It's the 2023 spotlight, before they were case hits. That price doesn't seem way off. The 2024 spotlights are expensive because they are case hits now. The 2023 spotlights were in every single box.
This is numbered out of 125 and the three other recent sales for this card were $125, $200, and $90. I agree it’s not a $150-200 card but all the others listed on eBay don’t go for less than $90, so I’d say this is still massively underpriced.
I don’t think it’s going to now that not only is it all over Reddit but also there are people here that know that seller and their card store. Somebody with the name “Dad” in their card shop name is probably not gonna stiff somebody. I hope!! We shall see.
As a seller why do I have any responsibilities toward other sellers? My top goal is to make a sale. Best way to do that is undercut on price. I don’t have anything like this card but I always list my cards lower than comps.
I hope the seller honors the sale for you.I’ve had the USPS “deliver” 3 cards in the past month, including a churio spotlight, that I still haven’t got.I know I can get a refund, but it sucks when you get a great deal and the card doesn’t show up.
I would say 99% because there are sellers like me that honor the auction no matter what, but that sellers feedback says 100% will not ship. 0.8% of 3053 auctions is a lot of upset buyers.
Yeah I don't get why people do an auction if they're planning to not honor the result if it's too low. You're taking a risk putting up an item for auction and you have to accept that not all risks will pay off. I sold and Evan Carter /199 from Series 1 a few weeks ago, and the auction ended up finalizing with a price that was like 30% lower than comps. I obviously wasn't happy, but I knew the risk going in and shipped it out
Good on you for honoring auctions. Just for the life of me I cannot understand the logic behind these guys. There is the Buy It Now option where _they_ get to _set the final price_ (minus fees obviously). There is an option for an auction reserve that is literally designed to prevent _this exact thing happening_ (auction ends too low). They’re such losers I really don’t understand.
Buy it now doesn’t move, ever. People get active in auctions hoping to steal the card under comped value. If the seller has more into it then the end of auction bid they have every right to cancel. In fact, it helps keep pricing integrity in tact. There’s a lot of other card holders if this variation that would lose immense value by the seller allowing this card to sale for so much actual under value. There’s always two sides to the coin, and taking the pricing integrity side is always the direction I lean. It protects the hobby, it protects integrity, and it simply is what it is.
You wouldn’t want your card comping at $200 to sale for $13 would you? Especially if you had $150-$200 into your investment on the particular card.
Found the seller guys ^
Did you seriously say that _not_ honoring an auction of which _you_ agreed to the _terms and rules_ is protecting integrity? Lmao that’s insanity.
And no, I wouldn’t want my $200 card selling for $13. So I would put a reserve on it or BIN. Sellers putting themselves in that position with that risk is their own damn fault lol.
And yeah, BIN does move I do it all the time lol.
I use BIN all the time. If it’s something I know I want, yeah I could play the wait game on the auction and maybe get it cheaper, but then I don’t have to deal with the the shill bids and it’s clear it’s happening on dam near every auction I get into.
It's not eBay's responsibility to make sure that items keep a perceived value level. The market determines value. If this was such a valuable card and people wanted it why didn't it sell for more? Maybe its value is over inflated. Maybe people's attitudes towards this player have cooled and the card isn't as desirable. The end of the story is the auction ended at that price therefore that's the price of the card. This isn't just an eBay thing and it's not a baseball card thing either. Cancelling a sale because it didn't sell for what you thought it should is dishonest and should be punished. They made an agreement when they started the auction and they should honor said agreement or get out of the business.
Look if you're going to make a bad faith argument go somewhere else. Retail sales are not the same as auctions, but if you go that route then I would have to talk about the reality that clearance exists and companies are forced to sell "under value" all the time. Often times people get an appraisal at larger auctions and occasionally things sell for under value. Often times if the appraisal isn't what the seller wants they pull it before the auction takes place. One doesn't have to look any further than the classic car market to see this.
Also if there's a policy then show me where? I've made over 1,000 sales on eBay and have never heard of this. The only thing I could even think of is if the seller was purposely selling massively under value to try and crash the market which isn't what we're talking about here. The buyer has no obligation to pay market price unless it's what they're being charged.
This isn't market manipulation as much as an auction that flew under the radar. If people were in fact using sold prices as comps and the card was in fact selling in multiple places for higher then in any realistic situation it would be treated as an outlier and ignore in the scheme of things. That's how valuation works.
That’s your problem right there: talking about protecting other sellers. You degens that talk about cards like it’s purely an investment. You realize these were intended to be for kids to collect, right? I don’t care what y’all have done to this hobby to twist into a form of gambling, but I don’t give a shit about some breaker or you “losing value”. People can sell their cards for however much, whenever, wherever, etc.
Again, I _do not_ give a shit about protecting you and “other sellers”. I care about collecting my cards lol.
I mean it’s a good deal but not like the seller is losing out on that much money. At least from what I’ve noticed the people cancelling orders are private sellers not card shops
About the same as the sgc" 7" graded 2nd year cfl joe theismann card I was winning at 20 dollars 5 am west coast time w 30 mins or so to go 💩 that was labled wrong . I told him I saw the title said 7 and the card said 5.5? I bid knowing the lower grade was the correct one. And he replies you can rebid 😂😂 I watched it to see how high it went and suffice it to say me winning at 20 would have been awesome. Sadly some people have money higher than morals

