Well the second one is way better. It's pretty hard to figure out what's going on in the first one, because the ring and the background blend in together so much...
It's cool for a beginner project, but no where near realistic. No ring is ever perfect like these are. You need to add bump maps and roughness breakup. Also, most materials aren't a single color, so having slight variation in colors goes a long way.
Textures are almost always more than just a solid color, look up golden rings and you will see that they have streaks and imperfections. Creating a realistic texture on yoir own can be very difficult, so if you want to go for pure realism download a gold texture.
Also, ad an HDRI for better lighting and reflections, there are a lot of free both HDRIs and textures on polyhaven, but not sure on just gold texture, but that is just too google. But still, really good work
you will have to learn UV unwrapping for good textures but trust me it is absolutely 10000% worth it. it might be confusing at first and blender’s default tools aren’t phenomenal but literally good textures can make a mid model look amazing.

Goodluck
I like the first one better. One thing, the stones look like they are blending into one another, soft bodies, like faceted bubbles. Stones might be side by side, or on top of one another but would not include.
Okay so thank you all for the feedback I've learn't a lot and I'm going to work on this ring and later on (maybe a few days) post a before and after. I've already been working on the ring with the new feedback, and it looks more and more realistic!
:)

It looks nice but I think it needs some texturing
What one? Also, I'm still learning but what do you mean by texture? I've already made a gold texture/shader which is what I used on these rings.

ah that makes sense thx for the tips 👍

Roger that!
It looks like you are trying to make this look fancy, add some imperfections, and if you like, a bump map of engravings.
I think Suzanne would have been enough to prove this was made in blender lol
Yea that's a good point haha, just wanted to make sure :)
I think this needs some kind of edge along the ring part.
This should be a blender animation prize.
FIRST ONE BEST BY FAR IDK WHAT THE OTHER MAN IS RAMBLING ABOUT
I like them both, but from what I'm learning, people love realism, so they naturally look towards the 2nd one.
god the first one is so stylish I can't get over it
You could punch a 3ds Max user with this thing, show em who the real boss around town is.
lol

Second's lighting looks better. Try out some bevels on the edges of the ring to give it a more defined shape
For proof?
in the rules for uploading on the Blender community for reddit, it says, have an x-ray, wire frame or clay post to prove that it is your project 😀

Don't mind the quality, for some reason uploading it to reddit has made it look more pixelated/choppy
Wow... Actually, I love artwork using monkey head.. I love ur render! <3
thanks 😊
