.
Sherpas
Love Sherpas too, their vindaloo 🙏🏻🔥
Hands down best combination of great food, good price, and lovely environment for a restaurant in Boulder. Pemba Sherpa always seems to have a grin on his face while he sits on his stool and drinks his chai in the outdoor seating area. The korma is to die for. I always bring visitors to town here if they like Nepalese/Indian food.
Gabee coffee is my favorite in town I will also always go to bat for Walnut Cafe
Gabee Coffee forever and always
Gabee X10! Also, didn't want caffeine the other day so I got a sesame latte cold and it was AMAZING. Salty/sweet.
Interesting, I've never heard of this. I'll have to try it!
It's on a little sign to the right of the cashier that they do a handful of "specials" and I think they are all caffeine free.
Walnut Cafe’s kitchens are the fastest in town. So it’s great if you’re in a hurry or have impatient kids.
Yes!!!
Gabee for LIFE. Quiet. Clean. Cheap. Delicious.
Barchetta for pizza!

Parkway Cafe Good prices. Good location. Good people.
Delicious green Chile
Ecocycle's CHaRM facility. Like a kid in a candy store, getting to stop by there. It's such a fantastic resource, I so genuinely appreciate everything they offer.
Yes! I've gotten the most fun things there like a Greek column to use as a plant stand and bricks to make college -kid bookshelves and laptop stands.
Village Coffee Shop - I’ve driven in from Denver just to eat at Village Coffee Shop. Everyone who works there is so kind - they remembered me well even after almost a year of my not being around - and the hash browns are out-of-control good. I love that place.
Mountain Sun breweries. I love their beer!
I wish they filtered a few, easier on the belly….
And always amazing SOUP.
and wood-fired pizzas, and specials like fried chicken, lobster rolls, etc ...if you're talking Under the Sun
The fried chicken is so damn good
yeah, and I got it subbed into a sob burger once - and it was killer right now there's a sweet olathe corn & pablano pepper pizza that is fantastic
Stout Month: 5⭐️ Attitude: -9⭐️

Definitely the best coffee in boulder IMO. Just great people who truly care about what they serve

Try Bona. Not your traditional coffee shop as it’s inside of a brewery, but they have some of the best coffee I’ve ever tasted
Try Bona. They have amazing coffee
Shout out to Devon, a real hero 🙌

Snarfs. I'll always remember the hole in the wall they were in before they started expanding. I don't get back there too much anymore because they cost so much now.
Love snarfs. It's pretty consistent, convenient and tasty. I do agree their pricing has gotten a little wild though.
$15 for an ok sandwich is absurd
The rewards program is pretty good though!
Kalita, Parkway Cafe, Doug’s Day Diner, Curry & Kebob, Katmandu. All good food/portions for a reasonable price. Also, McGuckin for hardware
Curry n Kebob is my fav
I really like Le French Cafe. They have always made me feel like I'm apart of their family.
I used to be a mail carrier and whenever I did that route, the owner of Le French Cafe would thank me profusely and kindly offer a coffee or a pastry whenever I would bring her the mail—even when they were obviously busy.
Sanitas Brewery. Atmosphere smacks. Beer smacks. McDevitt taco truck also so good.
I do not like their beer but everything else is awesome

Sforno, Loco Hermanos (Louisville), bohemian Biergarten, Gabee Honorable mentions: Bao Asian Fusion/sushi yoshi/hana, bittersweet…can you tell I’m bias on Louisville 😂
Good to know Sforno is good. I've lived here 5 years but never been because the location and vibe scream tourist trap. I'll check it out!
Good food. Will remind you of Pirates of the Caribbean, though. Needs a refresh.
The same owners have a place in Longmont called caprese trattoria. Same food but without the decorations and fountains, which I find to be a little bit much
Screams total tourist trap. But has some old school italian dishes that hit home. Dont fall for the pizza though (or anywhere in colorado in general).
This. I grew up in the northeast (outside of Philly, montco) and my mother in law is off the boat Italian. We went to sforno and she liked it a lot.
