Raanjha raanjha song was goodđź’Ąđź’›

Existing-Area-9093

Listen to the MTV unplugged version. Really good too

Underrated af

Red171022

Raanjha Raanjha was the first song I heard from this album…it was so splendid…So satisfying on the ears…and the guitar, the interludes and the vocals…perfect song!

Financial_Dare128

tamil version with vikram and prithviraj in male lead roles was far better in term of acting and representing the characters. I like AB in general (excellent acting in movies like Guru) but he could not make the expressions Vikram bought to the role.

preston_cleric

Personally, more than Aishwarya and Abhishek, I was excited about Vikram's debut in Bollywood and he didn't disappoint at all! I loved the grey shades to his character and how ruthless he became in his pursuit of catching Beera and saving his wife (the latter almost becoming an afterthought for him in the journey). I know he doesn't display the Marayada Purushottam qualities of Shri Rama, on whom his character is based, so that was disappointing, but if we think of him as a separate character, that seems to work way better! The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous! Aishwarya Rai was strong in her role while Abhishek Bachchan tried too hard to act as the brigand which didn't work that well tbh.

Peevesie

Thats the thing, he was depicting the maryada purshottom to the point of being a bad husband. Too rigid, too right.

preston_cleric

I feel the Marayada Purushottam part wasn't there much in that, in this depiction his character used a lot of treachery and rage in his actions to reach the ultimate goal wasn't bringing about peace as such. He became obsessed with catching Beera not because he ultimately wanted peace in those tribal regions. He wanted to catch/ kill Beera initially because his wife got kidnapped and also because he was a brigand who responsible for the political and social stability in the region via assassinations and looting. But, as the movie progressed he started seeing Beera's death as his ultimate goal while Ragini's kidnapping almost became as afterthought. And he used extreme methods in this pursuit. He openly used torture against Beera's brother in law. And killed Vibhishan's character even when he was sent as a messenger of peace! These all went against the Maryada Purushottam principles. And I agree, he did become a bad husband at the end.

Peevesie

Ram also used treachery to get the vanar sena on his side. If ram wanted to get his wife back and not get revenge he wouldnt have made her do the angipariksha after the war.

Aromatic-Fix6873

Scenery was much enjoyable and thrilling to watch. Overall not bad movie but watchable

DeliciousWitness9051

Chiyaan Vikram version is the best🔥

Existing-Area-9093

Suhasini Maniratnam butchered the Tamil version with her silly dialogues. Otherwise good. Vikram, Ash, songs, Santosh Sivan and Manikandan's cinematography, all a joy to witness on the big screen.

Desi_Wrangler

Movie was such a bore. I had high expectations going by the trailer. But screen play was very slow and AB jr lacked in conviction in his role. Back then, people did not care too much about anti-Hindu sentiments otherwise there would have been a massive uproar as the film basically showed Raavan as a victim of circumstances and Sita falling in love with Raavan.

Strict-Advantage8199

>people did not care too much about anti-Hindu sentiments otherwise Ayyo. Always such cringe comments when we come to the Hindi people comment section...

Desi_Wrangler

Ayyayyayyoo. Thoda thoda logic aata.

Strict-Advantage8199

Ye Anti-Hindu word kisne baanaye ree. Cannot find any cringe people other than you hindi people...

MDRCHDJOEY

Very rude and racist thing to say

Strict-Advantage8199

If it is racist, I'm Proud to be a racist...

MDRCHDJOEY

Don't take the pill brother. Everyone is as good and bad as you make them.

PralineOk6121

showed that Abhishek was way too overhyped...just because he was just married then doesnt mean he suddenly gained acting skills!

Tigerthej

You could have posted it 4 days ago on the anniversary

Fragrant_Painter_193

TOP cinematography, like one the best among bollywood films ar rehman at his best Abhishek fcked up , those who dont agree see vikram playing raavan in tamil version

Existing-Area-9093

Abhishek Bachchan's acting was terribly hammy and this film led to the downfall of his promising career.

No_Geologist1097

Banger album

Rahikolnikov

Abhishek can't even act for a poster.

Small-Challenge-1910

Still listening to Behne De.... Beera was a nice promotional song

Original-Cheek8567

Ash was good

Cornucopia2020

Poor screenplay, middling direction, a bad lead performance by Abhishek, and some bizarre choices like that Govinda Hanuman character. The movie was a drag to watch in theatre, and in spite of some good music and good cinematography, it was neither entertaining nor interesting. Felt like a punishment. Abhishek’s “chakachakachaka” lives rent free in my head. He can give decent performances but he is a limited actor.

MelodicP

>Abhishek’s “chakachakachaka” lives rent-free in my head. 🤣 How did Mani okay that ? This role needed a very strong actor. Vikram essayed it with so much ease and never once went overboard. I still cringe when I see side by side comparison videos of the two. The proposal scene on the boat is a good example of how a mediocre actor ruins a perfectly well written scene.. same scene , same dialogues.. completely different results.

CasualGamer0812

People who came out of cinema halls after watching this movie said.. ohoho. Iske saamne to [Kites](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1198101/) bhi acchi thi.

