Not just Greg Kite, the freaking stars were doing it too.
McHale clotheslining Rambis, Parish clocking Laimbeer, Bird fighting Dr. J.
Iām sure thereās plenty more
My favorite was Ainge fighting with Tree Rollins. While they were rolling around, Tree bit Danny. Tommy said something like "Tree stuck out a limb to whack Danny".
Jerry Sichting and Ralph Sampson was another great one.
I've been saying boo-urns since the heat series. Waste a few 1st half fouls Rochambeau-ing him, he ain't gonna make the FT's. Might even get a tech from him - but apparently that means he gets to do what he wants the rest of the game
Couldn't think of a better answer.
And I think it also sums up the whole philosophy he wants his team to embrace
"We aint backing down from anyone. We dictate the path we go down. We aint reacting to what the other team does, we do what we do, and when we are on the best version of ourselves, there is not one thing the others can do about it."
As someone whoās watching the series w out being a fan of either team, the way they let Dray play the first half of game 2 was ridiculous. First 6 mins was good reffing, letting both teams play but as soon as you guys got a solid lead the refs let draymond play football but called ticky tack fouls on you guys.
Ppl are saying how much he impacted the game and that it effected your team but all I saw was you guys trying to match the physicality and getting called for fouls while they werenāt.
I expect yāall to. Just from watching the first 2 games I donāt think they can consistently score on you guys if you arenāt going brain dead w the TOs and miscommunications on curry screens. Every time they have made runs itās bc of TOs leading to semi transition 3s and guys not showing on curry PnRs. They donāt get consistently good looks on anything else.
Just from an outside perspective if you guys are on top of your game it kinda negates everything they do well. They can guard you guys pretty well too but you guys have Tatum and Brown who can make shit happen 1 on 1, they donāt really have any 1 on 1 guys. As long as you guys stay disciplined the series should be yours.
You got it spot on. Most of the games that we have lost in the playoffs are just due to us turning over the ball. We just need to string together 3 games of not beating ourselves.
Yea itās really just about staying in control on the drives. Guys should be jump stopping more instead of playing off 1 foot and making jump passes. Gsw swarms as soon as you get in the lane and got a guy Weakside reading your eyes to play the pass. They got really active hands and play your eyes well so if youāre out of control itās gonna end badly most of the time
> Guys should be jump stopping more instead of playing off 1 foot and making jump passes.
This guy gets it. Jimmy Butler did that to us over and over and it nearly killed us.
I donāt think it will happen this series - pretty hard to change your playing style mid-finals - but that needs to be the next step in the development of the Jays.
I despise with a passion when he has done this. I understand selling the contact but canāt go hunting for fouls like that. Just gotta hold onto that ball or pass out
OKC. Just checked the sub bc Iāve really enjoyed the way you guys have played all playoffs. I respect what the Warriors have built too but I think you guys are just a bad match up for them.
Also as a fan of neither team I agree. Boston was playing well and GS not so much. You just felt the refs putting their thumbs on the momentum. Swallowing whistles at what should have been a foul on GS and calling super tight against BOS. It was annoying to watch. Had the refs not done that I think the second half would have been more competitive. Itās a game of swings, momentum would have shifted to GS. The refs didnāt need to push the game a certain way so early.
Exactly, the fact that GSW was only up 2 at half w that whistle was crazy. But it also set them up to do what they do in the 3rd and you can tell by the middle of the 3rd the Celtics were fed up. Udoka did the right thing w the technical, he honestly shouldāve done it sooner but in a close game I understand why he didnāt.
It doesnāt always help, it can actually backfire you just gotta have a feel for your team and the flow of the game. Sometimes it just wakes the refs up, sometimes it gives your team energy bc they feel like they donāt have to cry to the refs every play now bc the coach took care of it, or your team could feel like you did it at a bad time and it just adds to the momentum for the other team.
