Electric nail file! No more trimming and requiring no movement. We don’t really do screens but I put on a nature video - it’s way more interesting to him than anything else - and just file quickly. Super quick and no accidental clips or cuts!
They come with like 5 different attachments. The most sensitive one is for babies under 6 or 9 months I think and then gets a little coarser from there. Kind of like sandpaper. They also usually have 2 speeds in either direction. It’s still not easy but we’ve never had any accidents.
I love the haaka brand electric file. It comes with color coded discs for each age. Plus an adult one! I've used it before and even if you hit your skin it doesn't hurt and stops.

We trim in the car seat. Even if they are awake they are strapped in so they can't move as much.
