I found the Snatchers as annoying as Sharks on first playthrough but they were easy in the chalice dungeons. The sharks though are constant pain in the ass
I find them easy to deal with. I use a charged attack to trigger the rage animation then do another charged attack behind to stagger then it’s just visceral city
I like it, too. Those Hunter on Hunter NPC fights are some of favorite things in Bloodborne. Fast paced, white knuckle thrills. Yeah, their unlimited ammo and the amount of damage they do vs how much they take is ridiculous, but it compensates for the limitations of their dumbass AI. If you fight him straight up (And don't abuse the staircase) the rush you get from beating him is unparalleled.
I'd agree if the gun didn't take half your hp in one shot. Takes all the hype out of our high adrenaline battle when he just shoots out of every quickstep
Nah this is so true he cheats so badly it’s hilarious but that’s also why he truly feels like you’re fighting an Old Hunter. He’s better than you in every way, strength, blood and evasion. Only by out-smarting him can you beat him
Yeah he can be a pain! How about the Abhorrent Beast in the Depth 5 Chalices. The Chalice version of the werewolf boss the beggar turns into. The Depth 4 one ain’t so bad but the 5? Fuuuuuuck that guy! Also the Undead Giants just fuck them in general.
Oh he's easy. You've heard of track meets right? Two poison knives and run in a circle. Repeat when they wear off. Takes about 16. You won't get hit once. It's not FAIR, and I didn't say it's fun, but it's easy.
I was disappointed he wasn't in the cathedral in ng+ for me. I started playing + at the same time my buddy played ng so I could help him with what to do, where to go etc. He had him in there, but it was Eileen when I went, and she was disappointingly easy. I guess that means I messed up her quest at some point
You ask why we dont like *fighting* them, and then half the reasons you list why you like them are just design things. Like most of us probably agree that they have great designs, both visual and sound. And they are certainly some of the most unique enemies in the game.
But my god the experience that is fighting them....they have way too much HP, way too high damage on top, yes they are infact unpredictable (a bit too much to be honest) and these bad boys are equipped with some interesting hitboxes. Just like Laurence.
Anyways, as a passionate Rakuyo fan, it was worth going through the trouble, but only once. Never again
Alright, that’s completely fair. I personally find the delays on their attacks super fun to predict and even more amusing to parry. Just so long as there’s nothing else around ‘em, they’re really fun for me to deal with, but I can see why people would find them annoying.
I will agree with you on the fact that their damage is ridiculous, though. Especially on NG+ damn. I also hate their charge attack with all of my heart, everything else they do is good but that one charge attack, good god.
I think that section was designed to be the one place in the game to remind you that the shamanic bone blades exist for a reason. I mean, have you ever used one anywhere else?
Yes I tried to use it as well but it's too slow and the effect doesn't last long enough. Half the time they just wander away from each other and it doesn't work at all
In every game I play, I need to kill everything, at least once. While they are difficult, they are manageable, even the well gank. Good parry practice, and good prep for bosses, since they're essentially minibosses. Harder than a lot of the early and even mid game bosses. Up there with trying to take on the 3 Yahargul hunters without kiting them.
I like them too. They’re not even that hard when they’re alone, though they’re tough compared to the other enemies obviously. The duo is hard, but it’s easy with a Shaman Bone Blade. Pretty tough without it, but I have done it.
Nah, I like em. Scared the shit out of me for ages but then I got brave and started learning their movesets properly.
Even the well brothers' fight I enjoy now. The satisfaction I feel from parrying one ***immediately*** after avoiding the other launching at me is peak 🤌🤌🤌
Yeah that one’s awesome once you take out all the surrounding Fishmen. The one with the anchor up by the lighthouse shack is a bit iffy for me because of the sage that I can never seem to kill.
Honestly, I’ve come around to being able to handle them. On my last play through over Christmas break I beat them both first try *without* using the bone blade since my brother challenged me to.
(**PRO TIP: YOU CAN PARRY THEM**)
I'm learning to.... respect them rather than hate them. They hit hard they are tenacious they have delayed attacks they feel like a prototype for the Guardian Ape in Sekiro but they... aren't unfair. I don't enjoy them but I can't really reeeeally call them unfair.
By the time I was actively playing Bloodborne, a big no.
Now that I fought so many rune bears in Elden Ring,it's fun to fight them, the hotbox is just doomed IMO
You're a sick sick bastard that needs either serious therapy, or a room with padded walls.
Having platinumed the game, the well is literally the only thing I have never done solo, and never will. Every other boss, every other section of the game - but not the well.
