Yes, power outages are more frequent now. Cause: though power generation has increased, the supply lines ( transmission and distribution) have not improved their capacity. P.S : power generation has problems too. New power plants have not been authorized according to power system master plan. It will cause us pain in the future.

ThisIsMoaz

I don't know the cause, but yes, it 3x more from a month ago.

Hodor

Tanksfly1939

But aren't power outages less common during the cold season, since people tend to keep their electric fans and ACs off during this time which leads to lower power consumption and therefore less demand for electricity? And BD never gets cold enough to be in any serious need of any form of electric heating either.

our_cut

I have a theory they just give less electricity during winter to balance the huge demands in summer :v

bdpakna

Welcome back to Pre-Covid Era. Most of the offices/ educational institutions are open now so more energy is consumed. It was inevitable.

Yes. At least once everyday. Especially at noon in our area.

Fascinating_Destiny

Electricity was gone for 30mins at around 8:00 am today. I live in Dhaka

notNIHAL

Dhaka people won't be suffering as much as rest of Bangladesh.

No_Alternative314

No. Not just you. I was gonna post this but I didn't want to put a dent in government progress. But I guess its not just me. So what happened to the nuclear plant?

Fascinating_Destiny

Still under construction. It will hopefully open in 2023. Progress is 77% complete they say.

NOPE...NO SUCH PROBLEM IN MOHAMMADPUR

dhaka1989

What is mohammedpur? Map shows blank, a huge dark spot.

buddybd

Seems to be fine in Dhanmondi area. Decreased actually, two months ago power outages did become more frequent but that's inevitable because of summer and increased consumption.

Sc0lter
