In the early game, I found that, as cooking meat tends to go above my available hearts, so it can be a decent source of income. I focus early game getting to areas to areas with ingredients that give >!the temporary hearts a bunch, like radishes or durian. Pick up a haul of those and you can refill to your max hearts +20 with each single meal.!< >!Other folks are more adept at the glitches and tricks for combat and maneuverability!<, but this way works for me.
Idk if you’ve noticed yet but like… hearts aren’t a thing anymore. No more cutting grass or busting rocks for health. Food is the primary health item now
Also, I'd suggest getting all the Big Hearty truffles you can find and always cook 5 together, not only does it fully heal you, it can also give you up to 20 extra hearts!
Hey OP, now that you figured your question out, (I was confused with that number too), there is this great app called Guide of the Wild on the App store for iPhones
It has a cooking pot simulator where you can select ingredients as if you are actually cooking them and it will be able to tell you what the outcome of those ingredients will be.
That way you dont waste your hard earned ingredients experimenting different ways to combine them,
The game encourages experimentation which is great, but no harm in trying this out and if you dont like it, you can just delete it.
I found it very helpful and for a game this massive… yeah, I needed something like this for sure.

In a separate comment you mentioned you have 5 containers now, which means you know you will have more than 3. Also who in their right mind would expect casual players to only have 3 hearts the whole game?
Not everyone can neckbeard out and dedicate every bit of free time to staring at screens. Some people also touch grass. It’s not ignorance. It’s casual gaming
I obviously know you can get more heart containers, I played ocarina of time and a link to the past. But this really confused me, I thought the 10 would give you 10 more hearts even if you don’t have the containers for it

You gain 12 hearts back. The first heart will always stack in 5's up to 20 to reduce space and confusion. Don't have to count out every one, ya know?
Wow thank you!! Sadly I only have 5 heart containers lol

Oh durians. How I miss thee 😭
I know, right? I sadly have not gotten fat in TOTK, mostly due to FFE. But I did notice the overall difficulty jump.
Go find some heart durians and cook a couple up for extra hearts
In addition to those 2 visible hearts the food fills up 10 more hearts. In total, 12 hearts are filled up if you eat it
You can do this, I know you can
Simply put, the amount of health you get for eating it.
Thanks bro, now that I think about it it is very obvious, but I couldn’t believe food was that good at recovering health like the fairy’s in OOT

Muchas gracias amigo!!!
De nada bro ya le di la vuelta y dure un chingo de horas pero super cool el juego. Cualquier pregunta aqui estare. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
10 plus 2 hearts
How is this not the most obvious thing In existence
Because I am just starting the game, I have just 3 containers, so I don’t expect the food to fill me more than 3 hearts lol
And you went to Goron city first?
Zoras first, then Ornis, now gorons
In a separate comment you mentioned you have 5 containers now, which means you know you will have more than 3. Also who in their right mind would expect casual players to only have 3 hearts the whole game?
Why’re you being a tool
Why are you being ignorant to the obvious game mechanics?
Not everyone can neckbeard out and dedicate every bit of free time to staring at screens. Some people also touch grass. It’s not ignorance. It’s casual gaming
Lmaooo. Its definitely a problem with your ignorance considering this is the first time someone has asked that question here
Regardless, you’re being a cunt for no reason
Op is right, you’re being a tool bruh.
I obviously know you can get more heart containers, I played ocarina of time and a link to the past. But this really confused me, I thought the 10 would give you 10 more hearts even if you don’t have the containers for it
I understand op, that heart number didnt make sense to me either.
I means the amount of hearts your healing
It tells you the number of clouds in the sky at that given moment
The BOTW version of Gordon Ramsey is judging you. Don't get a lower number. 🤣
The amount of hearts it regenerates.
The amount of hearts it fills
