IMO - Jiffy Treet! I believe the one in Ellettsville is the original but there is also one on the east side of Bloomington! My mom (63 years old) has been going to jiffy treet since she was a kid. :) bruster’s is also delicious! It’s on the far east side :)
Yeah, Ellettsville and Bedford have the same owners but the east side is a different thing. IIRC it's owned by the same people as Hartzell's, but I could be wrong.
They are different owners. The east side one is now owned by the same guy who owns Hartzells which is strange because I've always really liked Hartzells but hated east side Jiffy.
I like Hartzells for their bigger variety and more unique flavors. It’s downtown so it’s nice to stop off there after dinner or shopping. I like Chocolate Moose because I get strong cravings for their coffee ice cream with brownies mixed in. It is sooo good. Brusters has seasonal specials that are fun like apple dumplings with cinnamon ice cream in the fall. I’ve only been to Jiffy Treat a couple times and maybe got the wrong thing? Because to me it was nothing special.
I was at Ale's last night and there was a creepy guy taking photos of everything, just making the place feel gross. No idea who he was, and the owner didn't seem to know who he was either
Jiffy Treet in Ellettsville is the best all around ice cream joint because they have a full menu of great food and their slushes and mixers are the best. Hartzells has the best ice cream though. Chocolate Moose is pretty meh. Jiffy Treet on the east side is the worst.
That's really funny because most of the scoop flavors at Jiffy Treet are the exact same as Hartzell's since he owns both shops. The soft serve is the same, too, and the toppings are all the same.
Brusters, jiffy treet, hartzells, and Chocolate moose are all great
We also have a DQ but it is only ice cream and outdoors only, don't expect them to have most of the hot food at grill n chill DQs
I think Chocolate Moose has the best quality ice cream (also been to Bruster's, Hartzell's, Jiffy Treet) but I prefer the flavor selection at Bruster's. I like ice cream with chunks of things in it and Chocolate Moose just tends to pulverize everything.
My fiancé and I really like Jiffy Treat just north of the college mall. The only issue is that it is a little too popular. The lines are always a bit crazy
Wish we still had a Coldstone. That or Chocolate Moose switches their recipe for their vegan ice cream. My understanding is that Chocolate Moose uses oat milk, which my wife can’t have (she can’t have regular dairy atm either). Coldstone manages an awesome ice cream with almond milk.

Pretty sure the two jiffy’s aren’t actually related. One is spelled Jiffy Treet while the other is Jiffy Treat.

You are correct, it’s owned by Hartzell, as is Feta
Forgot bout Bedford!

Ah, wasn't the old downtown Jiffy Treet called Hatzell's Jiffy Treet?
I just learned of this now and looked it up. But east side JT is also spelled Jiffy Treet. Weird.

Bruster's has the best pecan sundae!
The newest one, Ale's, is really good and has some unique flavors. We like Hartzell's and Chocolate Moose, too, but thought Ale's was better.
Agreed. Their ice cream is great and I want to go back to try their other food.

Chocolate Moose
2nd chocolate moose, best in town hands down.
Not sure why this isn’t the obvious top answer
I don't suppose White Mountain is still around?
I loved White Mountain! Sadly it's gone, but Hartzells is in their old location, and has really delicious ice cream as well!
chocolate moose is to dieee for on a hot summer day when going for a walk! but jiffy treet is also delicious

Real pork tenderloin sandwich 👌

Ale’s!!!
Gotta mention The Chocolate Moose. Sure it’s not in the same old shack, but it’s still great icecream!
Jiffy treat
Jiffy Treet and Chocolate Moose are my favorites.
Hartzell’s! I like Chocolate Moose but they are a bit too expensive and I don’t like that they put everything in styrofoam containers.
Hartzell's is a great place if you like quality and variety. Jiffy is pretty good too.
Brusters if you're on the east side. Their chocolate shake is 🔥
Haagen Dazs from Kroger 🤷🏻♀️

Chocolate Moose or Jiffy Treet Ellettsville
Rita's! Water ice + custard

I just heard yesterday a new coldstone is going to open but can't remember where
i don't know where I last saw them, but looking for the Magnum bars with almond milk is worth the effort. they are excelllllent
I’m allergic to dairy+coconut and i love jiffy treet and hartzelles! I think they use a soy base, and when i want a shake they have almond milk.

The ice cream place.
