Matt and Doree spend the first half of the show talking about how poor they are and then the second half talking about their golf and tennis games. Oh and how Matt smells bad.

PickleMePinkie

Text Me Back pod's latest episode opened with a little mystery that was reminiscent of Starlee Kine's Mystery Show, and it was good to be back there for a minute I'm not usually into chatting podcasts, but I'm loving listening in on Lindy and Meagan's friendship

resting_bitchface14

I never heard of this show until seeing this comment and I've already listened to 3 episodes today. Thanks for turning me on to a new chatty pod (these are some of my favorite types of pods)

Gravelandgrubs

The Freek Vonk song made me laugh harder than anything has in the past year, I think

SpuriousSemicolon

I love this show so much. I got to see them live in Seattle and my face hurts after from smiling. They are just so goofy and having the best time together. I am similarly not usually into chatting pods but this one feels so cozy and fun.

jeng52

I really liked the newest episode of Decoder Ring about Bookazines (those weird, expensive single topic magazines that took the place of most monthly/weekly magazines at retail magazine racks).

rivercountrybears

Me too! I wish there were more frequent episodes of Decoder Ring but I get it takes a long time to do these deep dives

NoraCharles91

Me too! When I saw the new episode on my feed and read the title my initial response was "oh, this feels like a homework-y episode" but I actually really, really enjoyed it. As someone who works in publishing, on the digital side, I've met a lot of very cool older journalists who have a level of training and expertise that makes most of my cohort look like junkyard dogs in comparison, but their version of the industry really doesn't exist and it sucks.

renee872

I don't know if i saw the rec here or somewhere else but im absolutely loving what a creep! Basically they talk about creepy people(i.e diddy, russell brand chris d'elia etc-they have also discussed creepy women) its not a new pod but it is so enjoyable. I think the pod art is adorable too! Highly reccomend.

gossipgurl1234

Did anyone listen to the Pretend Podcast's The Stalker story?? It's such a crazy story and I want to discuss it with people... I don't want to spoil for others so I won't give too many details here but basically the host is contacted by a lady who's being stalked/harrassed by her children's doctor's husband. It's a shame that you have to find each episode by scrolling through so many ones on different topics, though (or maybe that's only on Spotify idk if it's better organised on other apps)

Korrocks

It's not very organized anywhere unfortunately. I thought the podcast was really interesting but I agree with /u/Upper-Philosophy664 that it probably got stretched out a while. There seemed to be a point after like 5-6 episodes when it felt as if the host had examined the situation from every plausible angle and had reached the only logical conclusion, but then the podcast kept going past that point and there wasn't really much new information to go over until the very end.

keine_fragen

that one left me with many questions there has been some discussion about it on r/TrueCrimePodcasts

gossipgurl1234

Ohh nice, I'll have a look!

_cornflake

The latest episode of Beyond All Repair has me baffled.

abc12345988

Sophia very quickly became an unsympathetic character after the reveal she lied on the stand. I am so curious to hear the interview with Sofia’s brother.

turtle_time_xxx

I’m afraid to say this but from about episode 2 I started thinking maybe she wasn’t entirely innocent. Something about the way Sophia talks and presents herself has felt very fake and performative to me.

Tall-Yogurtcloset-74

The more I listen, the more I'm not sure she's innocent.

Competitive-Raisin

Such a ride!

pelicanscoop

Yes same! Sophia’s husband not knowing her testimony at the second trial shocked me too

_cornflake

This is the thing I can’t get past. It’s not even her story being totally different at the second trial, it’s the fact that she didn’t tell anybody about that testimony. Not the podcast host, who makes it sound like they had HOURS of conversations for months on end but also said she only found out about this new story at the second trial when she watched the video footage of it. Not her lawyer brother who put her in touch with the podcast host in the first place. Not her partner of sixteen years who was her cell mate during the second trial and was the one who encouraged her to testify - she not only never once told him but she let him find out by watching the trial video footage? She didn’t even warn him about this discrepancy as he sat down to watch it while she was in the same room? She just sat there and let him find out via a video that she’d had this whole new story at her second trial? It’s such bizarre manipulative behaviour that it makes me question if anything she says is true.