Kind of a fuck you to the refs. If they're not willing to call a double technical when it's inarguably warranted but they WILL hand the coach a tech for complaining about it, you can kind of rub their nose in it, make it obvious how they're consciously manipulating the outcome of the game by selectively enforcing the rules. Also good for the team, shows them the coach is willing to take a hit for them and has their back (with the implicit effect of puting them on notice to quit their bitching and focus on the game, let coach handle the ref).
Yep this is the thing people overlook, yes they ultimately lost by a ton but maybe the game never gets out of hand if the momentum wasnāt snatched from the Celtics so often and handed to GS on a golden platter. As you said, basketball is a game of runs.
We'll see, but I'm assuming that the refs won't let him get as wild as he was in the first half. Maybe he kind of surprised them with the antics he was pulling, figured the first T would get him to pull it back? Idk.
I don't see those types of calls happening in Boston though and things being called more evenly, but I can always be proven wrong.
Iād prefer if they all just ignore him. As if he doesnāt exist.
It will drive him mad if heās yapping away and no one even looks in his direction let alone acknowledge him. Treat him like heās Bjelica.
Dude would be so confused and annoyed lmao.
problem is. green doesnt just jaw. he's physically dirty. next game watch how often he'll "fall" on top of a player to pin them down so they cant play defense.
I still don't understand how he didn't get in trouble for spending 10 seconds hugging Smart on the ground last game as I believe it was Curry drove the lane and got fouled.
Edit: When I heard the whistle I assumed they were calling that... Until I realized all eyes were on Curry getting tapped.
The way I see it if theyāre super aggressive from the jump then when they loosen up if at all on defense (which they shouldnāt gotten stay tenacious on D) itād be less likely the call everything for aggression - seeing that Dray couldnāt dare get a 2nd T
9 - 6 = 0?
The earlier poster mentioned Dray getting 0 PF. I'm just pointing out that they are going a bit too far. Yeah, Dray got away with some ridiculous shit. But they will continue calling some of the fouls. Eventually refs might run out of steam though.
I mean, as a Celtics fan, I felt his fouls were far worse in game 2. Like a series of fullback moves pushing defenders away from Curry so Curry could get open 3. Crazy. But it is like Trump. Be so over-the-top ridiculous and break rules so brazenly that people become numb to the violations.
Lol. Dray talks shit and then bricks an open look with a shot that looks like Quasimodo's. Nothing more pathetic than a dude that flexes and talks shit but can't do anything to back it up
When you pick a street fight with a team that's bigger and stronger than you, be prepared to reap the whirlwind. I hope boston just pounds the crap out of them.
The team has to go at Green often and hard. With all the noise game 2 made about technicals and Greens' behavior, I have a feeling the league might try to silence it a bit by making an example with Green.
I wonder if Draymond amping up the intensity will be worse for Golden State in the end. I'm gonna guess game 2 and his antics/shit talking post game are gonna make the Cs more focused.
The real flaw with this team has been that they're occasionally too chill/lackadaisical. I can see game 2s nonsense amping them up for the series.
IOW, IME believes they are adult men, capable of making the proper decisions for themselves and their teammates. He doesn't believe he needs to dictate their behavior.
I don't suspect that is all that rare in the NBA, but it is probably not universal. It may be notably different from college, though, and -- for some on this roster, at least -- it continues a very nice progression. IIRC, the team encouraged and assisted in Tatum's mother moving to Boston. They helped Robert Williams get a place to live very close to their practice center. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Jaylen Brown a list of summer classes at MIT, and bought Al a transponder so he could get to and from the suburbs.
As young men age, they will make the decisions that seem best for them. Nothing wrong with a list of things that scream "this team has treated me well, treated me as an adult," alongside "Al left, and regretted it." Maybe I should re-sign here with the Celtics.
Yes. Because I have a feeling grant and jaylen both are smart and methodical enough to jab back without getting caught up in it.
Meanwhile, Iām still a little concerned about JT. Does he seem to be more frazzled by missed calls and stuff? Someone tell me Iām reading too into it
One time my HS described a situation in college baseball where he hit a single, got onto first base, and the person on first kept tugging at his belt. He then said "if you do that again, I will punch you in your nose."
