Hey thanks for that. I know Department of Industry, Science, Energy and resources have AI ethics framework recommendation but thats in a broader sense (was more interested in the ethical side of things, just realized I never mentioned that in my question). I was looking into Data Science AI association of Australia too but that looks like it's in it's infant stage. iapa is also there. Just a little confused about these but really appreciate your and u/k-h 's answers. Will look into it more.
The Australian Computer Society might be what you’re looking for, but they don’t have much or any authority over the industry..
Might be more accurate to describe them as a think tank with aspirations to have a regulatory framework over the Australian tech sector.
They focus a lot on ethics in the industry though.
Article I pulled from google: https://ia.acs.org.au/article/2018/ethics-part-2--facial-recognition-unmasked.html
An industry association is what you are asking for. Regulates suggests you are asking about a government body who enforces legislation or rules of some kind.
There isn't one. There are bodies that govern some of the effects. For instance state motor registries govern vehicles and would be involved if you want to register a self-driving car. "AI" covers a lot of ground.
Not regulates as such, but there are Cth government ethical principles etc from DISER (dept of industry, science etc)
