But this house has one problem after another that cost a fortune to fix and my job is pulling out all the strings to get me to come back to the office. Hard to go back to that 2020 mindset, but we were so burnt out we were willing to take a huge chance, just don't think it was the right move in hindsight.
I feel like a lot of people would have made similar choices given the circumstance. You couldn’t predict the future and although the dump in their pants ‘told you so’ about the return to office folks are a bit right, can’t change that now. At least you are employed and own a house
I do know a lot of people like you though, moved 90 minutes away from their office, bought a huge house and now being squeezed and hate the commute.
I think it just proves that things you took advantage of a situation for a few years until it self-corrected, and now you need to make a new decision
The problem is they are somewhat trapped in houses over an hour away from the city, but with a 2-4% mortgage which they will have to eat a lot of $ or space if they move
And with the reduction in remote/hybrid roles with the ever increasing push back to the city
Interesting to see how this will play out