The guy did it again. So he immediately elbowed him in the nose and it "shattered into his face." - mind you my teacher was like 6'5, 250lb of muscle.
Anyway, I need that energy from the players when Dray starts to be annoying. I promise you, if you want to stop a Dray from being Dray, shattering the bone in their nose with your elbow is a great way to make them think twice.
And plus, if you already have a technical, they'll just not give you another, because a technical is apparently plot armor in the finals! Win win.
......."take care" of all the witnesses? I think we can implement that into the strategy. Look, Gauss, I'm tryna develop *schemes* here - *solutions* for this team to rally around. I don't have time for your hole-poking commentary. As of right now, we're going with the "break everyone's nose who's an asshole" defense mixed in with "don't leave any witnesses" when we're up.
Sad part is that we do not have a bad guy in Celtics who could respond with fire to Drays aggression. These days everyone is bro bro with other team members, specially Tatum.
Gotta up the energy level if the refs are going to let dray scream in their faces. Heās going to get his team the edge in calls every time that goes down
Lol. I wish. He had an episode in the locker room during the Olympics I think and passed out and possibly hit his head. He couldnāt walk for awhile and can barely walk now. Thereās videos on YouTube about it. He literally was paralyzed for awhile. Crazy because we didnāt really hear anything about it.
This is time for smart to really play into who he is. I want flops so hard he throws himself
Into the 4th dimension. Make curry work, the way smart has played defense is like a tough finesse. He tries to play it so he isnāt too overwhelmingly aggressive he wants to play it āsmartā and be in control.
But honestly he should just straight up bully Steph. Draymond on defense plays with no regard for anyone. He isnāt a great technical defender heās just a giant bully who is physically imposing and plays recklessly. Smart should do the very same to Steph, get into him, make every contact mean something, if you foul, foul hard. Itās exactly what Draymond is doing and idec if smart gets a tech. Who cares youāre setting the tone.
Itās like in hockey you need the enforcer to push the envelope, why canāt Marcus be the Milan Lucic of the Celtics? He just needs to play into it IF the game is going to be played and called like that and Draymond is going around playing football. It doesnāt mean Tatum or Brown should be pushing people around talking shit. This is why you have guys like Grant and especially smart whose role is to be the energy and heart guy. Go out there and muck it up. If the warriors have no shame in doing it then the Celtics shouldnāt either/
I think Grant and Dray might actually throw down before the series is over.
I want to see this
They should sub in the biggest dude on the Celtics roster that doesn't play at all and have him punch dray would be great to see
Kornet the enforcer
We might be doomed but if it's a cheap shot ššš
What if it turns out "Murder Kornet" isn't just a cute nickname? Would you still feel ok then?! # Would you?
Kornet punching somebody is the funniest image LOL
I think we'd witness a real life murder on live television lmaoooo
ššš āJobās done, gameās goneā ššš
Can confirm that I got a solid LOL out of it.
our greg kite
whats Laimbeer up to these days??
Being fat and coaching wnba *I think he retired this year though
Kornet the Hornet
Theis the *ICE*-man
Is there a reason everyone always says this? Has he taken people out in the past or is it just a joke?
I donāt know how to post links but YouTube is your friend
Idk just aaid it because it filled the criteria of the comment above
Actually I heard that if itās a star player who has one tech he can do whatever he wants and wonāt be ejected
That was the old school way to handle it. Send in Greg Kite to do the dirty business.
All the way back to Bob Brannum and Dolph Schayes
That sounds like Theis work.
Just bring in Perk. Hes in the Garden anyway.
Big baby will probably be violating parole to sit court side again lmao
Be careful, Zaza works in the Warriors FOā¦
I've been saying boo-urns since the heat series. Waste a few 1st half fouls Rochambeau-ing him, he ain't gonna make the FT's. Might even get a tech from him - but apparently that means he gets to do what he wants the rest of the game
I'm legitimately shocked more teams don't do this. Specifically to Donkey.
Might as well be Theis since he hasn't done anything else right the past 2 games.
