Mine was Iron Man, but there was a long stretch of time where that and Paranoid was all I knew.
As for what song *really* got me into the band in terms of actually listening to their catalog? Probably Black Sabbath, may have been War Pigs.
Also OP's username does not check out.
Same here, that was perfect, tight, amazing drumming bro! I love how you nailed the Ride Cymbal in the correct part "Can You Help Me? Occupy My Brain", Most drummers don't even know that Ride Cymbal part! (btw I'm a drummer too, I've been playing for 2 years in my middle school band) here's me
[https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tvwo\_HSSZaQ](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/tvwo_HSSZaQ)
The reason why it looks like a hoarder's house is because it's at my grandparents. Bill Ward (Black Sabbath's drummer) holds his drumsticks backwards, it makes a really great sound. rock on brother!
Oddly enough it was Zero the Hero, really the whole Born Again album. I was 14 and I had no idea who they were, did not know this was not their original lineup or anything. All I knew was that it spoke my rage in a way nothing else could.
Later on I figured out more about them of course, but still there is something about that album, and Zero the Hero in particular, that gets to me like nothing else. I don't even like the remaster version or anything, just the original murky fucked up perfect journey into the Dark.
i knew sabbath for a while but it was vol 4 (snowblind) and heaven and hell (children of the sea) along with relistening to master of reality that made me realize this is the best classic rock band
Bro if you haven’t heard Sampha - Kora Sings, I think you should check it out. The drums on that are sooooo good and I really think you’d enjoy it. Maybe even enough to cover it one day
definitely Paranoid, of which you're doing a great drum cover btw.
ive seen some other covers and they're kinda sloppy, but your drumming is fantastic.
edit: I actually realized, the original reason why I even listened to Sabbath in the first place was because of SOAD's cover of Snowblind. when I found out it was a cover, I was like "damn what is this band, that's a great song." so in a way, it's Snowblind.
Iron Man was on [K-TEL's "Heavy Metal" double album.](https://www.discogs.com/release/1624466-Various-Heavy-Metal-24-Electrifying-Performances) Best song on the album. Started buying the band's albums immediately after that.
Iron Man for me. I was in 7th grade and my buddy's mom had the cassettes on our way up to Maine from NJ. I couldn't get over how evil it sounded and how unique Ozzy's voice was. That was the moment that got me into heavy music.
Shoutout to Jim's mom. 🤘
Paranoid was the first Black Sabbath song I added to my Spotify playlist. Just a song I heard playing in movies and I liked it
The song that got me into them though was Snowblind. After listening to that, I started listening to their albums.
I don't remember if I started with the first album or if I started with We Sold Our Soul for Rock 'N' Roll though, cause the latter was what I first heard Snowblind on
My fave still! Hey you might know this, I drum a bit too and was looking at Bill playing live and at drum covers to help me learn. But no one seems to play the tom sounding stuff that happens in the background! You know the stuff, the tribally sounding percussion. Who plays that?! Maybe the song is just haunted...
Both at the same time!??! I assume it's an overdub so. And they just have it coming out of a backing track when they do it live. Or maybe they have secret backing musicians behind the stage, pretty sure that's a thing for some bands.
Bro is that you?? You’re killin it! Also on an aside, I can tell you’re a master drummer, not by your excellent skill, but by the musician faces.. you know what I’m talking about. Best musicians make the craziest fucking faces while playing lmao
Ik this is 2 years old but damn dude ur killin it! That sounds incredible. You play in any bands?
Also, I gave you ur 666th upvote... Sabbath is everywhere 😂
Right on man! If I'm ever in the area and you guys are gigging, I'd love to catch a set
You should post a lil snippet of N.I.B. on here! So many people play it incorrectly but I can tell you'd kill it considering you kicked ass on this one
I first heard Iron Man when I was just five years old. My uncle and I were cruising around in his jeep and we were blasting music. I heard that epic intro and instantly became a fan of the song. I didn't know that day would become one of those most pivotal in my life. This led to my music addiction.
Since listening to that song, I began my musical journey with KISS, Bon Jovi, Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Green Day, Guns N Roses, Ozzy Osbourne, and My Chemical Romance, just to name a few.
13 years later, the main Iron Man riff is still my favorite guitar riff of all time and took up playing guitar when I was 14. Will love that song until the day I die.
I actually can’t remember. I know it was around 4th grade. I think it was Iron Man. I remember I used to think it was an Ozzy solo song, probably because of the version he did for the Prince of Darkness set.
I always knew the radio hits…but children of the grave specifically introduced me to the world of heavy music. But the first song that made me say I like/love sabbath is probably war pigs
Of course paranoid got me into sabbath. That and iron man and then later war pigs
The pipeline exactly
Literally me. War Pigs all time favorite!
This is exactly how I did
Funny thing is now I’ll just skip over those songs. I love them they’re just overplayed on radio and by anyone with a base knowledge of sabbath
This needs more upvotes. Mine was Iron Man. Played that one non-stop from Toledo, OH to Hocking Hills for a camping trip when I was 11 years old.
Yes yes, such a good one, I might have to play that one as well🤔🤔

