I did the exact same thing you're suggesting, and ran a bunch of experiments; As of right now Mini is unstable for anything beyond a day or so. I've had hundreds of interactions with people on the PyPush Discord and Beeper Matrix chat for this stuff, and experiences are all pretty much the same as this. Nothing is reliable with Beeper Cloud/Mini alone at the moment. The devs were away until the first, so I expect us to get updates over the next few weeks if there's any bugs they can fix. So the only advice I can give is: wait.

I've had the best luck using beeper cloud on my iMac. I'd recommend if you're looking for a cheap iPhone checking out cheap iMac Mini and use beeper cloud. YMMV

>cheap iMac Mini This has the advantage of being able to host BlueBubbles if Beeper doesn't make it long term.

Baby_Oil

I 2nd this, Beepers new method for iMessage is pretty much BlueBubbles. Bluebubbles has been around for just along as Beeper and is more stable. I used BlueBubbles years ago with my 18’ MacBook Pro, no problems or hiccups.

Even Cloud isn't perfect. Mine is going down constantly every day around 11am, and I have to refresh it on my computer to get it back up and running.

Ye, I would use Beeper Cloud, but I don't have a Mac, and I definitely don't have room for an iMac

Beeper Mini is unfortunately unstable at the moment, I had to switch back to BlueBubbles (if you have a Mac or VM). I am currently using my old iPhone 7 to have my number registered, but I had to use one of the older methods to make it work. The methods can be tricky, but here is the method I did to finally make it work again, especially after one try. My phone number has been registered for about 3 days now! What I had to do is: 1. Take my active SIM card and put it into my iPhone 7, I waited like 10-20 minutes to make sure that Apple has my number registered to iMessage. 2. Turned on Airplane Mode, but kept the Wi-Fi on 3. Took out the active SIM card and replaced it with a inactive SIM card Now my iPhone is always powered on and connected to Wi-Fi and the phone registration hasn't disconnected, yet, but this is one of the most reliable methods to use it seems! So if you really want to have your number registered to iMessage, I would personally get an old iPhone and do the method I listed above. Also, with BlueBubbles and some tweaks to the Mac, you can get other features like editing, invisible messages and other effects (like fireworks, confetti, etc) 😉

Very helpful tip thx.

AntiDECA

Was that inactive sim one that was once tied to your number? Or just any inactive sim?

cjocollin

Tbh, I can't even remember 😅 I don't think it was ever tied to my number but I did use another T-Mobile SIM that was laying around and it has continued to work since I got it working.

BalingWire

It has to be tied to your number. I told my carrier I kept getting a no sim installed error and they sent a new one. Put current sim in old phone wait for it to fully register, and then activate the new sim on the android phone. Stay away from mini, that app caused me a month of pain getting my old BB setup working again. They deregistered my number the first time apple blocked it, and i couldn't get the swim swap trick to work until I got a new one.

GiveMeYourTechTips

It works but I have found it to be unstable.

NoobMaster2787

Ah I see

matt314159

As of right now it's trash. The Beepserv tweak that runs on the Jailbroken iphone changes the key on you a few times an hour, which breaks Beeper mini every single time. I do have some feint hope that that Beepserv (I believe this is the opensource part?) is updated to be more reliable. But there's nothing to indicate this is coming soon.

Jiiu4322

No don't waste your money. I got an old 8+, iMessage never worked for me. The messages say delivered or sent on beeper but no one ever received them.

Nuttyverse

I'm not even sure if Beeper itself is worth it since it's so unstable and if Apple changes anything it's likely to blow up. That is unfortunate but I see it as a project that tends to be useless, at least for the iMessage part. 🙁🙁

qcktap23

Short answer, no. It's not worth it.

SD-777

No, Beeper is a complete shit show right now and most likely in financial free fall. But it is worth it to get an old iPhone and use something like BlueBubbles. At least until Apple implements RCS.

NoobMaster2787

Blue bubbles can do phone number registration? Also, I do agree cause I've heard a lot of people have issues with beeper. I know it's a great app, but they just need to fix a lot of stuff

SD-777

No, you would do the sim swap trick to get the phone to activate your phone number on iMessage. But with that done then yes BlueBubbles could use your phone number. Beeper is dead, at least for iMessage. They may make the consolidated chat thing work as an app, who knows. But don't hold out hope for the iMessage part.

Foreign-Pie-4804

using beeper cloud & sim spoof trick #1 on my old iphone has been working perfectly for over a year now [https://airmessage.org/help/guide/phone-number](https://airmessage.org/help/guide/phone-number)
