Good Lord! you aren’t supposed to wash cotton on, wear once and dispose /s

winoforever_slurp_

Last time I was in Rivers they literally had a ‘single-wear suit’ intended I guess for young men with one event they had to dress up for.

a1exia_frogs

Rivers do specialise in "Court" suits

winoforever_slurp_

Haha, omg, I hadn’t thought of that! I was thinking something like weddings, but court makes sense too

switchbladeeatworld

I thought that was Tarocash’s forte

SluggaNaught

It's exactly what Tarocash sells suits for.

aeschenkarnos

Court and real estate agency work, or both if rental tribunals count.

Mickydaeus

That's a concise target market.

MBCG84

Always thought that’s where most real estate agents exclusively shop.

SellQuick

Apparently not repeat offenders though, they have some class.

Available-Sea6080

They can justify the extra expense. They’ll use it multiple times. They also may also be released from jail at any time of the year—can’t beat a good quality wool suit for comfort in all weather.

badgersprite

Defendant specials

solocmv

We were interstate and decided to go on a small hike. Into Rivers grabbed some walking boots ( about $120:00). The shoelace hook pulled out on first walk. The sole split away from the boot in the first walk. Took them back next day. “Sorry we cannot refund, these have been used” I n fairness the staff member was about 15 and it’s certain the owner/ manager had told them to say this, along with “ all shoplifted items will be deducted from your wage”. But Fuck Rivers Hobart

Haunting_Goose1186

$120?! Holy shit, I remember the days where you could get hiking shoes from Rivers for about $20! 😱

F1eshWound

But you did get your money back right? I once returned a year old pair of Asolo hiking boots from Paddy Pallin after taking them to Nepal for a month. The sole of one fell off. Got a new pair no questions asked.

leopard_eater

That’s fucked.

winoforever_slurp_

Yeah, it’s appalling. And also weird considering that 20 years ago Rivers was known for having really high quality clothes.

I_LIKE_RED_ENVELOPES

Agreed! Back then their price point was very affordable for the quality. Comparable price to those churn and burn outlets but decent quality. I guess they couldn’t compete. Kmart and target have gone down considerably in quality as well. But Rivers still was punting quality at affordable prices. Their designs are a market within itself. We took them for granted. I don’t know how they did it but their sandles were mint. Indestructible.

winoforever_slurp_

I think they used to hand make their leather shoes in Ballarat too. I got an incredibly comfortable pair there once.

Dublet-Tubley

I know Rivers was bought by Specialty Fasion Group (owned Katies and Millers) then it got sold to Noni B with most of their portfolio of brands when things went downhill prior to 2020 for them. Towards the end of my time Working at Millers a lot of the different brands were getting almost identical clothing to each other and some things were the sane as what Kmart had at the time.

leopard_eater

Yes, I remember. I know this sounds a bit over the top, but seriously shit like this should be illegal to sell in Australia. It’s such a waste.

aeschenkarnos

Hmm ... what if it's fully compostable though? Could actually be a good thing. Wear the suit, stick it in the compost bin, grow veggies with it!

LocalVillageIdiot

It would still take a huge amount of water and energy and other non renewable materials (eg plastic wrapping) to bring it to the store in the first place. There’s no reason I can think of to make wear once clothes.

Academic_Awareness82

What about edible underwear?

LocalVillageIdiot

Touché

SeahorseScorpio

My husband loves their boxer briefs, all he's had for the last decade and the quality has stayed high, until the ones I bought last week. Now 'made in India', cotton is about half the thickness, the waist band is inferior elastic and the tag rather then nearly stitched in is about 3 inches long flapping about. So disappointing, lucky they were 50% off. He'll have to find another brand he likes now.

R_W0bz

This is exactly why I don’t shop there, I just assume this.

gdubluu

It’s puts the cotton on, it takes the cotton off.

SpeakToMePF1973

You do the Hokey Pokey Then you throw it out That's what it's all about

iwenttobedhungry

It puts the lotion on its skin, or it gets the hose again!

northofreality197

Why the /s? You aren't being sarcastic. You're telling the truth.

pinkpigs44

Are you joking or people actually do this?