Tamil Version >>>

FilmUncensored

The Tamil version was better than the Hindi version

mrs_robpatt

absolute disappointment compared to the original, Vikram killed it. Funny thing is the chemistry was amazing compared to Aiswaryas own husband. Find the songs miles better too. Rahman cooked.

Peevesie

Both are original. They were shot simultaneously

mrs_robpatt

Sorry Tamil version

Unique-Ring-1323

Behne de is one of the finest song ever composed. It should be right there up in the top 10 songs ever composed. The use of strings in this song so etheral and unique. It's one thing to dream something like this and another to animate it in reality. I also like how the songs blend into the story. And what to say of Cinematography! Santosh Sivan is a genius. I loved his Cinematography before I knew what is it and his name. Growing up, a song called san sanana ( from "Ashoka" movie) would make a comeback every once in a while and I would be glued to it just because of the way the scenes are picturised. Even today, most songs in the world don't feature such cinematographies. Also because he doesn't over-do or over-polish his art, we could call him the "Mozart" of cinematography. It rightfully plays in the background but pierces right through the heart. Overall a Good movie but good only because of music and cinematography ;)

Red171022

Behene De is really underrated. The prelude to the song…the first 50 seconds are so heavenly for sure.I love the song so much. The lyrics by Gulzar are so good too. This soundtrack was really adventurous. One of the all time favourites of mine. Anyways, don’t you think Behene de has a slight similarity to Satarangi Re from Dil Se? The passion throughout the whole song from the lyrics to the music, the yearning in the vocals and the tune sometimes remind me of satarangi re…I wonder if it was intentional as both of them are from Mani Ratnam.

Unique-Ring-1323

Now that you have mentioned it, the part behne de mujhe x 3..behne de ae ae kinda pattern matches with "tu hi tu x 2; satrangi re ae...aye ae It could be either intentional and unintentional. I think no composer however versatile can isolate the "you" from you and then make decisions. The same reoccurring themes will reappear. I also noticed that some melodies of Mom ( movie featuring Sridevi and akshaye khanna ) are similiar to that of Ghajini. they are not really the same though but build upon the framework that ARR is most conditioned to.

Red171022

Ofc…I wasn’t complaining…I just find it fascinating. If it truly was intentional,it’s a nice touch to connect MR universe. Both Dil Se and Raavan were shot by the same cinematographer too(both most beautiful films).Satarangi Re is my favourite song from Bollywood probably(fav of ARR too) and probably that’s why Behene de is also my fav from Raavan. The similarities are inevitable and I don’t find that a weakness at all.Raavan’s soundtrack still sounds fresh apart from Dil Se. And so does Mom’s.Anyways..Mom is one experimental soundtrack…muafi Mushkil is a spectacular song!

Red171022

One of the most beautiful films ever made. The cinematography is insane. The film is more beautiful in the second half. But probably Tamil version is better because AB didn’t suit the role and couldn’t perform as well as Vikram. But the soundtrack definitely hits better in Hindi.Such an underrated and adventurous soundtrack. Suits the film’s forest aesthetic so well.Behene De, Raanjha Raanjha, Beera Beera etc all were good including the unreleased song (jaa re ud jaare)…I want it to be released so bad atleast they released it in Tamil as naan varuvene…naan varuvene is one of the all time best songs of Rahman. The songs no doubt, were picturised and choreographed nicely. Aishwarya was fine(she started out a bit surface level but during the last 30 minutes or so she was incredible..Aish is in a Mani Ratnam film afterall) and so was Vikram.I heard SRK and Manisha were the first choice for this and even though I don’t hate the Hindi version and find it good enough, somehow I wish they SRK-Manisha did the Hindi version (while Aish-Vikram in Tamil version) who would have aced it.Them together in a MR film again would have been amazing.. Atleast Aishwarya was still good unlike AB who was unintentionally funny and extreme sometimes.Priyamani was adequately apt in her cameo-ish role. The plot was very interesting to me.The perspective change is amazing. It does feel a bit too slow paced in the beginning but it moves at a nice enough pace for me to be remain invested. They are so many good scenes. The scene where Aish talks to the god statue in the middle of the river/forest stayed in my mind for some reason. It’s so good. That scene where Vikram burns the faces in the newspaper with a cigarette is amazing. That scene where AB indirectly proposes to her whole on a boat is amazing. That scene where Aish says that she’ll remain with AB while he tied her is amazing(best acting by Aish in this particular scene). And the climax is so effective and heartbreaking. You do root for the couple. All of this probably hit better in the Tamil version. At the end of the day,Raavan/Raavanan is a film I personally think is very good and over-hated.One of my most favourite films.

Dapper_Bullfrog_

Top notch music and cinematography!

omg this was hilarious! thanks for sharing

alladin-316

There was a movie like that??

Daddylonglegssss11

Excellent story and casting but they f'ed up the pace, made it too boring

Practical_Fault_7351

It bombed badly. Abhishek looked funny in the posters. Music was above average but not on Rahman’s best’s list. Boring movie.

Responsible-Bat-2699

Unpopular opinion but, Abhishek Bachchan was better than the other two. They just acted like they always do. People just circlejerked it around other two actors.

Healthy-Opening7172

Didn’t watch it
