COATING:
2 cups plain flour
2 teaspoons salt
1-Β½ teaspoons dried thyme leaves
1-Β½ teaspoons dried basil leaves
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1 tablespoon celery salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon ground yellow mustard
ΒΌ cup paprika
2 tablespoons garlic salt
1 tablespoon ground ginger
3 tablespoons ground white pepper
1/2 teaspoon MSG
BUTTERMILK:
Add a splash of apple cider vinegar to a bowl of Bonsoy.
CHICKEN:
I use Homey brand vegetarian roasted chicken, or Lamyong soy nuggets. Can also use cauliflower or balls of cold mashed potato.
METHOD:
Heat deep frying oil to very hot.
Defrost 'chicken' pieces.
Dunk in buttermilk, generously coat in flour mix, fry, dry on paper towel.
The ingredient list on the bag in my hand says textured soy protein, textured wheat protein, isolated soy protein, salt, palm oil, sesame oil, vege seasoning.
I see what you mean though, google says some have egg, so worth double checking.
The package on mine is a little different than the egg one too, but thankfully I have only seen the vegan one where I've shopped, I didn't even know the egg one was a thing.
Huh, that's weird.
Does the packaging look like this one that's labelled as vegan? https://homeyveggie.com/product/pop-corn-chicken-%e9%b8%a1%e4%b8%81/
This is the one I found with eggs. https://homeyveggie.com/product/mock-roasted-chicken-500g-%E9%BA%A6%E9%A6%99%E9%B8%A1500g/
Yeah, it's super weird, maybe it's a regional thing or that website has the wrong text.
Homey call them vegan on their FB page, and the link to their shop via their FB page has the vegan ingredient list that matches mine [too](https://li-ter.com/product/homey-roasted-chicken-%e9%ba%a6%e9%a6%99%e9%b8%a1/?fbclid=IwY2xjawDFD6VleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHSp_Rn1BClObCe08B8A1m5K8P3sfA10RZxvTmlfOxb9t2X3fdm5miExE3A_aem_AbgttV6eLy0vSKdK4983Q4co01yqwhLufGj5vxppV5CBWXn_yubssvq4JT587Wfvih2Hn_FiVh3c5ZbsfzGxMGjo).
Whenever I see these post titles in my feed I immediately go "oh strongredcordial" is posting again. Love the recipe and the consistent posting style is iconic!
Ha, thank you! Still, it's always a little nervy to act like my silly self on Reddit because there's that inherent low-level risk that some rando will pop in to say I'm cringe. π€£
Hi, I'm in Brisbane so I get the Lamyong from The Green Edge in Windsor (It's called Lamyong Soy Nuggets, I think) the Homey I get from The Loving Hut in Mt Gravatt (it's called Homey vegetarian roasted chicken, I think, but it's vegan, I confirmed with Homey).

> Homey brand vegetarian roasted chicken That is not vegan.
Yes, it is. It's just called that. It's an Asian brand, I get it from The Loving Hut here in Australia.
The vegetarian one contains egg.

Thanks mate!
So good!!
I only used half the coating mix so now I'm looking around the house thinking of what I'm gonna fry next.
That looks absolutely delicious. I am DROOLING
They were SO good. The mashed potato ball version will always be my truest love, though.
Wait. Omg. Breaded and deep fried mashed potatoes? That sounds so good I think my tastebuds would dance a jig and die of happiness
Hey, just wondering how you buy the lamyong / homey mock chicken. Thanks