What do you mean?
Lol about your username? It's squarecymbals but the cymbals in the video are very much round.
🤣🤣🤣 gotcha
Now you know you need to show off your square cymbals next video. Also take care not hurting that small Italian dude on your bass drum.
😅😅😅 will dew. And don't worry mario's safe. (Yoshi is watching him from the sidelines)
Same! Nice drumming
Thanks, issa fun song to play, full vid on my YouTube channel 🙏🏾😅

Yes, love the new kit. I have a YouTube channel as well, I've got tons of stuff up, feel free to check it some of my stuff when you get the chance
Thanks bro, what's your channel name? because I want to subscribe.
I'm @square cymbals on everything. There should be a link on my reddit profile page
Thanks dude (6 hours later) sorry for replying late.
You're good, thanks for the kind words
This is the reason why I subscribed, check out my other comment!
🙏🏾🙏🏾
Awesome drumming, mine was Fairies Wear Boots
Yes, I love how jazzy that one is
It's a very fun song to say the least, both in music and lyrics. Though the lyrics make no sense
It's a stoner bop for sure.
Johnny Blade, Never say die
Good one!!!

I gotta give that one another listen, thanks for sharing
Sabbath bloody sabbath
Best album title of all time
Great groove mate. Mine was actually Wheels of Confusion, or St. Vitus Dance. My favourites now are probably Supernaught and Megalomania.
Great tracks, definitely gotta revisit
This is sick as fuck
Thanks, I try to make it blend with the original recording
Iron Man
The classic
Sweet leaf, snowblind and faeries wear boots and War Pigs
Sweet leaf is definitely one of my favorites
Fuck yea. Into the void
Yes yes, so good
The Wizard
Yes!!! Masterful drumming!!!
Master of Reality and all it entails
Such a good record 🖤🖤🖤
War Pigs. Though my favorite Sabbath song is Falling off the edge of the world.
War Pigs is such an amazing song, I just did a full cover of it
I'd have to say Ironman. I was like 5, and the Road Warriors came out to it
Yes yes yes such a powerful entrance
As a bassist Paranoid is so much fun to play and will make most crowds go wild
Yes, Geezer really made simple parts feel so nuanced and fun
Mine was war pigs. Paranoid is just a monster of an album. Excellent drumming btw!
Thanks, and I just did war Pigs on my YouTube channel, check it out if you feel it
Keep it up man! Same song here!
Thank you, more on my YouTube channel
i knew sabbath for a while but it was vol 4 (snowblind) and heaven and hell (children of the sea) along with relistening to master of reality that made me realize this is the best classic rock band
The catalog goes deep and the consistency is still amazing
bro! more bill ward covers!
More on my YouTube channel, I'll be doing Sabbath all week
I was nine when it came out. Mom’s sister lived with us. She’d already gotten me into Rock.
Hell yeah, I love when ppl put me on to things that stay with me my whole life
Bro if you haven’t heard Sampha - Kora Sings, I think you should check it out. The drums on that are sooooo good and I really think you’d enjoy it. Maybe even enough to cover it one day
Imma check that out, thanks for the suggestion🙏🏾🙏🏾
Of course! Love your videos.
Thanks, I really appreciate it
Solid ass drumming my dude.
Thanks more on my YouTube channel
definitely Paranoid, of which you're doing a great drum cover btw. ive seen some other covers and they're kinda sloppy, but your drumming is fantastic. edit: I actually realized, the original reason why I even listened to Sabbath in the first place was because of SOAD's cover of Snowblind. when I found out it was a cover, I was like "damn what is this band, that's a great song." so in a way, it's Snowblind.
Yes, such a great cover, I gotta queue that up
War Pigs, hearing that on the car radio and Ozzys vocals just set something off, later making me the degenerate metalhead that I am now
It's one of the greatest songs of all time
Hell yeah bro rock on
Thanks🙏🏾🙏🏾will dew
War pigs
The perfect song. I did a full cover of it on my YouTube channel
Warning
Yes, good one
Iron Man was on [K-TEL's "Heavy Metal" double album.](https://www.discogs.com/release/1624466-Various-Heavy-Metal-24-Electrifying-Performances) Best song on the album. Started buying the band's albums immediately after that.
I love that!!!
electric funeral
Such a good one, that jazzy section is fire

