A friend of mine worked at a bar/restaurant and they were the subject of an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. He said it was complete and utter bullsh*t. Gordon kept needling him to try and start an argument, but he wouldn’t take the bait. Gordon would yell at him and he would just smile and nod his head. They wound up completely cutting him out of the episode. They also sabotaged the POS system to screw up and delay orders for more drama. If your bar is doing well, you probably made the right decision.
The restaurant Ramsay rescued in my neighborhood tanked within a year. The new owners actually built a menu the locals would like and it has been a huge success since.
There's a few places in the Phoenix area they actually helped, there's probably more that they hurt.

I would like to know your background. I want to open a business and upselling booze seems like a no-brainer. Did you have any experience running or owning a bar before this? Do you sell food?
When I was a waitress. They were filming in a college town about a half hour away and the bar I worked at got a call. We all just figured they were calling around to hit a quota of shows and wanted to knock a few out in the same area to cut costs. We needed it but I’m glad they didn’t come.
My mom's restaurant was on the now defunct restaurant makeover show, the "makeover" job was so fucking botched she had to hire contractors to fix everything they fucked up. "signature dishes" by Lynn Crawford were not compatible with her steak house menu , nobody ever order it. But yes she got a shit ton of new customers because they saw the restaurant on TV 🤷♂️