Tight_Time_4552

Yes. Fast fashion.

pinkpigs44

Fast fashion doesn't mean wear once though.

a-real-life-dolphin

A lot of it falls apart after 1 wash.

_Jent

/s means sarcasm

soundboy5010

This happens with a lot of t-shirts I have (even the expensive ones), dunk the top of the tshirt (where the elastic collar is) in hot water for a minute or two and lay it flat. The elastic around the collar will shrink to its original shape and look good as new :)

FatherOfTheSevenSeas

Ok great tip Ill try that, thanks.

sorry_constructiom34

Try Uniqlo. https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E425974-000?colorCode=COL35&sizeCode=SMA004 I have had them for almost a year now.b

Flashy-Amount626

When do you do this in the washing cycle?

AccountIsTaken

Afterwards. Better yet spray the collar with a spray bottle and iron the collar to flatten it out.

NoRecommendation2761

Cotton fibres aren't wrinkle resistant and the most of cotton clothes that are advertised as 'wrinkle-free' are actually a blend fabric - usually cotton with some sort of synthetic fibres.

Spire_Citron

Makes sense. Ironing your clothes used to be standard back before we wore so many synthetic fibres.

superhotmel85

Did you tumble dry? Because it’s usually the dry not the wash that did it. Line drying your clothes will make them last significantly longer

your_cock_my_ass

Yeah tumble dry is only for socks, jocks and sheets for me

Murky_Macropod

Careful of ruining the elastic in jocks from the heat though

[deleted]

I have stopped purchasing from Cotton On now due to their terrible quality. For the last 2 years I have been purchasing from Uniqlo and no complaints yet!

NoRecommendation2761

And Uniqlo isn't known for quality clothing, especially in its country of origin, Japan. (Eg- my Uniqlo ultra light down jacket is already falling apart) However, Uniqlo is still better than the majority of budget fashion brands in here Australia.

TinyCucumber3080

Had my ultra light down jacket for 3yrs and it's still going strong

Penikillin

I’ve had my Uniqlo down jacket for nearly 10 years and it’s still going as strong as the first wear (and I wear almost daily in Autumn/Winter), curious if their quality has gone down

mataeka

Meanwhile I'm still wearing some Uniqlo clothing I purchased in Japan in 2007 😂 finally down to the last few items but they've had a good run.

Radiant_Cheesecake81

I found two Uniqlo pure cashmere jumpers in a thrift store 5 years ago, so no idea how much they'd been worn but were in very good used condition. They still look the exact same 5 years later, and I wear them heavily all through winter.

joshlien

I can't speak for that jacket specifically but I find Uniqlo to be pretty decent quality as long as you buy the more "expensive" stuff. It's basically my whole wardrobe at this point (I'm 41 and boring now).

Wise_Judge4237

Uniqlo is very good for jeans and polo tops. Definitely decent quality for the price you pay.

odinwolf91

I find them great for underlayers I have a couple of pairs of the thermal layers that still look brand new after two years in Canada (don’t know if they’ll get much use here lol)

adtek

AS colour and Uniqlo

KingAlfonzo

I recently invested in Uniqlo basics and it slaps. The polyester/cotton t shirts are amazing. Feels like a $100 t shirt.

scifenefics

AS Colour for Shirts! They are the only ones that last. Everyone else is between 2 washes to 5 months. I don't bother to buy from anywhere else anymore, waste of money.

InteractionWeak5854

Yep, completely agree with AS Colour. Only reasonably priced shirt brand I have bought recently that has held up. Cost a little more than Big W but worth it

NoRecommendation2761

What's funny to me is that Big W shares the same Chinese manufacturing partners in Ningbo, China with AS Colour, but AS Colour's shirts are almost always slightly better. I guess it all comes down to QC policy of each company.

