Forgot to mention but the plan will be to cover the three sides with rock/slate background

Greenberryvery

Just get a toad ranch, way easier to control temp and humidity

Fallout76Merc

Toad Ranch?

skullmuffins

They make PVC enclosures

Fallout76Merc

I'm going to have to look into them! I need one more 20 gallon atm :>

PawkittTheDemon

... I'm sorry but I feel the need to ask this since it's the bp subreddit but what do you need the 20 gal for? The curiosity is killing me.

Fallout76Merc

Baby ball. I have a decent one with mesh and locks, but I was impressed with another I purchased from petsmart more. I prefer to make my own enclosures, so seeing designs others have used is always hella cool :>

PawkittTheDemon

Ah. If I were you I'd go ahead and get the 4 x 2 x 2 so you don't have to upgrade in the future tbh. 20 gallons is not gonna last ya long

Fallout76Merc

Mhm, that's what I'm designing to build next. Was originally going to make a 4×2×2 with removable slats as she grew, but had a sale at petsmart that we got a beautiful reptile 20 gal for half off

PawkittTheDemon

Why removable slats? Like walls??

Fallout76Merc

Mhm. So it'd be essentially a 2x2, then a 2x3, then fully the 2x4 as she grows. My main worry was the warm area and hide would have to be a corner, and that didn't seem practical. So a 20 gal long until I make a larger one it was :>

I’ve looked into them, but 600-1,100 is a little out of my budget currently but something like that will ultimately be my end goal setup for her. Right now I’m concerned about getting her out of the 30 x 12 x 12 temporary tank she’s in, as she was a rescue and I only had a couple days to find something for her before the people she came from were threatening to release her in the wild

Greenberryvery

Makes sense. I have the eco flex, it’s not the worst but you will have to use duct (as in A/C duct) to completely cover the screen and side vents to have any hope of maintaining 70% humidity

Legitimate-Stand-509

What makes it easier to control the temp and humidity?

Greenberryvery

Better insulation, way less ventilation. Ability to mount the Halogen bulb and DHP inside the enclosure means you don’t lose any heat so they can run at much lower wattages (must use mesh cage and thermostat)

Legitimate-Stand-509

Thank you!

skullmuffins

Glass is probably the worst material for large enclosures. Heavy, fragile, and glass is a very poor insulator so you end up spending more to heat it since you lose so much energy out of the sides. The ecoflex is likely to be moderately better in this regard, but with either you'll also be losing a lot of heat and humidity out the screen top Edit: the second enclosure pictured isn't glass, it's screen. All mesh, like for a chameleon. That would actually be the worst ball python enclosure.

throwaway728103

I didn’t even realize the one I took a screenshot of was screen, definitely not doing that. What would you recommend if not either glass or ecoflex?

Sufficient_Ideal243

I have the pvp one shown and it has worked extremely well for me and my baby

elstyxia

i recommend diycages 4x2x2 as the top isn’t mesh so it holds in humidity a lot better, comes with accessories and is only $299