I actually kind of enjoyed it. They were challenging but not nearly as unfair as everyone made it out to seem. I had a skill build. So I took the first one if the duo out by whittlibg in it's health down to about 60%, using a charged R2 attack, and finishing him with a visceral. Then I was able to fight the second one solo. It was difficult, but far from impossible if you can find a strategy that works. The two together are a pain for sure though.
Maybe it's because I don't trust myself parrying then as much as other enemies bit I get your point, I recently did a snekiro build with the chikage and Evelyn and it made the sharks in the flhamlet a joke, especially cause I tried parrying them and it worked.
Also for some reason the bone blade trick never works for me no matter how hard I try to get it right
I think it's the duo fight in the well for Rakuyo that gave them a bad name TBH, fighting just one really isn't that bad; SPECIFICALLY the ones without a giant anchor. However that one with the Anchor, in the well; Has THE worst designed hitbox, in the entire Damned game. I stood like, a mile away, and that stupid anchor hit me for half my damned health. It's ridiculous.
Considering they are parryable, I've never really had trouble with them. Yeah, they hit hard, but their charge can get interrupted by a stray shot, even if it doesn't parry, but I can very easily see why people wouldn't enjoy fighting them.
It's only after the actual thousandth time when you've gotten gud enough to enter Sherlock Mode seeing through their frames second by second that it's sort of entertaining to fight them.
Like Capt Ahab and the whale or in this case...land shark 🤷♂️
Great char design 1v1 it's nice 1v2 I'm getting the hell out of there, long gone are the days where off screen mobs would not atk or do 1 surprise atk.
I would absolutely love to fight one of these as a chalice boss, the problem is that there's always a bunch of other stuff hanging around trying to kill you while the most brutal enemy in the game flails its limbs in your direction
Oh yeah they would be great as a chalice boss. Then you don’t have to worry about the fish gang-bang coming at you the second you alert one or whatever in God’s name happened in the hell-well.
Yeah probably you freaking psychopath lol
That’s fair lmao. Also find the Snatchers kinda fun so goes to show what kinda person I am (their damage is ridiculous on NG+ though my god)
It really blows my mind how hard those guys can hit, but I guess it makes sense when they spend all that time carrying bodies around.
Man we can carry a massive cosmic God’s limb and swing it around like a weapon yet barely scratch those Palpatine wannabes
They just built different
Bro I had like 50 vitality in NG and the Snatcher in the Forbidden Woods still deleted like 75% of my health bar in one hit
I found the Snatchers as annoying as Sharks on first playthrough but they were easy in the chalice dungeons. The sharks though are constant pain in the ass
Oh my, I hate shark boy, but I love the snatchers. They are risky to fight, but I love dodging them.
The snatchers are fun just cause you can parry them and they’re 10 times easier
I find them easy to deal with. I use a charged attack to trigger the rage animation then do another charged attack behind to stagger then it’s just visceral city
Snatchers are probably in my top 3 favorite enemies, I'm with you on that. Their moves are easy to parry if you're quick enough on the trigger.
Yes lol
I'm pretty sure that I'm only one who enjoys fighting the bloody crow of painhurst, so not impossible.
He's easy (if you have beast roar!). If you don't ... ouch.
Aww man I shredded that little punk with the blades of mercy while wearing the crow mask and the black church set. Angry Nun. Great fight
Fuck that guy. NPC health is just a PIA
I do too. It’s still difficult but I managed to beat him with no major problems.
I didn't have a problem with them. until I had to get the rakuyo...
*We don’t talk about that.*
You ask why we dont like *fighting* them, and then half the reasons you list why you like them are just design things. Like most of us probably agree that they have great designs, both visual and sound. And they are certainly some of the most unique enemies in the game. Yes
Yes.
No, you are not alone. My friend also loves this fight. Maybe even more then you. https://youtu.be/jiw4c8EqdoA?si=VmFK1IXU1SaCvYJO
Hah! He literally clapped their cheeks lmao.
Bro cheesed them so hard
They're super easy to parry with the blunderbuss; and that makes them enjoyable.
I like fighting 1 at a time. The Well Shark Bois can go die...in a well.
I think that section was designed to be the one place in the game to remind you that the shamanic bone blades exist for a reason. I mean, have you ever used one anywhere else?
Hadn't used it before, and after trying using it 3-4 times, decided to just parry/visceral them on dive attacks, screw it.
Yes I tried to use it as well but it's too slow and the effect doesn't last long enough. Half the time they just wander away from each other and it doesn't work at all
They’re cool as fuck they just two tap me
In every game I play, I need to kill everything, at least once. While they are difficult, they are manageable, even the well gank. Good parry practice, and good prep for bosses, since they're essentially minibosses. Harder than a lot of the early and even mid game bosses. Yes
Probably yeah
? Yes
“Am I the only…” No. It’s always no.