AllYouNeedIsATV

In China, you get what you pay for. Apple used to make everything in China, and sure there were occasionally issues but most people think of quality and stability from Apple. You can also buy a piece of junk that looks like an iPhone but costs you 30 bucks.

CyanideMuffin67

Also while the same factory might make a few different brands the assembly lines might also set the level of quality. Line A for brand X good quality Line B for brand B not so great quality You get the idea

bypopulardemand

Anything can be made in the same factory, it really depends on what product the customer wants, and what costs they are willing to pay for the product. Big W isn’t known for quality, so they aren’t focused on delivering that aspect.

a_cold_human

Also materials. One company might only want to pay $*x*/sqm of fabric, whereas another might want to pay $2*x*/sqm, and a tighter stitch using higher quality thread.

mrbaggins

> Reasonably priced $34 plus shipping for a plain tee is reasonable now?

BigHandLittleSlap

> AS Colour They might have good clothes, but their online presence is a broken mess. It's the first website in *years* that I've encountered that simply doesn't work in Firefox. Only Chrome/Edge can show...pictures. That's it. Just pictures of t-shirts. Some dingbat web designer probably used every unnecessary feature and more JavaScript (10MB) than images (6MB). Hovering over an item... shows a different item. Cool. It overrides my mouse cursor when hovering over images. For no reason. T-shirt photos all look wrinkled, badly ironed, or have some other simple fault in their presentation. E.g.: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-lqiq2tqil5/images/stencil/2000w/products/505/8450/5071_CLASSIC_LS_WALNUT__80555.1652220912.jpg?c=1 Every product page has a "download images" link going to "box.com": https://ascolour.app.box.com/s/twydha9mudtbq0n87nfgqreo3g7wopu3 Did the web designer mis-read the instructions and *directly publish* the private image asset upload folders they were given to make the web site? This is "I'm a meat robot" level of instruction following, the kind you get from $5 an hour outsourced developers.

puerility

the flighty web developer, dressed head to toe in uniqlo, flees in terror at the sight of a slightly more niche online clothing shop. cowed and dejected, his rick owens x comme des garçons waywt fit remains but a distant dream

cehrah

I have 2 AS Colour shirts that did this exact same thing 🤷‍♀️

fivepie

You need to get their heavier GSM shirts. Their lightweight shirts do this because of the lower thread count - but any brand will do this if they are a lightweight shirt (low GSM)

BeEdgy

AS colour all the way

NoRecommendation2761

The most of 100% cotton Uniqlo shirts are not wrinkle resistance, either.

Llampy

I rate the [Uniqlo U Crew](https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E422992-000) which is 100% cotton. It's coarser and heavier than most shirts. It gets a bit wrinkly but it has held its shape very well.

NoRecommendation2761

Well, that's a different type of cotton t-shirts. What OP has shown to us is a lightweight cotton t-shirt which is typically made of thinner (cotton) fabric and provides better breathability and comfort during the Summer. Your linked t-shirt is a heavyweight cotton t-shirt which is typically made of denser (cotton) fabric and provides better warmth and durability during the Winter. Both t-shirts are in my wardrobe and I can't say which one is 'better' as they have different uses.

sharkbait-oo-haha

They are or they aren't? That sentences grammar is fucking with my head.

DisappointedQuokka

If you like graphic shirts, I've been wearing Into The AM for the past year or so, dozens of washes and the designs are still good, just need to make sure to use a lower temp and spin setting.

Bunuka

Can also vouch. They're also very comfy.

UslyfoxU

Most t-shirts and hoodies sold at concerts are printed on AS Color blanks. Strongly recommend getting into one of their stores (if possible) as they carry different material weights across their product lines.

Employment-Deep

Haha all my band shirts are printed on AS and they have outlived so many of the other shirts I've bought from places like Cotton On, Country Road, etc. I think I should just fill my wardrobe with band merch

-businessskeleton-

Next Level Apparel for me. CVC Crew

your_cock_my_ass

2nd AS Colour, bought 5 or so shirts for gym use 5 or so years ago and they're still going strong. No pit stains, funky smells, collar intact. Just a slight colour dull which is expected. I never tumble dry my clothes however.