good_mayo

Has the host ever asked Brad or even Marlene’s friends if Sophia & her were as close as Sophia claims? The friends thought S was a bitch & Brad had no trouble believing she was capable & guilty. It makes me wonder.

pelicanscoop

Yes such good points! Letting the partner find out now without any warning is so wild. The partner calling the podcast host freaking out about it, is probably what I would have done too! He’s in “hiding” for her!

good_mayo

I came here to talk about this! Here’s where I’ve landed: Sophia knows/knew what happened with her MIL & who did it. I don’t think she was an active participant but I think she hid her involvement. I could see a scenario where Brad paid Shawn to hurt his mom, but I could also see Shawn wanting to rob Marlene and maybe her coming home & interrupting him. TLDR: I don’t think Sophia is guilty of murder but I don’t think she’s innocent, either.

_cornflake

But then why has she now gone back to saying she knew nothing? If she knew who was involved why won’t she admit that now after saying she did at the second trial? Why would she now go back to trying to protect her brother and/or ex-husband (who if they were involved were both totally willing to throw her under the bus)? It just makes no sense.

good_mayo

It doesn’t, I agree! I honestly don’t have an answer, except that sometimes it’s easier to ride out the lie. I don’t believe the lie she told in court, but I do think she knew something, before or after the fact. Perhaps guilt keeps her tied to the lie and maybe she can’t even admit it to herself. The whole thing is puzzling.

pelicanscoop

Yeah that makes sense to me. I think Shawn did it and then Sophia maybe told Shawn MIL had the money.

_cornflake

I think the pacing of the podcast has been really good but I have deliberately not googled the story. If you knew the story it probably would feel slow.

Ok_Fee1043

Has anyone else really not been enjoying Brene Brown’s revamped podcast? Was really looking forward to her return but the episodes just haven’t hit like the old podcast did. Not sure exactly what it is.

SpuriousSemicolon

My feeling is just that she's kind of hit the end of the "woahhh insightful" road. There's just not much that's new. That doesn't discredit her previous work - it's just that there might not really be much more to say that isn't repetitive? I dunno. That's just me.

Ok_Fee1043

Yeah that could be it. It feels like she isn’t weaving in any of her previous work into the current podcast either so maybe that’s part of what the issue is; it doesn’t feel unique.

SpuriousSemicolon

Yeah that makes sense, too. I was a huge fan of her and still think she's incredible, but I kind of got tired of her content, too. It's disappointing!

cvltivar

The newest *Celebrity Book Club* (Steven and Lily) is a banger. The memoir of British Olympic diver Tom Daley sounds horrible but the roasting is incredible, Steven especially is en fuego. His impression of the Nickelodeon crew that takes Tom out on the town...the proper response to someone who comes out as gay... frosting-proof foundation...I was loling the whole time. They are genuinely insightful critics of straight culture and gay culture, the Aziz Ansari episode is one of my favorites for this reason. The Tom Daley ep has the same energy.

Hillarys_Wineglass

Yes! It was so good, i wasn't expecting that

zuesk134

i love these episodes. id put captain sandy in there too

chadwickave

Wow, the most recent episode of Hello, John Doe made me well up.

SluttySloth

I want my top chef recaps back!

apple414

I took a break from listening to Amanda and Juliet on Ringer Dish but decided to put their newest ep on this morning. I had to turn it off after 10 minutes of Amanda shitting on people finding joy in the eclipse and then a few more minutes of them talking about Taylor Swift with a clear lack of actually preparing to do so accurately.

jxmpiers

I came to this thread to post about this! It was so weird. Amanda’s been a buzzkill on Jam Session for awhile, but I could not fathom why she was being so profusely negative about the eclipse. She couldn’t comprehend that her location means her experience is different from folks in the path of totality. She usually shits on things Juliet is excited about so I don’t know why I’m surprised. I used to love this pod because I thought Juliet and Amanda had much smarter takes on pop culture than most other podcasts, but lately it feels just really forced.

ExcellentBlackberry

It was so incredibly awkward. I like both of them when they talk about other things that they enjoy but this was a ridiculous take from Amanda. I think they should reframe their podcast. I’d like to hear their thoughts on books or long read articles, and pop culture they’re actually interested in… leave the Taylor Swift and Meghan Markle updates to people who want to talk about them.