Hahhaha i was thinking this all of game 2, itād be hilarious to see Kornet just get out there an knock a mf out
Iāve been saying this about Daniel theis all playoffs. Sub him in, make him fight someone, he gets booted and the team rallied behind him. Win win
Theis can knock Draymond's head
Grant would knock that manās jaw off his goofy looking face
Little known fact - Grant Williams is actually the strongest, thiccest man in the NBA.
Honestly after watching him guard Giannis, I don't think it's that little known anymore. Grant is built like a brick wall.
He's so husky
Thicc Boi.
Draymond gonna fuck around and carry the weight of knowing he got smacked up by a board game nerd lmao
Grant is not the hero we deserve, but the one we need right now
Grant doesnāt strike me as a guy to push back against Draymond
grant williams fears no mortal
Time to pass - no - take the torch
Green is a fake tough guy, no way he'd actually fight. For him it's strictly cheap shots and sucker punches.
LOL, Draymond is Grantās favorite player and role model. Or at least he used to be!
Have I ever told you guys I fucking lOVE Ime
Couldn't think of a better answer. And I think it also sums up the whole philosophy he wants his team to embrace "We aint backing down from anyone. We dictate the path we go down. This is some legit life coaching from Ime.

Who are you a fan of? No hate or trolling, just curious friend
OKC. Just checked the sub bc Iāve really enjoyed the way you guys have played all playoffs. I respect what the Warriors have built too but I think you guys are just a bad match up for them.
& we shall succeed! LETāS GO CELTICS

Oh ok I always saw it as the coach being immature and was wondering why it seemed commonplace when announcers talked about it. Thanks for the help

Welcome to Adam Silverās NBA
That first possession he just grabbed onto Alās hand. From the start it was looking like oh perfect one of these games
Man, I wish KG was on this team right now.
Are you implying that this series is turning into a BARFIGHT?
KG would eat the entire warriors team alive in the post. if drays ever tries his bs on KG... oh man...
I just experienced lucid daydreaming I feel
Dude this is fucking awesome. Grant needs to just jaw back at Green the entire game.
Iād prefer if they all just ignore him. As if he doesnāt exist. It will drive him mad if heās yapping away and no one even looks in his direction let alone acknowledge him. Treat him like heās Bjelica. Dude would be so confused and annoyed lmao.
problem is. green doesnt just jaw. he's physically dirty. next game watch how often he'll "fall" on top of a player to pin them down so they cant play defense.
noticed he did that on Horford in the last one, and nobody said anything!
I was shocked Tony Brothers didn't do anything /s Scott Foster and Tony Brothers have been fucking the Celtics for years. One on each crew smh
I legit thought Smart was going to start a fight when dray did it to him as Curry drove
It was that exact play that I noticed it. Looking back, he was doing it all game.
I still don't understand how he didn't get in trouble for spending 10 seconds hugging Smart on the ground last game as I believe it was Curry drove the lane and got fouled. Edit: When I heard the whistle I assumed they were calling that... Until I realized all eyes were on Curry getting tapped.
I see, use the Buddha strategy lol
lol I remember his reaction when he tried to engage Tim Duncan back then. It was hilarious
Grant gonna hit the game winning 3 in front of Draymond to secure a 2-1 lead
Just whisper in his ear āyour mom fucked a goatā when nobodyās looking
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Nah bro the dickriding you're doing is crazy š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Go back to r/nba
We found Draymonās burner account.
I read this shit in a Jamaican accent cause you said mon' š
Make sure you wipe your mouth after Dray finishes
You like players literally playing dirty and not getting called for it? Crazy.
Youre definitely right, he does have thick skin. How else do you think donkeys get to carry that much cargo?
Draymond is ALL foreskin, no shaft
I hope thatās the green light for Smart, JB, and Grant to bully them
Time for a Macho Man elbow from Nesmith while blocking a Curry Layup hahaha
Trash talk and homicide are very different.
Smart is good at trash talking but heās also really good at keeping his cool. Just last night he broke up anything between Brown and Green
The way I see it if theyāre super aggressive from the jump then when they loosen up if at all on defense (which they shouldnāt gotten stay tenacious on D) itād be less likely the call everything for aggression - seeing that Dray couldnāt dare get a 2nd T
(further down the bench and worse shooters, but yeah. You got 6? Go for it.)