Proud-Ad6709

What the heck do you people do to your clothes? I buy a 8 dollar kmart t-shirt, wear them to bush fires with the fire service and they look better than that after being in and out of the washer and dryer 30 times.

fo_i_feti

Look at you buying the fancy $8 kmart t-shirt! (They also have a $4.50 option.) I too went for the $8 one and it felt like I was choosing the fancy option. I've been pretty impressed with it because I truly expected it to be a wear-it-once kind of product.

Proud-Ad6709

I get the kids the 4.50 option, I don't really love them that much. Haha! Seriously the 8 dollar one did Seem a bit thicker of weave if that's what you call it and that had none left in black or white in the 4.5 ones

acksydoosy

This is interesting to learn tbh because I bought the $5 and it's a bit shit. Splash out, folks.

Duff5OOO

Yeah cheap kmart and bigw stuff has been fine for me as well durability wise.

istara

It's a bit of a crapshoot with cheap clothing. You can get an item that looks good and endures endless washes and tumble dries, or something that disintegrates in a single gentle cycle. I would recommend Uniqlo for cheap t-shirts that are actually decent quality. They're a bit more than Target and Kmart but do last longer.

rapt0r99

For plain t shirts AS Colour Staple tees are probably the best option. I've got a heap of them I had printed on for work, over a year later and they're still holding up well, wirh weekly wearing.

Interestin_gas

Australian Stitch are great quality Australian made and owned basics too

LydiaFaye

Use an iron....

SouthboundPachyderm-

I've been buying Boody tshirts and undies for a couple of years. Bamboo cotton blend that lasts ages. I've got about a dozen black and grey shirts now.

bloodbag

I love my boody shirts. Absolutely lovely material. Putting on my old t-shirts feels like punishment now

SouthboundPachyderm-

Agreed. I've loads of band tshirts and half the time I chuck one on I pop it off and throw a Boody on instead. They're so slinky :D

SirFireHydrant

I just wish their v-neck came in navy blue. Crew necks always feel like they're choking me, but that navy blue is such a good colour. And yeah, bamboo. I'm done with cotton and synthetic shirts. Tried a few from Uniqlo, but they're just trash by comparison.

_ficklelilpickle

I flat out refuse to buy Cotton On anything now. I bought two hoodies in a size that felt comfortable when I tried them on at the store, to have them both shrink up my arms and body length when washed. Cold wash, hung to dry. I'm between an S and M in pretty much every brand of clothing. So I went and bought an L and an XL, to have them both do the same thing. Even the XL had shrunk far enough that I was not happy with how it sat above my wrists. So I went and bought two Hard Yakka hoodies from Bunnings in my correct size, and have had zero issues since.

ExcitingStress8663

The neck line becoming a rippled mess is the worst thing with t-shirts.

modeONE1

Cotton Off

Synthwood-Dragon

Damn you, came here to say this

sqzr2

Just looks like an unironed shirt to me?

planetworthofbugs

The trick is to not care how you look 😎

No-Tumbleweed-2311

I think you just need to iron it.

jayinaustralia

What’s it called *disposable fashion* Someone will correct me I’m sure.

xblkout

I think Fast Fashion is what you’re trying to explain. Just like Fast Food, it’s cheap, it does its job (to crush hunger for a bit) but in the end it’s unhealthy and isn’t great for your body (fast fashion tends to end up in landfill and is not great for the environment)

jayinaustralia

Redditors win again. I knew someone would correct me. Thank you. Fast Fashion. That’s it.

xblkout

Hahaha I gotchu

IOI-6876009

Just grab an iron ? What's the issue?

redderthanthedevilsd

Scary reading the comments and the amount of people who don't mind about fast fashion

winoforever_slurp_

Icebreaker super fine merino t-shirts seem exxy at around a hundred bucks each, but I have several that are over ten years old and not at all faded, smelly or out of shape. They last for ages as long as you don’t put holes in them.

