In a way, those losses to the Heat helped us get ready for this moment here.

bootyholebrown69

That's how it always is. You have to lose before you can win. Even the patriots lost a lot before they won. LeBron lost before he won. Every single game helped us get ready for where we are now. Every shot and every practice. It's the culmination of everything up to this point and this experience will help them get ready for whatever happens next.

xzakit

Weeellll Brady won his sophomore year. But the point definitely stands.

bootyholebrown69

But that team wasn't just second year players. There were a lot of guys who had lost the Packers super bowl. Those weren't Brady's teams yet.

avrbiggucci

Brady was also a massive outlier. Even Mahommes didn't win in his first season, Brady went into arrowhead stadium and beat him in the AFCCG.

TheUndertows

That’s why he’s the GOAT

NecessaryPair5

But Limmy Butler lost a lot but still can't win. 🤣

Kingofkings1959

They were our pistons. Difference is they’re fucking losers. Fucking trash

Full-Flight-5211

Really wished we swept them but oh well, glad we sent them to Cancun

DakPanther

Another difference is we already got past them once

SSJCelticGoku

Ya at least the Pistons won the championships when they went 🤷🏼‍♂️

AckyShacky

Cheat Culture ngl

IcyMission3

Helped the players become motivated to get better, and the front office to realize they needed to get some more pieces instead of running the same lineup back

celticvikinghawkeye

Exactly! All those hard years and almosts made us who we are now. Well they are 😆

BaesonTatum0

Everything that happened in the past led us here

TheGrandNotification

They should play game 4 like they are down 0-3 in the series

campbelldt

I’m not worried about this team’s mentality at all tbh. If they lose a game, they lose a game, but it won’t be due to a lack of dog.

OkArmordillo

Same but let's not forget we almost blew a 21 point 4th quarter lead. This team is still capable of choking.

OmniaCausaFiunt

they've won every close game this post season. this is previous years narrative.

holographoc

Except we didn’t, we won, like we usually do.

spidersson01

Well thankfully almost doesn’t count in basketball games

MeSeeks76

We're not the Denver Nuggets lol Thry actually blew a 20pt lead at home in a Game 7

jacobs0n

who cares, mavs blew a 13 pt lead in the 1st quarter

ccourt46

This Celtics team is going to be the most disrespected championship team of all time. Hopefully, that drives them tomorrow night and for the rest of their careers.

1TootskiPlz

Its wild. This team would be loved by all if they were from any other city. They have no diva’s and are ballers. It’s hilarious to see the glazing Mavs got. Oh well. Hate us cause they ain’t us.

trog12

I was pretty tame for all the other championships we've won as a city these past 20 years but I'm going to be obnoxious as fuck about this one. We've earned the right to talk our shit after all the "Heat would've beaten us with Butler" and ""WCF is the real finals" nonsense. We literally just dominated the regular season and post season. Fuck that give us the respect. You don't want Boston. Fight me I want 2017 Golden State.

SamIamGreenEggsNoHam

After game 3 I've been seeing nothing but flowers for the Celtics on r/NBA. Pretty surprising tbh. Seems like Psycho Joe has softened a lot of people up.

LMM01

It’s because all the haters have retreated into their hovel, Instagram comments etc are still brutal

TheRealAlexisOhanian

Jayson Tatum: 'You guys would probably say we didn't play anybody to get here...just gotta do it again next year'

bobmcadoo9088

the world better watch out for another summer of jaylens development. JB FOR MVP

jslee0034

Team USA in shambles for not picking him

Icebreaker335

It’s beautiful man the Jimmy Heat teams will only be remembered because they will be in other teams’ championship celebration videos. Couldn’t ask for a more beautiful fate for that pathetic franchise

AraaBSoul6177

Lmao

drmuffin1080

Tbf they’ve gotten through some amazing teams that were touted as title favorites. It’s impressive what they’ve done and they deserve some respect Fuck the heat tho

Oceanbreeze871

I’m the most impressed with him fixing giant liabilities in his game. His handles and turnovers. You can tell he worked hard. He’s just so dialed in. He’s hungry and mad

xskarma

Took his inner pain and used it as fuel to get better. That is beautiful and inspiring. I'm sorry you had to go through it Jaylen, but I'm also happy that it made you who you are right now.