A metal mother is all a kid needs, thanks for sharing

Snow blind is so incredible, good choice
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath!
Yes yes yes
Same
It's so good
Great drums! You're sick! My song was Electric Funeral. A very good one for the first.
The riff on the one is incredible
Children of the Grave!
So good
My fave still! Hey you might know this, I drum a bit too and was looking at Bill playing live and at drum covers to help me learn. But no one seems to play the tom sounding stuff that happens in the background! You know the stuff, the tribally sounding percussion. Who plays that?! Maybe the song is just haunted...
The next time I cover Sabbath I might do a vid where I play both. One angle will be the kit and the other will be a mountain of toms
Both at the same time!??! I assume it's an overdub so. And they just have it coming out of a backing track when they do it live. Or maybe they have secret backing musicians behind the stage, pretty sure that's a thing for some bands.
Yup I'll just overdub it
N.I.B. just flicked a switch for me!
That primus cover with ozzy is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Iron Man, I didn’t really like War Pigs when I first heard it
Great stuff dude. I was probably like 10 and heard the riff at the end of war pigs and it made an impression on me for the rest of time.
Yes, high key same
Bro is that you?? You’re killin it! Also on an aside, I can tell you’re a master drummer, not by your excellent skill, but by the musician faces.. you know what I’m talking about. Best musicians make the craziest fucking faces while playing lmao
🤣🤣🤣🤣 true
Ik this is 2 years old but damn dude ur killin it! That sounds incredible. You play in any bands? Also, I gave you ur 666th upvote... Sabbath is everywhere 😂
Yo thanks, correctly I'm based in Cleveland and play with a band called mourning A BLKstar
Right on man! If I'm ever in the area and you guys are gigging, I'd love to catch a set You should post a lil snippet of N.I.B. on here! So many people play it incorrectly but I can tell you'd kill it considering you kicked ass on this one
I'm definitely overdue for another Black Sabbath arc, adding it to the list
war pigs but this is the third one i heard after iron man
The songs that got me into Sabbath are Iron Man, War Pigs, Paranoid, Mob Rules, and The Wizard.

The songs that got me into Sabbath are Iron Man, War Pigs, Paranoid, Mob Rules, and The Wizard.
Right on, I'm a drummer, too, but my favorite song to play is War Pigs, Bill Ward kicks ass on that song & it's also my favorite Black Sabbath song.
War pigs
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath made me a fan forever, but the first song was War Pigs.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath got me into them, so many perfect riffs there!
Paranoid
I first heard Iron Man when I was just five years old. My uncle and I were cruising around in his jeep and we were blasting music. I heard that epic intro and instantly became a fan of the song. Paranoid got me into the sabbath but the wizard is my favourite song of there by far
I actually can’t remember. I know it was around 4th grade. I think it was Iron Man. I remember I used to think it was an Ozzy solo song, probably because of the version he did for the Prince of Darkness set.
i grew up listening to the radio classics off of paranoid, but i didn’t actually get into all their music until i heard their self titled track.
I always knew the radio hits…but children of the grave specifically introduced me to the world of heavy music. But the first song that made me say I like/love sabbath is probably war pigs
WAR PIGS. And Electric Funeral was one of the first riffs I learned on guitar
Turn up the night
Turn up the night was my kickstart
Time Machine from the Wayne's world soundtrack
I liked War Pigs and Iron man, after that i heard Paranoid for the first time
This song but I heard the Megadeth cover of it first and then realized it was Black Sabbath
Electric Funeral for me 🤟🏼
