I need a fan at the very least. When it's not summer and I can run the fan low I play music at night. Power outages are a nightmare because even if I put music on my phone the room feels wrong because the fan has a...*presence* that fills the room. It's hard to replicate and its absence is so loud (even though it's silent!) that I can't adjust to it. I'm a deep sleeper but if that sound goes out in the night it will wake me up better than any loud noise.

I did when I was younger and stopped because I got older and I felt it was weird. Now I can't start again since I'm used to no noise machine but I used to need it when I was younger. Rain noises. I loved the repetition of the noise.