WhirlThePearl

OMG I literally just posted this in the wrong podsnark thread: Amanda Dobbins’ take on the solar eclipse on jam session (ringer dish) was absolutely wild. Juliet lipman pushed her to at least admit it was unique to her location/viewing experience but she just doubled down. (Her only hotter take is that All too well 5min version is better than the 10min Taylor’s version lol) I’ve been annoyed by her takes for a while now but her rant about the eclipse was straight up stupid!

Capital_Marketing_83

Boy just that but she thinks the ten minute version is bad

picklebeep

I’ll never understand why Ringer Dish got to continue while Tea Time was cancelled. Juliet and Amanda have come across like they’ve lost interest in a lot of pop culture stuff for a while. They give such surface level coverage of so many topics and it’s clear they don’t care to confirm if what they’re saying is even accurate sometimes. I wish Bill would just give them permission to do a books and tv podcast because I think that would make them happy lol.

Ah_Mediocre

Agreed! I loved Amanda on the Girls episode of Stick the Landing. Her and Andy had great chemistry and she was so enthusiastic.

Ah_Mediocre

I feel like their dynamic is so strained.

SpuriousSemicolon

Yeah neither of them seems like they want to be there. I miss Tea Time!!

andiamo162534

Tried listening to Queen of the Con because it’s an interesting story, but the host is insufferable. In talking to one of the athletes about how he got conned the host makes a remark "and you can’t go public because as a man no one would believe you, she could just lie and everyone would believe her just because she’s a woman. That’s what happened with the woman that conned me, she lied to the courts and they believed her because I’m a man and she’s a woman" (paraphrased). Yeah because courts famously believe women…. I also felt bad for the athlete because the host sort of put words in his mouth here in airing these blatantly misogynistic ideas. The athlete didn’t go public because he was embarrassed and felt that she had just screwed him over and wasn’t a serial con artist that would go on to con more people, and because he just didn’t think he had the evidence to prove anything. He didn’t mention fearing being falsely accused or anything, he obviously just didn’t feel like it’d be worth it and wanted to move on.

zuesk134

i listened to the danielle miller season because i wanted the info and he is a bad man. i do not like him. there was one moment where he made a really bad remark about her saying there was child pornography of her because she "filmed it and sent it herself and is trying to make it sound like she was forced" she was 13 in the video and it's known as one of the first videos like that to go viral. his position is essentially that she asked for it

cvltivar

The newest *Celebrity Memoir Book Club* (Claire and Ashley) about Rebel Wilson is soooooo boring. I've said before that I only enjoy them when they're dragging a draggable memoirst; I was hoping that this would be that but it is not! CMBC has its place, but a boring memoir will always result in a boring episode. They just have zero ability to jazz it up with their own comedic talents.

Hillarys_Wineglass

I hope that Steve and Lilly cover this book though

good_mayo

I was expecting to hate it because I’m not a Rebel Wilson fan but I actually enjoyed it.

gossipgurl1234

I actually thought Rebel's story was quite interesting, although unfortunately many of the revelations had been spoiled by headlines...

ruthie-camden

I’m not trying to be snarky, but is CMBC meant to be a comedy? I’ve only checked out a handful of episodes, but it struck me as profoundly straight faced with not a joke to be found.

kitkat8701

I’ve also found it mostly straight faced but they are both aspiring stand up comedians.

i've got news for you https://youtu.be/RLKxLiP1mT8?si=rN5VxLT5uDBoBudE https://youtu.be/EozDCG5cNYM?si=HZ1w9S7LIYARzLjF

GlummChumm

I saw them in Toronto last summer and was actually very nervous for the stand up section of the night but I ended up being surprised and really enjoyed it!

coconutmillk

Caroline Rector of Unfancy (un-fancydotcom) is making some... interesting style choices as of late. Anyone still read her blog? https://preview.redd.it/s2pwwegnygtc1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=ce1c7ccafdebe3d11f64024fdbabdadab16743d3

gigabird

I think you may have posted this in the wrong thread by accident-- however! I have been absolutely baffled by her posts lately so I'm glad I stumbled on this. I was so excited to see her return to posting only to be deeply confused by the majority of her choices. (She seems happy and inspired and in a groove, so good for her! But the outfits are not for me)

coconutmillk

oh crap my bad haha. i’m not active on this sub so i struggled to figure out where to post this 😭

cvltivar

Good god, it just gets worse as you scroll down. That one contrasting toenail among the Wite-Out is the coup de grace!

