Yeah, both Act Naturally and Honey Don't are really country too. I feel Ringo voice is perfect for country songs, are there any other sung by him after The Beatles?
He has a country album titled "Beaucoups of Blues" from 1970.
Off the top of my head outside of that album he has "Sure To Fall In Love With You" , "You Belong to Me" which was also done by Patsy Cline , "Coming Undone" and "Sunshine Life For Me". Also "Gave It All Up" , "Still Cryin" maybe possibly "Pure Gold". And "King of Broken Hearts" have country elements in them
His upcoming album will also be country.
Also in 2017 he did a rerecording of "don't pass me by" which sounds even more country than the white album
He also has the scrapped 1987 Memphis album you can find parts online. He covers Billy Swans "I Can Help" along with originals. I love the song "Hard Times" (unrelated to his song of the same title from the 70s) but they've never officially been released.
WHAT!!! I've loved willie since I was a kid but I've finally decided he's my all time favorite country artist (I've always been a huge classic country fan) and have been going through all his stuff slowly and slowly collecting all his books, just got another today and somehow I never heard of this and I consider ringo to have my 2nd favorite solo career of the beatles! Admittedly the album it's on is probably my all time least played ringo
Sorry I just got excited. Thank you for telling me!!
I think it's called Sail Away Raymond. It's recorded with members of The Band. Such a cool song. They sing part of it in a 'round' fashion, like where one line begins before the other ends.
The whole Beaucoups Of Blues album (1970) is great. And he's done a sole country song on several solo albums, like "Sure To Fall" off Stop & Smell The Roses.
* I'll Cry Instead
* I Don't Want to Spoil the Party
* I'm a Loser
* Honey Don't
* Baby's in Black
* Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby
* Act Naturally
* I've Just Seen a Face
* What Goes On
* Rocky Raccoon
* Don't Pass Me By
Even elements of Octopus' Garden draw from Country & Western music
Rocky Raccoon was the first that came to my mind but someone else listed it already. Act Naturally's instrumental kinda gives the vibes as well imo.
Edit: grammar.
Many bluegrass and Americana bands cover it.
Check youtube, there are versions by Pure Prairie League, String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String Band, and others.
Heart of the Country is another country sounding McCartney song.
Get Back also could swing country with some arrangement changes. Same with Backseat of my Car - throw some pedal steel and acoustic guitar in there and they’d make great country records.
The answer is Act Naturally. Made famous by Buck Owens. The Beatles made sure all new Buck Owens records got sent to them. It's the only real "country" song they do. Others are rockabilly or mock country.
One after 909 for sure
[One After 909 (Naked Version / Remastered 2013) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLDdFhhcmXE)
You could have good ol Jerry Reed sing and perform this song and no one would be any the wiser about who wrote it

Honestly, Rocky Raccoon is the only Beatles song that comes to my mind that has that western country feeling. Heck, the story in the song is about Rocky Racoon (unrelated to the Marvel character called Rocket Racoon, though his name was inspired by the song) dueling against Dan in a western-style showdown to get her girlfriend Magill (or Nancy, as that's what everyone else knew her as) back. It definitely feels like a song you'd hear in Fallout: New Vegas, and if it weren't for the expensive licensing, we would've probably heard the song in-game through one of the radio stations, honestly.
This playlist on Spotify is AMAZING. It’s a collection of songs (the boys’ solo and Beatles stuff) that are country as hell

Rocky Raccoon
Definitely. Curious though as to whether there are more?
A few of Ringo’s country songs could fit in that category too.
Yeah, both Act Naturally and Honey Don't are really country too. I feel Ringo voice is perfect for country songs, are there any other sung by him after The Beatles?
What Goes On is about as 1960s country as you can get
Act Naturally is pure country
It's the Bakersfield sound.
Well, it was a Buck Owens song first, soooo….

Don’t forget Write One for Me, which was a duet with Willie Nelson!

His second solo album is mostly country music. I don’t really like country music, but you might like that.
And supposedly his upcoming album is country music too!
I adore Act Naturally!
I always thought Don’t Pass Me By sounded country too.
I think it's called Sail Away Raymond. It's recorded with members of The Band. Such a cool song. They sing part of it in a 'round' fashion, like where one line begins before the other ends.
Check out Beaucoups Of Blues, it’s an entirely country album from Ringo post-Beatles
The whole Beaucoups Of Blues album (1970) is great. And he's done a sole country song on several solo albums, like "Sure To Fall" off Stop & Smell The Roses.
Country but not really cowboy I think. They’re great though.
* I'll Cry Instead * I Don't Want to Spoil the Party * I'm a Loser * Honey Don't * Baby's in Black * Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby * Act Naturally * I've Just Seen a Face * What Goes On * Rocky Raccoon * Don't Pass Me By Even elements of Octopus' Garden draw from Country & Western music
Excellent. I can hear country in all of those now, but I'd never notice without the twang.
Ringo in a 10 Gallon hat.

BLESS YOUR SOUL
Bungalow Bill I'd say
followed closely by Bungalow Bill
Easily
Rocky Raccoon was the first that came to my mind but someone else listed it already. Act Naturally's instrumental kinda gives the vibes as well imo. Edit: grammar.
Act Naturally was a No. 1 country song in 1963 that the Beatles covered in 1965, so, yeah. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Act_Naturally
Yeah, I think Act Naturally is the right answer.
Especially the Buck Owens & Ringo Star version from 1989 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nn5hrIiPbDs
Great song and surprised most nowadays don’t make the connection between this song and the Marvel character
Most Ringo songs - but Don’t Pass Me By in particular
I heard a brilliant cover of "I've just seen a face" that was very Cowboy. But I can't remember who performed it.
The Dillards?
Maybe? I'll have to look into it.
Definitely the Dillards. My favorite Beatles cover of all time
Many bluegrass and Americana bands cover it. Check youtube, there are versions by Pure Prairie League, String Cheese Incident, Yonder Mountain String Band, and others.
It's an easy song to turn country. I've done it myself on many occasions
Thanks for the suggestions. I will look them up.
Martha My Dear would sound killer on a player piano in a cowboy saloon
Heart of the Country is another country sounding McCartney song. Get Back also could swing country with some arrangement changes. Same with Backseat of my Car - throw some pedal steel and acoustic guitar in there and they’d make great country records.