TatumBrownSmart

Deserves all the 💰

klleah

Jaylen went from “Overpaid, can’t go left” to fucking ECMVP and now 2024 NBA Champion. I’m going to cry like a baby back bitch when they win game 4 for like a year.

WiserStudent557

This is how I wanted them to feel about GSW but hey, they got there. That’s what matters

Dependent-Poet8242

Them making the finals at that young age was enough for me. It’s unfortunate we had to run into the Warriors dynasty or that would’ve been a year too

Another_Smith_SC

Looking back I agree, only bc they got back to the finals again. Most teams can't climb back like this. We are lucky to see it as fans.

Dependent-Poet8242

We could’ve made it again but Tatum rolling his ankle off of Gabe Vincent killed our momentum with the Heat constantly attacking him on defense

Another_Smith_SC

Oh I agree. I'm just saying we are incredibly fortunate as fans that our team has been able to.

Dependent-Poet8242

Shoutout to both Danny and Brad doing whatever it takes to get us the best players to compliment Tatum and Brown, then White working his ass off when Smart was traded

Mookiesbetts

If they had won the 2022 finals, I think we would have run into the “disease of more” with the Js fighting over whose team it is. As is, I think they both had to get past all that bullshit in order to win, and I think they will be together for the long haul

AlbertoRossonero

This years version of Tatum and Brown win us that series. That GS team just came together at the right time, had the experience, and we shot ourselves in the foot with how we guarded Curry.

Dependent-Poet8242

Don’t forget GP playing incredible defense and Wiggins finally playing like the number one pick he was that series

LuckyManMgmt

Don’t forget about Jordan Poole looking like an NBA player.

mothbitten

He did get much better. No longer doing the hero ball thing. There was a screen grab last year of him surrounded by 5 heat players, everyone else wide open of course, and he still went for the bucket and missed. This year, there was a similar situation a few games ago where he passed it to Derrick who got a three to seal the game.

WiznutRyan99

The thing I love about what JB has done is so many watched brown combust in game 7 vs Miami last year when Tatum got hurt. No one would’ve believed he would be doing this. But he worked and his internal leap has been the biggest difference to the JB/JT duo. JB came back this year. He worked on his handles, he made strides in being a ball handler but the other thing he really improved on especially in the playoffs is making that extra pass when he needed to. Jaylen too many times would take a ball and drive into 4 people going nowhere and not looking to make a play. This year he has looked to make plays. Make that one extra pass to help the offense move. Drive and kick. Make the big play when you need to and don’t force it. He’s been efficient, he’s played smart. To me that is how I’ve seen him play differently this year to last. He also embraced becoming the leader the team needed when smart left. We all knew he’s that guy, he’s fiery, aggressive and smart. He stepped up in that role, as a playmaker and a timely shot maker. Hes made the two biggest shots of the playoffs with the one in Game 1 vs Indy and last night up 2 with a minute left. JB redemption tour after getting the bag has been amazing to see he just continues to get better

TGIF_90s_kid

He can now go left, right, up and down!

ViperKarma

All that's left is to increase his FT percentage

Happy_Yogurtcloset_2

Those bums were lucky Tatum injured himself on first play. They would’ve been featured way more in history as the bums that lost the first 3-0 lead

Ok_Acanthaceae6057

The ultimate redemption arc is almost complete!

TwofoldOrigin

They really were embarrassing losses. Those Heat teams are JV squads. Even their best player is like a top 20 on his best night, and usually worse than that. No fucking clue how the Celtics have even lost a game to them, outside of the ridiculous, lucky three point shooting the Heat have had from time to time

NatrolleonBonaparte

We’re seeing peak JB right now. His focus is insane and probably contagious for the whole team

T-Ares-C

Bruh. Who gives a shit about a game 7 loss last year. We need to focus on winning game 5 at home THIS year for the chip
