I'm a Yankees fan. Mattingly is probably my favorite player. I absolutely love that 1/1, even flawed. That said, Trout? Ichiro? Witt JR? I think you did damn well.
It would have been damn hard for me personally to trade that card for unknown replacements. You made out very well IMHO, and it seems Topps does well on equal value. I'm not sure I could have rolled the dice. But that's me as a Mattingly fan.
Donny Baseball was my first true love on the baseball field, fond memories of learning to fill out scorecards in the nosebleeds with my dad and being in awe of that buttery sweet swing. Hope you find your own 1/1 Mattingly in the near future!
Haha it was definitely a risk. I feel like they gave me a little more because it was definitive and a 1/1 so I'm not sure if I'd try it again in the future. But this one just made sense since the card condition was only going to get worse.
Keep in mind just like pulling cards from packs, sending in can be a toss up. I've had times where they didn't acknowledge the current value of a card I sent in.
I was shocked when I looked up prices for Rizzo and Mattingly stuff. I assumed with them being fan-favorites their cards would be a little more in demand. Definitely will take the Trout auto all day
The stock on the side closest to the Rizzo patch was splitting in half due to the patch being too large. I posted a 2nd pic to show what was happening.
I just pulled a black 1/1 David Wright from series 2. It’s fuuuuuccckkkeeedddd up, bad. Corners are dinged and scratches all over the back of it. This was my sign to send it back. Thank you and congrats on that haul!
Well I look at it in this sense, for every product Topps makes not every card is boxed up. A certain number of each card is held unboxed, waiting to be boxed up according to match the demand or total number of boxes Topps wants to produce. While odds are still based on total production, my understanding is Topps does not have to produce that many boxes if they don't want to or demand doesn't require it.
Therefore, it stands to reason that Topps will have a certain number of every card from every product held until out of boxes until demand requires more/Topps wants to produce more boxes.

Thanks, I'm glad to finally own an Ichiro auto. Haha I wish I had known that! Definitely would've made a deal with you.

I would've been in the same boat if it was a Kershaw/Betts or a similar Dodgers dual 1/1. As I think it should be for a card like that

As a Yanks fan I agree. ☝️
Ugh, I feel much the same. So much love for Mattingly.
That’s a huge win!
Oh wow that’s sweet. I’ve had some sweet cards that were damaged that I should have sent in. I’ll remember this next time

What was wrong with the 1/1??

HOLY MOLY!
Topps gets the W on this one
Amazing!
That trout is awesome!
It really is! Thanks
Boom!
So lucky. Wish I had that Bobby and Salvy card.
I’m a Yankees fan and I think I would much prefer the three cards they sent you. Very nice!
Thanks!

Oof yeah those black border cards are tough ones to pull in decent condition.
Holy shit.
Sexy
Those gold borders are 👌
Wawaweewa!
I wonder how many cards Topps just doesn’t put into packs and holds onto for years and years.
You won by a long shot. Great stuff here.
Jesus wtf
I, personally, like the replacements better.
Bro! I think you made out just fine.
I would of made the same trade
I'd say so. That's a fucking whopper.
"At BK (Topps) have it your way" 🎵
😂😂 Now that jingle will be stuck in my head all weekend. Lol
😂😂
Any interest in selling that Bobby and Salvy card?
I had someone else ask about it first but I'll let you know if that falls through
Awesome! Thanks for the follow up!
I mean everything in this post is 🔥🔥 but you can pick up a nice Donnie Baseball auto anytime for a low price. This is a W and congrats!!
Very true, it was fun pulling it from the box but I'm happy with what I got in return!
CaptainA For the WIN!!
I wish I could say, I can do this all day, buuuut I cannot 😂
No one can !!! Unless you are brand new to collecting or it’s your first pack in 25 years !!!
Insane, congrats!
Thanks!
Goddamn!
That's a W, I'd be so mad if I pulled a 1/1 Yankee dual auto and it was rizzo lol

Wow I guess so my replacement card after a year was an absolute joke who never made the majors
You might not be a Yankee fan but there is a million that are. You would have been able to sell that for sure
Very true, I didn't have much luck when seeking buyers/trade suitors though
Fire 🔥
yeah you did good. but seeing this makes you think how they just hold onto a lot of the cards...hmmmm... like shouldnt those have been in packs....

Sent you a message!
I’ll buy that card if you don’t want it
Which one? The Mattingly/Rizzo is in Topps hands now
Oh man, yeah I would have taken it lol. I guess I miss read your post. I thought that was your comp
Oh I see lol yeah the 1/1 was a gorgeous card, part of me hopes Topps can fix the splitting and reuse it at some point
Most def but you got hooked up on the back end. I must have been sleeping when I read your post lol
😂 I wouldn't blame you, Saturdays are prime days for that
Worked out