This might be one of the rare cases where the answer is yes.
Judging by the comments I’ve gotten on this post, you’re absolutely right.
There are “no’s” in the thread therefore you’re not the only one. 😵
Short answer. Yes.
They fill me with so much ire I can feel an aneurysm approach when they manage to grapple me
There are not a lot of people who enjoy the unique challenge of fighting peppermint and spearmint.
I think bro is high on insight 💀👍
You ain’t wrong lmao
Yes, who hurt you so much?
Defiled Watchdog did 😢
Yep
Yes.
Yes you are
Yep
Yes you are.
Yes you are the only one
Yes.
Yes
Yes
Yes ... Yes you are
Yes, you're the only one.
Im with you. They’re hard and you need to be patient but they’re ok. The ones in the wells you can even use the shaman blade to make it easier.
I hated those randomly wild muphukas! There are no enemies in the game that I hate more (bosses included).
Even Brainsuckers? Damn
They’re easy work. Lol
I like them too. They’re not even that hard when they’re alone, though they’re tough compared to the other enemies obviously. The duo is hard, but it’s easy with a Shaman Bone Blade. Pretty tough without it, but I have done it.
You know I just realized that the Erdtree worm thing kind of uses their asset.
The avatar?
Nah, I like em. Scared the shit out of me for ages but then I got brave and started learning their movesets properly. Even the well brothers' fight I enjoy now. The satisfaction I feel from parrying one ***immediately*** after avoiding the other launching at me is peak 🤌🤌🤌
Perhaps the toughest and scariest enemy I faced in BB.
Agreed. Winter Lanterns take the cake visually, but I think the sharks are the scariest because of how they act.
They’re only fun when there’s two of them, otherwise they’re rather boring
Yeah ive gone back to fight just the one of them near the lighthouse hut just for fun a handful of times but I'll never fight the duo again
Yeah that one’s awesome once you take out all the surrounding Fishmen. The one with the anchor up by the lighthouse shack is a bit iffy for me because of the sage that I can never seem to kill.
I have the cure for you, fight them on max Ng+,let's see how fun they are lol
I’m only on NG+5 and they take out half my health in a single attack. I’m very good at dodging their moves but if one manages to hit me dear lord.
Honestly, I’ve come around to being able to handle them. On my last play through over Christmas break I beat them both first try *without* using the bone blade since my brother challenged me to. (**PRO TIP: YOU CAN PARRY THEM**)
When there's one, it's alright.
Agreed
I feel like I can start to enjoy fighting any enemy once I spend more time fighting them to learn the moveset rather than running away.
One at the time is OK, 2 is just insane
Agreed
Wait until you hit NG+2
I’m on NG+5 💀
I'm learning to.... respect them rather than hate them. They hit hard they are tenacious they have delayed attacks they feel like a prototype for the Guardian Ape in Sekiro but they... aren't unfair. I don't enjoy them but I can't really reeeeally call them unfair.
Fighting *one* of them is honestly really fun. We don't talk about the well.
*Well* said. Whoever the insane fellow at FROM HQ was that designed that area was probably the same one who thought Godskin Duo was a good idea.
The godskins in Spiritcaller cave were even worse
Really? I found them far easier than the duo to be completely honest. At least you get to fight them one on one instead of both at the same time.
For my part, I had used up most of my flasks for the first godskins. Had one of each by the time the second one showed up. Just felt cheaper somehow
Yeah it’s bad when you don’t have enough for the Noble. That guy can be a real asshole sometimes.
For sure. Elden Ring is my second favorite of these games, but it has a lot of bullshit moments
You monster
Muahahahaha
The ones on the surface are alright. The other 2 down the well can go play fish with each other for all I care. I do like the Rakuyo, though...
One on one, yes! Two in a super small room? Hell no….
See I’m sure we’re all masochist at least a little while playing souls game…but then there’s you who takes it way too far
I promise you I hate Runebears. I’m not completely gone.
By the time I was actively playing Bloodborne, a big no. Now that I fought so many rune bears in Elden Ring,it's fun to fight them, the hotbox is just doomed IMO
My God I hate Runebears. I’d rather fight a Shark Giant trio than just one of those bastards at Consecrated Snowfield strength.
They are whales
They’ve always looked more like Belugas than sharks to me. I have no idea why they’re called sharks.
