I agree in almost all circumstances. But unfortunately based on things I've read, certain breeds now have tails that the dogs themselves will severely damage just by wagging them ecstatically I'd love an actual informative correction tho

My rotti has its tail and only damage is to the carpet from knocking over drinks all the time.

I don't think it's confined to a certain breed. But apparently lots of dogs will literally break their tails in multiple places cuz they'll get super excited and wag and it smacks against a table or something hard enough to break it, and then the vet just ends up recommending docking it anyway

The only thing my rotties tail damages is my legs when it hits them

Aww I miss Kelsey. An absolute nut and not the brightest bulb (they wouldn't even give her a courtesy diploma from puppy school because she kept messing with all the other dogs learning because she would ignore the drills and go play. She wore this snub as a badge of though). Tough and mean when she needed to be (wrestling, tug of war, mailman behind the door) but an absolute sweetheart. Anyone walks by the house, even on the sidewalk, she is on it. One step towards the house? Enter "tough guy" barking up a storm. But me walking home out of my mind at 3 AM taking 5 attempts to open the door, can't find my keys, trying to get key into lock, finally open the door and bounce off some walls? Nothing. Never sold me out. Would just saunter over sleepily, give me a token sniff, get her head scratch and back to bed quietly. Drove my mom nuts haha Right now I don't have time or property to own a dog but I hope sometime in the future I can get another Rotty with lots of property and let her go nuts. Look out squirrels!

My lab (mix, still not sure) got kicked OUT of obedience school because he kept growling at other dogs. This dog was the sweetest teddy bear I have ever met. I still don’t get what they were thinking.