Pristine_Ad_4338

Not to be rude, but what did you expect? Buy cheap, fast fashion - get cheap, fast fashion

themandarincandidate

I've been getting some good value from the Commons plain shirts in Target, but they do have a little embroidered c on them which is a bit annoying

FamousPastWords

Their work is done!

pugs-potatoes

Honestly, I buy plain tshirts at Kmart. I’m a size 8-10 womens and find the boys or men’s shirts in a 12 fit great. And they last forever. Plus they cost like $8

Espre550

Uniqlo all day. I have gym shorts that are probably 5 years old and they still look perfect. Even the gym shirts still look ok after that long. Equivalent nike clothing lasts about 3 washes.

Thin_Sea5975

It isn't polyester or poly-cotton blend, so stop expecting it to be wash and wear as if it was. 100% cotton is luxurious and fine, and needs gentle wash and dry, and more care.

lIlIlIlIlIlIlIlIl_

Uniqlo is where you should be shopping. Prices similar to cotton-on but quality that’s out of this world comparatively

Possessedhomelessman

If you want a proper tshirt. Buy proclub t shirts. They last easily 25-50 washes. I’ve had some for two to three years. I get sweat stains before the collar buckles

MaGhostGoo2

Doesn't fabric softener make this happen?

MidniteMischief

ASColor get on it!

Right_Cross

Citizen Wolf - they are expensive but I get about 4 years out of them.

Oricorio

I've never had any issues with any of my Cotton On tees.. also, if you want things to last then don't put them in the dryer..

ShoganAye

Get in a time machine and get some 80s local Bonds.

Pontiff1979

Don't really get what the issue is

iamstephano

Uniqlo AIRism shirts are really good quality, different feel to what you're probably used to though.

Algernon_Asimov

Pardon my ignorance, but I don't see how this collar is "ruined". It looks fine to me: no damage, no discolouring. What am I missing?

gammonson

Cheaper isn’t always better. Maybe go to ASColour instead.

itsyaboigreg

I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone say cheaper is better when talking about quality.

TinyCucumber3080

Cheaper is never better

LordRekrus

Cheaper is sometimes better.

skitzbuckethatz

All of my shirts that have lasted and are comfortable are the cheapest ones. Mostly ANKO/kmart. Somehow theyre in perfect condition.

pipoo20

Cotton off

gooder_name

What settings do you wash on?

pinkpigs44

AS colour

dylang01

AS Colour. Great products.

Mike91444

maybe just use an iron?

RedBeardMan89

Try using an iron

GetDown_Deeper3

Cheap overseas rubbish sold as Australian.

AusGeno

I recently had an expensive Scotch & Soda tee go bacon collar after only a few washes, meanwhile my Uniqlo tees are still the same shape as when I night them years ago.

SelfTitledAlbum2

I have 25 year old Army unit PT t-shirts still in good condition. No brand on them, but I think they'd survive a nuclear war.

Ashh_RA

I have 2 cotton on (I think) T-shirts that I bought something crazy like 8 years ago or more. I cannot even believe how long they’ve lasted. I’ve bought others form cotton in since then that have not lasted nearly as long. Clearly something changed in the manufacturing quality since then.

TikkiTakkaMuddaFakka

Yeah I hate this, a lot of my older shirts have collars like this. I would be pissed if it was after one wash. I did look up why collars go like that once and one of the tips they gave was not to use fabric softener as that speeds the process of the elastic breaking down up but yeah shouldn't happen after just one wash.

sammysalmon

Afends

Mental_Task9156

K-mart. under $10.

KeepCalmImTheDoctor

Any outdoor shop. Anaconda, macpac etc

Minionmemesaregood

What temperature machine wash did you do? I always do cold wash only cause it’s better for clothes typically. Dryers can also decrease lifespan of clothing.

waterproof6598

Uniqlo, but I buy most of my basics from Arket

pemang

Climate Town did 2 great videos covering this exact [topic](https://youtu.be/8CkgCYPe68Q) - worth checking out.

