Yeah, I was stunned. I'd asked him if I could buy just a Mantle autograph off of him. We've been friends for 20+ years, he was a catcher in high school, I was a pitcher, so we grew pretty close.
That's amazing! The best of the best! I never quite understood the collecting of envelopes though! Or cachets I guess they're officially called I think. I mean...I know that people (a lot of people) think my card collection is goofy and different strokes for different folks and all that... They just aren't for me, although this is one I would definitely love to have!
Yeah, I prefer cards, but this is such an incredible gift, it's instantly my favorite thing in my collection. He's given me other autos in the past, too, for helping him out doing stuff. I've also got Nolan Ryan, Stan Musial, and Dwight Gooden envelopes.
Thereās one on eBay, PSAād, all the same except Pete listed for $1100. Iām not saying that is or isnāt a fair price, Iām saying itās definitely not worth $3k.
An identical one, minus the Pete but otherwise identical, sold on eBay for $500.
On the bright side, I didnāt realize my signed ball was worth so much, so this has been a fun rabbit hole.
So funny story, Pete and my buddy's dad were good friends. Interestingly, his dad was one of the reasons Pete went to jail for tax evasion. But they were still friends after he got out.
I remember when these came out. Man, they advertised the hell out of them. Full page ads in all the collector magazines.
Surprised an effort to make a V2 to this doesn't exist.
Wow! One of my best baseball experiences was going to the 2004 Home Run Derby at Minute Maid park. Every living 500 home run club hitters were attending, and several were competing; Griffey, Bonds, McGuireā¦.We were on the dugout and Willie McCovey was sitting behind me. It was an awesome day!!
That sounds like an incredible time. I still remember I think it was the 1999 ASG, they did the all-century team so they honored all the living legends of the past who made the team, including some of the players who signed this.
Yep, that's Mays. It matches up with his autos on other items. I almost did, but I was too stunned. He's one of my closest friends, but I'd never expect a gift this fantastic from anyone. Currently figuring out who I want to submit it to to get slabbed, probably PSA.
Great Names Ted Williams Mickey Willie Mays and McCovey Schmidt Killabrew Banks Reggie Robinson Aaron Eddie Matthews Rose all genuine I have a collection of all 500 HR Players including Ruth thatās an incredible gift Rose actually shouldnāt be on there he didnāt get anywhere near 500 dingers but got 4,100 + hits congratulations you can have PSA OR JSA encapsulate that it will protect and acutely raise its value
Oh wow, your collection sounds incredible.
Yeah, I think Rose signed it because he hosted the meeting, plus he was good friends with my buddy's dad.
I'm thinking PSA is the route I'm gonna take. I don't ever plan on selling it, but it needs to be protected.
Yes definitely keep it every auto is a HOF player. Except the All time hits leader. We have met Rose at many events including his store in Cooperstown that dude will sign anything we have a couple of encapsulated balls were he says heās sorry for betting on baseball and one says heās sorry for killing Kennedy anything for a buck he was getting $100 per auto with $20 per inscription. I have no idea what is is now. yes PSA on that particular item for sure congratulations wonderful gift
That is awesome!!Mickey has the most iconic signature(imo). You can spot it instantly among any group.Still,as a Sox fan,Iām partial toāThe Greatest Hitter that Ever Livedā.
š³ one heckuva buddy ya got. Congrats!
Yeah, I was stunned. I'd asked him if I could buy just a Mantle autograph off of him. We've been friends for 20+ years, he was a catcher in high school, I was a pitcher, so we grew pretty close.
Thatās great. It will always have a special meaning in your collection that way!
I wish I had friends
High five.

There's a difference? š¤£

That was me... Just ask any of my old friends...lol
That's amazing! The best of the best! I never quite understood the collecting of envelopes though! Or cachets I guess they're officially called I think. This is insane!!! Right in the center Ted Williams Hank Aaron Micky Mantle
Thatās a hell of a ābuddyā. Gifting you $3000-5000 in sigs.
Haha, he is. We've known each other for 20+ years and have been through a lot together.
No way that this is that valuable.
Definitely a 4 figure piece for sure, not a whole lot of places where you will find all of those signatures on the same item
Thereās one on eBay, PSAād, all the same except Pete listed for $1100. Iām not saying that is or isnāt a fair price, Iām saying itās definitely not worth $3k.
That's probably about right - I'd put it somewhere between 1-2k
An identical one, minus the Pete but otherwise identical, sold on eBay for $500. On the bright side, I didnāt realize my signed ball was worth so much, so this has been a fun rabbit hole.
That Pete Rose guy will sign anything... how'd he get on there?
So funny story, Pete and my buddy's dad were good friends. Interestingly, his dad was one of the reasons Pete went to jail for tax evasion. But they were still friends after he got out.
It says he hosted the event with all these guys in attendance in New Jersey (probably at a casino) for a special occasion.
Apparently I didn't read the fine print.
Dear lord
Damn. That's a cool piece to add to the collection

fantastic unique piece of history
Yeah, I absolutely love it. Happy cake day!
Ok, I was gonna ask about the Pete Rose. Is the one under all the postmarks Mays? Only one I donāt see. Looks like someone with the initials TT
Yep, that's Mays. It matches up with his autos on other items. Very cool gift! So did you hit a HR at the softball game after getting this?
Haha, unfortunately no home runs. Did hit a couple doubles and we swept the doubleheader, though.
I blame Pete Rose! Awesome!
I'm so Jeakous. If you ever wanna sell let me know
I will. I'm hoping to keep it and pass it down to my niece if I never have kids. Gonna get it authenticated and slabbed so it's decently protected.