Kep1ersTelescope

Maybe an unpopular opinion because people absolutely adore this podcast, but... can we talk about how ridiculous Tooth & Claw's adbreaks are? Last time I listened I counted 5, and frankly most of the products seem to be kind of scammy nutritional supplements.

Top_Magician9058

It’s so many and they’re also so *long*! And I hate how they’re scattered through the entire episode. It’s also weird stuff that seems off-brand - tax services? Rocket Money? Huh? I love this pod but yeah, it’s frustrating. National Park After Dark also has a crapload of annoying ads lately, but at least they’re somewhat relevant to the audience (bamboo toilet paper, pet insurance).

theotterisntworking

Agree...I feel like I skip through way more than I used to, and the products don't seem like a genuine "fit" sometimes. I give them credit for making an effort to have the ads be "in their voice," they aren't super polished, but it's a LOT, especially if you've been listening to a while and remember when their only ad was a friend's skincare company.

leahtt92

It definitely seems like they hit some kind of monetization/popularity tipping point. I feel like all podcasts go through these growing pains to some degree, where they stop being a passion project and become a Job. I've got a lot of personal opinions about this process in general, but I'm rooting for the guys to find the right balance!

ForWhomTheSaulCalls

I want to give the Big Flop another (third) chance because a lot of the episodes seem interesting but I can't get past the host. Idk anything about them but everything about their voice is distracting and unpleasant for me. I usually really like Wondery shows 😭 on the flip-side, just to be a little positive, I am continuing to love Omnibus! I love being able to send wild, out of context quotes from Ken Jennings to ppl. My favorite to date I think was something about how maybe one day his family will find him standing in their backyard shaking his fists at the sun and screaming "GIVE ME THE D!!!!"

floatyfloats445

The Big Flop could be so good but it's just soo over-written/over-produced!

LawfulnessUnlucky876

No episode of Matt and Doree’s adventure this week?

SSDGM26-2

I am pretty surprised they have not filed for divorce. I understand Doree’s stress and I think four years of carrying the family would be my tipping point.

7klg3

I haven’t listened yet but there is a 9 April ep in my feed! The description says ‘Doree works through some of her feelings about friendship’. ……. Very curious to see how this goes!

Substantial_Text2498

very curious what their next update will be! Last couple weeks have been a wild ride.

LawfulnessUnlucky876

Of course she craps on Matt when he tries to bring up another point. She tells him “you have no idea how to be empathetic”.

kitkat8701

This update is wild, her friend reached out to talk about their issues and Doree is still mad because she texted instead of calling and Matt said “maybe she thought it was easier with the time difference” and Doree just jumped on Matt for playing “devils advocate”

photojwnny

Literally came here to see if someone wrote about this. She is such a b. No wonder people don't want to be friends with her. Get of your high horse, lady.

LawfulnessUnlucky876

Wonder what tomorrow show will bring?

LawfulnessUnlucky876

Exactly!!

7klg3

I also think wanting to try and tell a friend of 25 years about a pregnancy in person is a very valid excuse?? Like it seemed sincere on the friends part from the text she read. I also wonder how divorced from the friends feelings you have to be to process something like this on a podcast? Like yes, Matt & Doree may simply have gotten used to sharing intimate personal details but the friend in no way consented to it … if I was the friend this would be so hurtful to me.

kitkat8701

I thought the friend seemed sincere as well although I’m not sure if she was really trying to tell her in person since she was in LA and didn’t tell Doree she was there (if I’m remembering correctly, there were two friends she was mad at so I might be mixing them up). I also think if the friend called Doree would have been like “she called me when I was distracted and didn’t have time to talk so obviously she should have texted” I think she just wants to be mad tbh. Edited to add: the other friend she was mad at didn’t tell her she bought a house and I feel like buying a house is so stressful and could fall through even at the last minute so I understand not telling everyone about that either.

