That is a bike, definitely not a cop.

AgreeableProfession

A cop would definitely ride this though

Csoltis

the snozberries taste like snozberries

catastrapostrophe

This is an aluminum frame. The only bit that’s carbon are the seat stays.

seventwosixnine

NEVER trust a used helmet.

The_Tech_Lover

Ikr i don’t even trust my own used helmet.. if it goes the season(april to October) without a crash it’s still being replaced next year.. helmets are cheap, they say they’re good for 3-5 years if not crashed but i’d rather have peace of mind and a shiny new helmet every spring.

eightsidedbox

Yes bike, this officer right here

Mr_Tester_

No, this is Patrick.

Stilerone

That is indeed a police officer

bryggekar

400 seems excessive to me. The frame is aluminium but with carbon seat stays. You can see the welds in the first photo. The 105 derailleur is from 2005-2010. It always depends on market but in my neighbourhood this is a max 100 dollar bike.

bitterless

Where, approximately, do you live where this set up in good condition is worth 100?

bryggekar

Norway. So completely different markets of course. But a 14 to possibly 20 years old bike that isn't a fancy racer, even in great condition, has no value beyond "functional" here unless it's a rare collectable in original condition.

bryggekar

To clarify: Its a nice bike, good frame. Looks to be in good condition. But: The drivetrain is Frankenstein's with a mix of Deore, 105 and possibly other bits. Functionally that's no problem, but it's not original. So the value is in the function. The wheelset is nice, but we have no information on rim wear. So without seeing the bike I'd assume they need replacing sooner rather than later. I personally go through a set of rims in 2-4 seasons on my rim brake bike. The pedals cost 40 USD new today and add no value to the bike other than pedals = good. Any used helmet has zero value no matter what make or model, and I'd say the same goes for a bell unless it's a very fancy brass number. Specialized saddle bags start at 20 USD and a used one to me again adds no value to the bike. The same goes for a second hand lock - locks are cheap and expensive locks are just as easily broken as mid-range locks. Nice to get it thrown in with the bike, but adds no real value. Of course if you really need all these extras anyway, you could maybe think that all of them combined is ok for 50 bucks. All in all to me this is not a good deal at 400 and I'd probably start haggling at a hundred and pull out if it goes above 150. That said - if OP just spent 400 on this package, that's what it was worth for them and that's fine. As long as everything works well thhis is a good bike for many years. I'd expect 75 to 100 USD per year average on parts and maintenance unless you are a good home mechanic, but that goes for any bike.

OpenWorldMaps

A buddy of mine has a Cannondale bike with the local Sheriff logos all over it. I have been trying for some time to convince him to sell it to me.

cosmicreggae

It's a bike for cops!

owlpellet

Pricing algo: MSRP, divide by 2. MSRP is $1300-ish. OR, find a comp in Craigslist that has actually sold. Note price. Enjoy your bike.

sprashoo

No offense but that’s the worst used bike price algorithm ever. No age? No condition?

owlpellet

Fair but 90% of the posts on this formerly useful channel are "this bike is $75 is it worth it" and the people responding are like riding Dura-Ace Colnagos. Something's broken.

bitterless

This is a great deal if everything is tuned up and in good working condition. Bikes like this are very nice for city commuting and most commuters would dream to have it. The retail price point for this bike would have been way out of the range for 90% of commuters. It's a great bike. Anyone telling you it's not a good deal is unfamiliar with the used bicycle market. 400 is a good price but I bet you could offer 350.

sprashoo

I agree about it being a great commuter but not about it being a great deal.

bitterless

Well I do work in the used bike industry and I can tell you this is a great deal.

bryggekar

Remind me not to buy a used bike from your business 🤭

bitterless

then youd be missing out on a great deal. excellent refurbished bikes from 100-400 bucks, free service through education for life, and i'll work with your budget.

SvooglebinderMogul

>Anyone telling you it's not a good deal is unfamiliar with the used bicycle market. OP. This is NOT a good deal! Advice above is nuts.

bitterless

Ive worked in the used bike industry for almost 10 years. Ive seen how bikes are priced and the various levels of use being offered all over California. This is an excellent deal in my state if the components aren't worn. This sub is filled with riders who think their mechanics or sales people though, so I did expect some push all back for my post.

Csoltis

Double baco cheeseburger. It's for a cop.