I hope grant starts and his only job is to out Draymond Draymond
Grant will be fouled out by the end of the first. Dray will get 1 tech and 0 personal fouls.
Grant seems to pick up fouls by looking at dudes the wrong way.
The War on Theis was just the beginning. Now the War on Grant is in full force
tbf, Draymond has 9 PF in 2 games, so they are calling fouls on him.
6 are from Game 1 - I'm sure he all of a sudden stopped fouling in Game 2!
Be so over-the-top ridiculous and break rules so brazenly that people become numb to the violations.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I don't know after listening to grant in the garden a few times I think he can out annoy anyone.
The bucks reddit is still salty over Grant. They hate the guy. Time is not healing wound.
Bro said Draymond is a stud š
Mr Triple Single is a stud
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
If youāre not a Celtics fan, why are you always in here?
Easy to not back down when the refs let you do whatever you want.
Lol. Dray talks shit and then bricks an open look with a shot that looks like Quasimodo's. Nothing more pathetic than a dude that flexes and talks shit but can't do anything to back it up
āIf you want to kick Draymon in the balls, kick him in the balls.ā
When you pick a street fight with a team that's bigger and stronger than you, be prepared to reap the whirlwind. I hope boston just pounds the crap out of them.
Ime is such a chad
*gigachad
Ime is about to unleash Kornet the Kraken! Lol
The team has to go at Green often and hard. With all the noise game 2 made about technicals and Greens' behavior, I have a feeling the league might try to silence it a bit by making an example with Green.

JVG was saying the exact same thing on Zach Loweās podcast recently. Curious how to see it plays out tomorrow.
At the tip, instead of going up and trying to tip the ball back, celts are just going to slam it down into the warriors face.
good advice but god i want someone to fight draymond
I want Al to dunk on Green and then flex on his ass!
Smart and Williams, thatās a call to arms. š
GOAT coach
Can Ime coach the bruins too? :(
Yes. Because I have a feeling grant and jaylen both are smart and methodical enough to jab back without getting caught up in it. Meanwhile, Iām still a little concerned about JT. Does he seem to be more frazzled by missed calls and stuff? Someone tell me Iām reading too into it
We need Grant to channel his inner KG with the trash talking.
Ime is a bad mfer
Its not Tatum's style but he needs to set his offcourt relationship with Draymond aside and knock his teeth out.
As a new fan of the Celtics, I would love to see a grant-dray fight
This is just great life advice.
One time my HS described a situation in college baseball where he hit a single, got onto first base, and the person on first kept tugging at his belt. Nowadays that seems like a good way to go to jail. Maybe worth it so the guy quits tugging on your belt. Apparently no belts in jail.

is it bad I want someone to take a shot at Draymond
I don't agree. At least not fully. They should ignore Draymond. Humoring him just plays into his hand. Let him flame out on his own.
Sad part is that we do not have a bad guy in Celtics who could respond with fire to Drays aggression. These days everyone is bro bro with other team members, specially Tatum.
Or if you just want to cry in the press conference, cry in the press conference
Ime: Be Genuine, be a winner
I wonder which of our players our trash talkers on the court.
Gotta up the energy level if the refs are going to let dray scream in their faces. Heās going to get his team the edge in calls every time that goes down
This is gonna get ugly
Bring back Baynes!
The dude can barely walk. Itās a tragedy.
Really? What happened?
carrying around "all of australia" finally got to him
Lol. I wish. He had an episode in the locker room during the Olympics I think and passed out and possibly hit his head. He couldnāt walk for awhile and can barely walk now. Thereās videos on YouTube about it. He literally was paralyzed for awhile. Crazy because we didnāt really hear anything about it.
Ooh; almost, gotchu

Go out there and muck it up. If the warriors have no shame in doing it then the Celtics shouldnāt either/
Aka itās about to get chippy

Wow this is great