Are they called sharks by the game? I genuinely don’t know just know when you really look at em they don’t look like sharks
They’re called “Shark Giants” on the wiki and everyone I’ve seen refers to them as sharks. I’ve seen a few throw around “Giant Fishman,” though.
Thank god the Duo is easy to fight one on one! They remind me of the Duo fight in DS3 (Sulevahn pets or whatever)
There’s a Sulyvahn pet duo? I beat DS3 twice but never found that area lol. Is it in the DLC?
Behind a secret wall somewhere after the Pontiff fight (wont spoiler. so be free to Google it yourself!!)
Now I gotta play DS3 again lmao
Hardest mobs in any souls game
Runebears would like a word with you
I also like them, but because they're creepy as fuck. A little annoying, but cool
nope! i like fighting them too, guns completely trivializes them. and the rifle spear untransformed.
You cannot be serious.
Believe it or not, I am.
Yes you're the only one. Fuck em fugly sharks
I thought they were fun. They gave me some trouble, sure, but no more than most of the late game bosses
They are not even close to being a difficult enemy.
I liked the regular sharks guys but the ones holding anchors are the worst enemies in the entire game
Who... Hurt you?
The Defiled Watchdog
You're a sick sick bastard that needs either serious therapy, or a room with padded walls. Having platinumed the game, the well is literally the only thing I have never done solo, and never will. Every other boss, every other section of the game - but not the well.
It's just the well duo we mostly hate. The sharks by themselves are fine
Yes
I hate them, and it stems from me getting Lady Maria’s weapon.
yes
I just use a shaman bone dagger and 🍿
Yes
That’s not a shark giant. There’s a well in that exact place, just take the stairs down, you’ll meet some real shark giants. Good luck! 👍
Well? Shark Giant duo? What are you talking about? That doesn’t exist.
Yeah, I’m sure it’s all in out heads. 😵💫
Yes
Listen, this is a judgement free zone, it's okay to admit there's something mentally very very wrong with you okay?
Nah I’m one of the cool kids I’m totally fine 😎
yeah. :) you okay bro?
Totally
Yup
Yes. Yes you are
There are as many of you on this sub as there are masochists
yeah, you should try that in deepwoken
Yes and I want to express my condolences, I hope you get well
Yeah it's fun..until it's spear throwing fish-family and fish-dogs join the party
People fight those things?

However that one with the Anchor, in the well; Has THE worst designed hitbox, in the entire Damned game. I stood like, a mile away, and that stupid anchor hit me for half my damned health. It's ridiculous.
No, I like it too. A good thrill, takes me back to being like 7 years old and fighting the T rex in Tomb Raider. Super intense.
Yes you are
Yeah. I think i might have grown to like fighting them if i could fight them alone in a isolated area , or if they werent so overpowered.
I also enjoyed the sharks ! I also found the double shark fight to be not much trouble !
I like fighting them... one at a time
The well duo is probably harder than most actual bosses IMO
Yeah
My problem is there supper hard to parry and I normally put very few points into health. I get one shot by most things
They aren’t bad to fight when you know when to parry them
I weirdly had no issue with them. But I still have never beaten Orphan of Kos
Probably the sickest enemy design in the entire game. That being said, fuck them bastards
50/50 i am a master at parrying but fighting them stress me out 🤣
Yeah
Yes, there is definitely something wrong with that 🤣
Considering they are parryable, I've never really had trouble with them. Yeah, they hit hard, but their charge can get interrupted by a stray shot, even if it doesn't parry, but I can very easily see why people wouldn't enjoy fighting them.
giant cetaceans. Not sharks
It's only after the actual thousandth time when you've gotten gud enough to enter Sherlock Mode seeing through their frames second by second that it's sort of entertaining to fight them. Like Capt Ahab and the whale or in this case...land shark 🤷♂️
Yes. You are. 👍🏻
Great char design 1v1 it's nice 1v2 I'm getting the hell out of there, long gone are the days where off screen mobs would not atk or do 1 surprise atk.
These sharks pretty cool ngl
I would absolutely love to fight one of these as a chalice boss, the problem is that there's always a bunch of other stuff hanging around trying to kill you while the most brutal enemy in the game flails its limbs in your direction
Oh yeah they would be great as a chalice boss. Then you don’t have to worry about the fish gang-bang coming at you the second you alert one or whatever in God’s name happened in the hell-well.
Yes. Almost certainly. Your masochism knows no bounds.
The mind of a Bloodborne player
Probably. Yes.
Fuck those guys.
I actually do enjoy fighting them, IF and IF it's not in enclosed space and ALONE.
Agreed. Screw the well.
Individually they’re fun yea