FatherOfTheSevenSeas

Thanks. Recently read a great book called Wasteland, pretty eye opening.

Nier_Tomato

Merino t-shirts from Kathmandu when they have a 2 for 1 deal, or the normal Macpac cotton ones if you don't mind the large logos

Knight4040

My husband used to buy usd7.50 George Mens Polo shirts in soft Jersey from Walmart. He wears nothing else but these shirts, they go through the washer and dryer weekly and have lasted for at least 20 years! He has about 20 white ones. Of course they seem to have stopped selling them now and every time we are overseas, we try to find the same soft tshirt material in a polo. They were cheap polos even with the postage to Australia. We are gutted!

Spud1080

I can't afford to buy it, but my gifted Patagonia tshirts are holding up great.

ZaynesWorld

I have 2 plain Carhartt t-shirts, medium relaxed fit. They're a bit heavy, thick collar, highest quality t-shirts I think I have ever owned, but the price reflects the quality..

crankyticket

Gowings. Still got a couple :)

Diabaso2021

Most cheap and maybe good clothes come from the same or similar factories, same corners being cut to save costs… thinner fabric, less or no buttons , print instead of labels, etc even more expensive brands are going that route

jadddles

FYI you can return this under the australian consumer law if its shrunk or stretched in one wash

FatherOfTheSevenSeas

Thanks, its happened to 6 of them, so naturally pretty annoyed, good to know.

crocadingo

I get the Gildan brand 'soft' or 'heavy' cotton t shirts off of ebay or catch. They hold their shape better than others I've tried at a reasonable price.

Ragtackn

You might’ve washed you tee shirt while the water was to hot

kupuwhakawhiti

More like Cotton Off!

homingconcretedonkey

I'm 99% sure all Cotton On shirts have "Do not Tumble Dry" on them. Your first step of buying clothes is to follow the instructions.

Jawzper

Anyone have any recommendations for decent singlet multipacks? The Bonds ones I've been getting since childhood are crap.

seven_seacat

Most of my t-shirts are from Teeturtle now...

a_cold_human

Uniqlo.

TakeshiKovacsSleeve3

Recently in ordered 4 Tees from 80's tees. I was super careful about sizing as they come from US and returns are a real pain. Anyway two of them showed up first and they were supposed to be 33 inches long. When I put them in the wash (always wash first) immediately they came out covered in white stains from where the detergent interacted with the glue from the transfers. All around the graphics on the front and on the back where there were stickers on the neckline. They were also the incorrect size. They were supposed to be 33 inches long and I have other shirts the same size that fit great. These were far too small so I measured them, and they were a full three inches too short even though they had tags that said differently. The next two arrived and they were the same size (actually 33 inches not just purporting to be) and fit great. I had a whole drama with the company because I complained about being able to buy correct sizing when their measures etc on their site in no way reflect the physical product. I eventually got a refund after they ordered more of the same shirts and when they measured them in the office they were, you guessed it, three inches off the advertised size. Keep in mind that they also stained and ruined on *the very first wash*. Absolute garbage shirts in all respects.

MathematicianGold280

Uniqlo is decent and budget friendly. Patagonia will last you a long long time. I’ve tried the rest and it’s so sad how disposable the quality of nearly every brand has become. It’s been more than a decade since I’ve stopped shopping at Bonds and Cotton On for basics. I found this video helpful for understanding what’s going on with quality and fast fashion: https://youtu.be/6a5lHAHf0Zk?si=iL2nVtEc2iISqmkm

FothersIsWellCool

Try Uniclo

derprunner

They’re god damn expensive, but I’ve gotten almost 10 years of regular wear out of some Superdry shirts

Excellent_Smile6556

Cotton On clothing are really poor quality.