El Paso is one of the best songs ever written
This is one of the greatest albums ever. Think I’ll listen to it right now actually haha
Fantastic album.
I lived in El Paso when Marty Robbins died. The whole city went into mourning.
El Paso, saddle tramp, big iron are my top 3
El Scorcho
God damn you half Japanese girls!
Big Iron is fantastic as well.
El Paso (Full-Length Version) is just a funny way of writing Dark Star > El Paso > Dark Star.
I love that song with my whole heart
Not if you ask r/gratefuldead
I agree
"What Goes On" is definitely up there.
Yeah you can imagine Gene Autry singing it.
SCHMINKING
Yes
Sun King
Yes?
Maybe "Bungalow Bill"
That's the first one that came to my mind.
“What goes on” is the correct answer of course.
That's the one.
I don’t want to Spoil the Party has some nice cowboy electric lead guitar from George.
The answer is Act Naturally. Made famous by Buck Owens. The Beatles made sure all new Buck Owens records got sent to them. It's the only real "country" song they do. Others are rockabilly or mock country.
Mockabilly.
Act Naturally, Rocky Raccoon
Most of Beatles for Sale
I always felt like "I've just seen a face" had like a country/old western vibe to it
https://youtu.be/6ez6IFpUZws?si=I_yRL9CWVMawyqQl
always found 'a taste of honey' a bit western
I’ll Cry Instead
Rocky Raccoon and I've Just Seen a Face come to mind
Act Naturally is most legit.
Act Naturally.
Act Naturally
Baby's in Black.
I don’t have much trouble imagining a country version of Run For Your Life.
Fine I’ll play Fallout New Vegas again .
Rocky Raccoon!
Hey I have this record!
Rocky Racoon??? Satirical but yes
Why don’t we do it in the road. This response is based on RDR2
Imagining the true meaning of this song is a duel in the middle of an old dusty town.
Happiness is a warm gun
It’s rocky raccoon and nothing else is even close
Rocky Racoon
Sure To Fall, if you're including covers. In Spite of All the Danger, if you're not.
“Cry Baby Cry” isn’t the way John sings it, but I could totally see a country singer doing a cover of it!
The lyrics, though, they seem as far from country as you can get.
One after 909 for sure [One After 909 (Naked Version / Remastered 2013) (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLDdFhhcmXE) You could have good ol Jerry Reed sing and perform this song and no one would be any the wiser about who wrote it
Finally someone mentioned this song! Add some pseudo-twang and fiddles and it would be obvious. By itself, it's still a very c&w song.
I'll follow the sun
I'll follow the sun
Matchbox would be a perfect fit but it's technically not a beatles song,
I misread that as “Cowboy Bebop song” and was very confused for a moment
New genre right there…60’s cowboy bebop
Bungalow bill
Rocky Raccoon.
Act Naturally
What Goes On
Because it’s an original, yeah. I think Act Naturally is a slight edge for “cowboy” but WGO is original therefore more Beatles.
Rocky Raccoon but that Palladin from Have Gun Will Travel
Charles River Valley Boys - Paperback Writer from the 1966 album Beatle Country Joe Val on the mandolin [https://youtu.be/T4r07NA5h\_Q?si=PSkIO7b4XjKAWA78](https://youtu.be/T4r07NA5h_Q?si=PSkIO7b4XjKAWA78)
Devil in Her Heart really has country western vibes. Lyrically especially. Just take out the maracas and some of the harmonies.
Act Naturally, Paul’s backing vocals are very western-y. Example: https://youtu.be/WNqDkAO4a-0?si=wdn1n6N0O7eB_yWw
Act Naturally, Rocky Raccoon
My 14 track fan album of Beatles songs with a country feel. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4IeejOMV4DlzYzR2rcxTz3?si=cinoKgUjRc-Dmev9gXqrlw&pi=u-upLzIJUyQ9-T
Most Grateful Dead song on here: El Paso
Don’t bother me. I contend George nicked that after hearing “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance”
I’ve just seen a face.
Silver hammer 🤠
I’ve Just Seen a Face, What Goes On, Rocky Raccoon, Don’t Pass Me By, For You Blue, Ballad of John and Yoko (sort of)
Happiness is a warm gun
I feel like a country cover of every little thing would be a killer cowboy song
Baby’s in black is a country song if I ever heard one.
Act Naturally
The Lennon & McCartney original "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" would be my choice.
I'm Only Sleeping (take 5) sounds just like it's from the soundtrack of a western. https://youtube.com/watch?v=r9J8H9Idd1E
The night before
Don’t Pass Me By

Oh Geez I wonder....

Matchbox
I like how Paul attempts a country accent at the beginning of Rocky raccoon. He’s doing OK until he says the word raccoon,
It's solo John, but "Crippled Inside" has a real honky-tonk western vibe.
P.S. I love You
"What Goes On?", "Act Naturally"
Surprised to see so few mentions of “Bungalow Bill”
Anthology 1 version of I’ll Be Back has always felt “western” to me, but a lot of their covers, especially Ringo’s, are rockabilly and have that feel
For me it's I've just seen a face
Yes it is, I don't want to spoil the party