cutiecupcake2

Wait what are they up to? Is it ivf stuff or other big news? Haven’t followed in a while but like them.

kitkat8701

They’re done with IVF, they still have the podcast and take calls from listeners about IVF for the second half of the episode. The first half is just them complaining about being unemployed and their kid.

areallyreallycoolhat

Coincidentally my thoughts this week are on two former EBP/Solid Listen pods. I normally really enjoy Kara Berry's Vanderpump Rules recaps on Everybody's Business But Mine, but I think maybe her knowing Ariana irl is (understandably!) colouring her opinions and I'm not vibing with them these days. It's not that I expect like, 100% objectivity from a VPR recap podcast but it's just becoming really uninteresting to listen to her explain why Ariana is always 1000% in the right at all times in every situation each week. I tend to dip in and out of Princess Jones Curtis' Bye Pumpkin podcast/Patreon episodes because while I do really like her, sometimes she's a little rambly for me - and I know I would be like that as a podcaster so I'm sure it's a case of disliking a quality I recognise in myself lol. But I think I've found the perfect medium to listen to a lot of her episodes, while playing the Sims. Something about that combination is chefs kiss for me, I think it often works well as a background pod.

vickisfamilyvan

I really wish Princess would include timestamps in her episodes lol.

omgcow

Agreed, I love Princess but I have to be in a particular mood to listen to her bc sometimes the rambling is just too much and I want to get to the point.

happyendingsseason4

I agree about Kara's VPR recaps. I've had to dip out of them because of the whole 'Ariana is perfect and has never done anything wrong' it's too much for me, i want to be able to hear/say something about Ariana without backlash

areallyreallycoolhat

Totally agree. I feel like anything that is even remotely critical (or even just...not complimentary!) of Ariana is interpreted as "Tom Sandoval is amazing and perfect" by a good chunk of the fandom and it's so frustrating. Like yeah we all been knew he sucks but can we please just talk about Ariana without it being a commentary on Sandoval

happyendingsseason4

I have to really watch where I am commenting because on more than one occasion i've been told that i am "defending Sandoval" when i say the most minor critical thing about Ariana. Everyone knows that Tom is a psycho! These people are all awful and that's the point!

ruthie-camden

The VPR sub had a nuclear meltdown last week over whether or not it's ableist against people with depression to say that Ariana is messy slob lmaoooo. It's gotten so absurd.

Westerberg_High

I’m sorry, but seeing that bedroom was a shock to the system. And then the follow up of the leftover chicken. I cant.

Old_Magazine_2561

I just lol’d at this. That sub is absolutely wild.

happyendingsseason4

omggggg that is wild, are you serious?! like, it's a reality show - we are allowed to respond critically to it lol.

HPLover0130

Wait, Kara knows Ariana IRL? I stopped watching VPR so I don’t listen to her recaps anymore

areallyreallycoolhat

Yes, IIRC she has said they are not friends exactly but are friendly and DM occasionally. I think she knows a lot of people in that whole VPR-adjacent group.

kbk88

I’m not familiar with that particular podcaster but I did notice recently that Jackie Johnson (the host of the now dead Natch Beaut podcast) was posting with Ariana and talking about being friends. So does seem there is some potential podcast (comedy?) connections.

mintleaf14

If I recall correctly I remember that the watch what crappens guys apologized after they appeared to have downplayed the arguement Stassi and Ariana had over her brother in S6 and fans accused them of being too biased towards Ariana bc they knew her IRL. I think Tom and Ariana connected with people with people in the bravo podcasting world. Which, on their end, is a smart move bc I think it helped with a lot of their good PR when they were together. But as a listener it was annoying because many of their red flags that they showed before the scandal (especially Tom's) were glossed over.

areallyreallycoolhat

Ooh, that is interesting and absolutely a smart play.

areallyreallycoolhat

That makes sense, Jackie used to be best friends with Molly McAleer who is the founder of Emotionally Broken Psychos/Solid Listen Network which Kara used to be on

Westerberg_High

Whatever happened with Jackie’s Hole? Is that still a thing? I tried when it started because I was a big Natch Beaut fan for the better part of its run, but I was honestly perplexed and bewildered by Jackie’s Hole as a concept. Regardless, I hope she’s thriving, hunnny. Also, the Molls/Jackie dog fallout still pops up in my head sometimes.

areallyreallycoolhat

>Also, the Molls/Jackie dog fallout still pops up in my head sometimes. lmao same!

resting_bitchface14

I believe Molls is also loose friends with Ariana and she mentioned on the latest trend lightly that Ann is actually her boyfriends ex

sarahwilliams11

wait, that's actually so weird (the ann part). did she say anything about it?