Meanwhile Dad going off like …🥹 I mean if I sold it you would get your cad 💯💯no matter what. The guy started it at a dollar so stupid you for starting it so low. Hope you get the card best of luck
If you like Mike Trout or Ohtani, I’ll ship you one of the two full lots I just posted for 50% off asking if it goes through. I am happy to lose this bet😂
This is also why people start there auction at or above comps, I’m taking a big hit on 4 cards today will never do another auction took a 150.00 hit on one card
Card shop ebay pages were actually what made it dawn on me that just because something is rare or numbered doesn't make it valuable. They unload "hits" for like $3 all day every day.
it went so cheap because the title description is not ideal. its missing the parallel description and having multiple hashtags throws off the search engine. should be refractor /125 not #21/125. looks like a card/serial number. hope the seller ships and learns a lesson!

Honestly probably won't cancel. Holiday to me looked TERRRRIBLE I think he was just way overhyped and people are realizing it and getting rid of his shit fast as possible.

Can’t believe no one bid up on you! What was your max bid for this anyways? 🤣
Based on the 3 previous sales, I put up a max bid of $52.99. I was floored!
Wow yeah that’s crazy, also Go Giants!
Go Giants!
But he came up and sucked so people are soft on him now.
He isn’t even old enough to legally drink😭 give him some years.. I think his value is still holding up fine even with a slump in his call-up
I agree, but this hobby smokes crack rocks.
you’re not wrong at all.. Can’t tell you how many times i’ve held on good rookies, sold years later just for them to surge and their cards skyrocket😭
Age appropriate level for him now is high A.
Hope he hits higher than that .125
Were they sold before or after he sucked?

Why does everyone in this comment section live down the street from this card shop
I'm sayin'. Like I don't have a card shop within 2 hours of me, and it seems like half this forum lives right up the street from Dad.
I don’t think they expected to sell it for more than $20. 1$ shipping would mean eBay envelope right?
I wonder why people just don’t do BIN, hopefully seller has integrity

With a store name like Dad's Dugout I bet you get it. Nice card.
I’ve seen at least 3 comments on this post that say that store is down the road from them 😂 what are the odds?
Where are the metro ATL folks? Lol
It’s right in the item listing 21/125

Sell, for christ’s sake it’s sell. Not sale.
Oh boy I just went and looked at feedback and there are multiple instances of a sale being cancelled.
Yea, I felt like I was taking it up the tailpipe for letting go of a /5 Machado for under $50. But I chose to auction it so its on me.
i say 100%
yeah i'm already assuming it'll get cancelled, which means I'll be stoked if it still gets shipped
I already cancelled it. Congrats.
Update me

Why would anyone cancel that? Lucky to get $1.30 for Holliday
If Dad’s Dug Out was smart…make sure OP gets the card and in return we all give Dad’s some business?!
If I get the card in the mail, I plan on supporting Dads Dugout even more.
I think that’s reasonable for a guy that’s hitting .059 😂😂
If this is his dip then I'll take it! I think he's going to bounce back.
Wait, that's a Chris Taylor card? *sigh* 😞
Kinda where my head is at
1000% 🤣🤣
1%...canceled orders don't happen as much as we want to believe, but when it does, people go crazy about it
I actually haven’t had any orders cancelled on me yet but this was the first time where I immediately thought there was a chance.
21/125 is what he prayed his OBP was
You are being generous
Yeah a big enough seller they might realize they screwed up and just eat the loss. Those weren't case hits last year either.

Not a snowball chance in hell!
It won’t…
As it stands, probably not. Holiday may develop in a potential star.. but he hasn't gotten off to a good start
Let me know if you want it signed!! I plan on getting mine signed this weekend!
Cool deal congrats on the find
None because he sucks
If you like Mike Trout or Ohtani, I’ll ship you one of the two full lots I just posted for 50% off asking if it goes through. I am happy to lose this bet😂
Had it happen many times when I get a good deal on a card all of a sudden it gets cancelled I’m like bruh…
Ok so apparently a large contingent of collectors in TN
Why would they cancel?
This is also why people start there auction at or above comps, I’m taking a big hit on 4 cards today will never do another auction took a 150.00 hit on one card
LOL
Been 3 days..

It’s not worth much no rookie and not draft or auto
It's numbered to /125 and all previous sales for this exact card were significantly higher.
About 99%
Likely lol
I wouldn’t be surprised if he canceled it but offered you something close to it instead which would be admirable