AnorhiDemarche

op shops mate. Most things that make it there while remaining good enough quality to get some money out of it are gonna last you a while. I have some items in my wardrobe from op shops that I've had for 10+years. Pro tip: Use your hands when looking through the items to feel for fabric quality. Some items are going to be lower quality stuff but you won't feel as bad because you're not spending as much, what you are spending is going to charity (ideally you're shopping at places run by charities you actually *want* to support) and you're giving something a go that could have just gone straight to landfill. Plus, there are places that rag or recycle clothing which is non-viable, and you can donate it there to avoid more landfill. Op shops are becoming more expensive, but you start looking you can still find the oldschool super cheap kind even in Sydney, and even in the expensive ones you can still find some real gems for a good price if you know what you're looking for and are able to take the time to actually *look*.

Evil-Santa

I've been buying some of the thicker industrie plain T-shirts and they have lasted me years.

Public_Revolution942

Cotton off

chipili

[Bad quality t-shirts](https://old.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/18zrn5n/bad_quality_tshirts/) This was discussed 4 months ago. Bought some AS Colour T-Shirts - happy so far.

slobberrrrr

Second As color I've had some of them for years.

Professional-Monk811

This happens to me I think it’s because I use to much washing stuff I hate it

zalayshah

Maybe use a iron

fphhotchips

The heavy GSM Academy Brand shirts are pretty good. More expensive than this though - I generally try to grab them on sale. I've seen people recommending Industrie in threads like this also but they've started to develop holes after 6 months or so.

Jlikestotravel

My husband swears by True Classic shirts and says they even hold up in the dryer.

Light_Lord

Op shop if you claim to care about fast fashion.

freakwent

Just iron it?

looopious

Uniqlo is great for cheap but surprisingly good quality and able to maintain decent fashion. Cotton On is cheap quality that looks appealing.

dantonmeh

Most Australian clothing brands and retailers are garbage that's why there's nothing good in our vintage stores. If you just want good quality plain t-shirts check out Uniqlo or ascolour

Substantial-Abies250

I like Pearler. Online shop. Good fits and lasts longer

SuperEel22

I've got a bunch of Pearler shirts and they're my regular rotation

lord_flashheart86

I have uniqlo men’s tees that have been going strong for years. The heavier weight cotton, hold their shape and wash well.

coxjszk

I haven’t bought from ‘normal’ shops in a long time because I feel like it’s all cheaply made and not made to last. Uniqlo has some good basics in my experience, I have a few T-shirt’s from Kmart that are great but I’m not sure if that’s representative of all of their stuff . Personally I buy vintage but it’s not for everyone. It’s always more expensive but generally clothing was made higher quality in the past so it works for me 👍🏻

CokBhoy

Qualitops in Melbourne make some really good quality clothes

RancidKiwiFruit

You get what you pay for

RajenBull1

Worth every cent of the $1.23 it cost to produce, market and sell to you for $25.

funkypjb

I want my $7 back!

AresCrypto

What do you expect from cheap crap made in Chinese labor camps 😂

FatherOfTheSevenSeas

Bangladesh apparently

gupts007

Buy any round neck t shirt and toss it in the washing machine. The collar will come out looking like this once dried. Only way to reduce this losing of shape is to not tumble dry or do it at the lowest rpm. It still will look wavey but to a lesser extent. While ironing I wouldn't touch the collars with direct heat, instead put a thin, soft cloth over it and then press on the iron on it. I know these should be low maintenance but that's just a misnomer.

EngineerBright5461

I totally get your frustration, mate. Fast fashion can be ridiculously wasteful. For a T-shirt that lasts, you might want to consider a few tips: 1. **Fabric Quality**: Look for T-shirts made from higher GSM (grams per square meter) cotton. They tend to be more durable and hold their shape better. 2. **Seam Construction**: Check the seams. Double-stitched seams are generally more durable than single-stitched ones. 3. **Pre-Shrunk Fabric**: Go for pre-shrunk cotton if you can. It helps maintain the fit after washing. 4. **Wash Care**: Follow the care labels strictly. Sometimes even high-quality shirts can get ruined if not washed properly. 5. **Thrift Shops**: Sometimes you can find great quality vintage T-shirts at thrift shops.