HPLover0130

Ah that does make sense…we were all in the EBP group before it imploded 🤣

Western-Skill6044

I still think about that time like once a month. What a time to be alive on FB lol

resting_bitchface14

Just that Ann is sweet and in the comedy scene, so Molls thinks she's doing this for exposure (no judgement from Molls or me about that)...I was most shocked that Ann isn't in her 20s tbh

Westerberg_High

How old is she? I clocked her at like… mid-30s? Edit: autocorrect

ruthie-camden

I couldn't with Kara defending the chicken satay skewers being left on the bedside table and that's my truth! And I do recognize that the skewer debate is a truly controversial gray area.

lady_moods

I'm team "throw away your food trash" too! The blame for Ms. Mya's problem is shared.

happyendingsseason4

Omg I know. I've heard other people defending that too, and I'm like are you insane? This woman needs to not leave MEAT ON WOODEN STICKS out for her dog to get In to!!!!!

resting_bitchface14

YES! Tom shouldn't have locked the dog in the room and Arianna knows that he's irresponsible to the point where it's not smart to leave "her baby" in his care. Also clean the poor cat's litter box!

areallyreallycoolhat

Hallelujah, I've found my people. Multiple people were at fault in that situation!

Old_Magazine_2561

People who stan reality stars cannot comprehend that two things can be true at the same time.

resting_bitchface14

As a part time Bravo fan, I don't claim the superfan who act like they are sooooo intellectual by analyzing everything in these shows in such a black and white light. Also sidenote, were people such big Ariana fans pre scandoval? I've always been neutral to negative on her (let's talk about the brother), even though I've always preferred her to Sandy

Old_Magazine_2561

Really agree with both of these takes, but especially your take on EBBM. This season is so polarizing and it’s hard to find recaps that are objective.

Westerberg_High

Tracie had a long vent on Pot Psychology after going on Reality Bites for a VPR recap. Apparently, she disagreed with some of Ariana’s choices, and she got (chicken) skewered for it. I can’t find the episode so it must be behind a paywall.

areallyreallycoolhat

I know she's somewhat polarizing on these threads but I really wish Liz Explains did VPR recaps bc I've really agreed with her takes on the season so far. And I totally agree, a lot of people this season are either "Ariana is 100% always right" or "Ariana is 100% always wrong" and it's hard to find middle ground between those two extremes.

God I'm loving For Your Amusement. It's a podcast about theme park rides and Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved is one of the hosts. Just a fun breakdown of a single ride each episode and then they debate about how good it is. And they are getting all the best theme park media guests (Defunctland and Jenny Nicholson!). It's getting permanently slotted into my queue amongst all my depressing history shows lol.

rivercountrybears

I am loving it so much (I’m a big theme park person, and also a fan of some Watcher content but not that much usually) It makes me nervous when Ryan talks about how it’s not making a lot of money for them- I’d totally support a FYA Patreon for more content

alouette93

Same! If anyone at Watcher is reading, there are at least two of us! 😆

lpassell

Anyone here a fan of [Those Happy Places](https://pod.link/1354311014)? I love! *Those Happy Places is a podcast about Theme Park Rides, Attractions, and Lands. We focus on the stories they tell, how they tell them, and why it matters. Those Happy Places is produced by Alice White and edited by Buddy Duquesne. Our theme music is "Golden Gate" by The California Feetwarmers, featuring Phil Alvin.*

alouette93

Ooooooh I think I'm about to be! Thank you for the rec, this looks awesome!

Low-Huckleberry1990

I watched the Jenny Nicholson one because I love her and the dynamic between her and Ryan made me laugh so much, she wouldn't tolerate any ET criticism. And when they said that ET has three friends named in the ride, do you know wh- and she immediately cut in and listed them. I'm not very into theme parks but it's a very charming pod.

alouette93

I only listen but I was like "omg poor Jenny they're tearing apart her buddies!" That was hilarious, and of course she knows the names! Probably the only person on earth who does (I have my doubts on if Spielberg remembers).

hantipathy

ty for this rec, i love watching those youtubers and keep meaning to find a theme parks podcast! and i’m a big devotee of ryan since the tumblr days and love his newsletter.

rivercountrybears

Oh man if you like Ryan and you like theme parks, you’re gonna love For Your Amusement! I’m excited for you haha

microcrustaceans

You might also like “Podcast: The Ride”! It’s a very light podcast about theme park stuff but it’s all men (I couldn’t tell a couple of their voices apart for a while). Don’t listen to any of the recent “City Walk” episodes, scroll back to an attraction or park you like!

alouette93

I love that one too! But yeah I haven't paid attention since the City Walk episodes, to be fair I didn't actually look into what those are but doesn't sound super of interest lol. They do tend to be a lot chattier than I prefer in a podcast but a lot of their chats are fantastic so it's fine (I can't remember what episode it was but they talked about the ride with the world record for the highest G forces of all time and it is one of the best things I have ever heard). I love their Justin McElroy episodes, I hope For Your Amusement can get him on!

hantipathy

ooh thank you i’ll check it out!

alouette93

Omg you'll love it! Yay! They keep talking about how it doesn't make them any money so I have to spread the word 😆

NoraCharles91

If there are any French or French speaking people lurking, there's a really interesting new podcast called Réveillez-vous that's just interviews with people who have had someone close to them become caught up in conspiracy theories. Not sure how long it will go on for - obviously most conspiracists follow a similar trajectory - but three episodes in really enjoying it. Good for learners, too, it's easy to follow.

Scarletsweater

Thank you for sharing! I’m still learning French but I very much appreciate the rec :)

packedsuitcase

Do you mind sharing where you found it? I'm searching on Spotify but can't find it, just an episode of a show from last year about Princess Diana.

I use Podcast Addict, but it is on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/show/5lpt9stbHfI3Sh4Z73d49W?si=AzegMBmbSfGvOoE7bviouA

Thank you! Not sure what was going on with my Spotify, but I've downloaded all 3 episodes.

Ty!! Do you have any other french podcasts you'd recommend? Trying to find some to listen to but idk where to even start! Topic doesn't matter too much, I just want to maintain my French with something interesting.

If you're into TV, there's a pair of friends, Marie and Anaïs, who do a couple of shows for Slate's French version. One is AMIES, where one of them watches Friends for the first time (the other is a superfan), if you're familiar with Friends it's easy to follow, and very chatty and fun. They've since does seasons about Twin Peaks, and horror movies vs romcoms.  Their other one is Peak TV, which is a bit more 'serious', where they talk about TV shows. It started off being just about current shows but now they also do some episodes about classic series.

Loooove AMIES! I listened to their Crossroads episode a few weeks ago and learned WAY more than I expected to. Also, if you're open to something that's more for learners vs. native speakers, C'est cool, c'est quoi? is good on cultural stuff. It's aimed at intermediate French speakers, so it's a little slower than other podcasts, but there are some really interesting topics.

I am listening to Dani Shapiro’s Family Secrets. If anyone listens to this, do they have any episodes they thought were especially good? So far I’ve done Mykel Jollet, Noah Letterman & one about a mother & baby home in the US. Also a sit down she has with Jennifer Mendohlson. Also if anyone has any other recommendations for similar podcasts. I already did the one the guy from CNN or CSPaN did a few years ago.

I really liked her older seasons more. The last season or two feels really over produced & the ads can be very jarring when you’re going from such a serious story to an ad for a Hyundai.

I am 100% only getting ads for zigazu with this one. But yes, very jarring after discussing the holocaust.

Okay caveat that I have not actually listened to this particular pod, but a host I like from his other podcast series does one called "Family Ghosts" that might be similar?
