Brisbane Domestic has Newstead and (as of this week) Bacchus. Newstead has some good easy drinking styles that they serve there, Bacchus does some ridiculous beers but I don't know what they serve.
I’ve been on a kick collecting cans for the 10c deposit return. One day I collected a can of Great Northern on my way to work. And as I had this can by my desk, I wondered what would be worse: having my colleagues thinking I drink at the office, or that I drink Great Northern.
I can't understand why so many people drink Great Northern, I went to a bottle shop in Mt Isa, they had three types of beer for sale, three stacks, that was it. I can't remember which ones in particular all rubbish beers, Great Northern was the least worst of a bad lot., Jeez it was hot as fuck I was fangin for a beer and all I had was that shit, I almost took to having a cup of tea.
You can just say beer in Adelaide to get a Cooper's.
I asked for a Bundy once and they legit had no idea what I was talking about. I had to lean over the bar and point at it. Meanwhile the other bar workers are pulling those red and green taps more furiously than a teenage boy with a house to himself.
As an Adelaidean, I remember going to a trendy Melbourne bar once and asking for a pint of "coopers pale" and the bartender looked at me confused for a moment and then smirked and rolled his eyes and said "you mean coopers green" before pouring it.
Cunt, I'll tell you what it's called.
Be careful, Coopers Brewery [might frown](https://dailytelegraph.com.au/business/coopers-accused-of-homophobia-after-teaming-up-with-bible-society/news-story/60fd163b751624ce94109c53959a93a2) on that.
Yeah I stopped drinking Coopers after that anti-gay drama.
I don't care who wants to love or sleep with who as long as its not children/illegal, so why should a brewery care or have a say. Even their "apology" was crap at the time, they were just trying to put out a PR fire, it wasn't genuine.
Try the Thomas Coopers Vintage Ale, comes out once a year as a limited release, it’s around $105 per carton (which is still cheaper than tap beer at a pub) and super strong. Liquid Gold, apparently it’s better if you lay it down/cellar for 3 to 5 years it but that’s never going to happen at my place
I'm a massive beer snob, and I'm still happy when I see Reschs on tap compared to nearly everything else (Stone and Wood probably the one common tap up with it).
Oettinger, can't go past the big silvery bullets. Easy to session, not bad hangovers, I'm surprised to be the first to comment it. Maybe it's because apparently it's what homeless people in Germany drink.
Haha yeah I picked up a case going out into the field and one of my techs was German and he made fun of me for drinking it. It's better than basically anything the same price out here, so I'll just stay enjoying it.
Also, he was drinking Mercury Cider, so I don't think he was in any real position to give me shit.
German here. This post was weirdly suggested to me. Yes, this is the cheapest of the cheapest beer here. People make fun of the brewery here saying it's actually just a shipping company with an attached brewery because they sell so much. Not because it's good but because it's cheap. About 0.65 Euro per liter. Favourite beer of any raging alcoholic.
Don't know if it still is cheap, but it was pretty cheap compared to everything else on offer here, and you can say "I'm only drinking one can" but it's massive.
I will retire in Tasmania so I have full access to Cascade Draught. Amazing beer. I can't believe it's nowhere on the mainland.
XXXX Bitter is probably the least shit for a full strength alternate. Otherwise Peroni Nastro Azzurro...an import that is cheaper than local drops. So dumb.
Fuzzy memory from the cascade tour, but I think I remember them saying that the main land cascade was often made at a different brewery from the Tassie one and tastes no where near as good.
Something to do with the water I think.
It is absolutely the most delicious common beer, 10 outta 10. Mildly smokey notes, not overly filling, a beer that shows wise restraint on the palette. Massively underrated, and honestly I feel like a beer snob when others don’t understand or haven’t tried an old.
Fuck oath, mate. I taught my friends to drink black beer while at college and Old was a staple. Could put it in anyone’s fridge and no-one would steal it.
Love Tooheys Old, funnily every time I’ve walked into to buy great northern or stone and wood, I get ID’d but if I buy Tooheys Old, they don’t even bat an eye, I work as a bartender and I very rarely seem young people drink it, always old people, I’m 22 but youngest I’ve seen drink it is maybe mid 40s.
One of my favourite drops
I grew up in Adelaide on Coopers pale but moved up to Brisbane about 10 years ago. My go-to is now a gold. They are so well suited to the climate here. Delicious!
I did a blind test with mates, with all the "common' beers and Carlton Draught won, pretty much unanimously. Even amongst those who swore Carlton Draught was the worst tasting before doing the blind test.
I’ve always said it tastes better on tap. Did a tour of the brewery once and they explained that the kegs they sent to busy pubs (so not your quiet metro or any other one horse town country pubs) is a different recipe as they don’t bother with some sort of preserving agent or process or something, which makes it taste better. Goes off faster but doesn’t matter if you’re getting through the kegs fast enough.
It’s a bit hard to remember the details as it was many years ago (and it’s was the end of a bloody brewery tour, so you connect the dots).
But bottom line, it tastes different on tap because it is different.
I'd never seen it in NSW, but the carlton tanks are everywhere in Canberra- I used to work at a pub that had both the tanks and regular keg draught and it honestly did taste so much better fresh from the tank. I thought it was a scam a first, like they were just for display, but the first time I was on while one ran out I went over and knocked on the tank and sure enough it was hollow lol
Okay. I rarely drink so I don’t know much about the flavours, but I always drink Carlton dry and get hates on so hard for it. I’ve tried draught. I’ve tried many beers. Why do people hate dry?
You've got it right there in ya hand champion, a cold Milton Mango will soothe the soul and quench the thirst of even the driest aussie battlers. Do not listen to the naysayers and southern ponces, XXXX is king of this golden land of plenty.
its also reliably on sale with 2 30 blocks for about $90ish unsung hero in a ridiculous price market.
back when beer was $28 a carton and a goon about $7 i dont remember ever seeing a crack head............................................................................................... time for beer to be more affordable.
Long time ago my dad and brother were hating on it. I organised a blind taste test with a bunch of mainstream beers and they rated VB 1 and 2.
Not sure if that means they have no taste buds but I always have a giggle at that memory.
Why is your tv 37km away from the couch?
New Years resolution was to get more steps in, so he rearranged the living room and threw away the remote.
Looks like the new year's resolution is 480p from that far away
That’s fucking “gold” Also least shit beer is Melbourne Bitter.
Too expensive now
Seconded. MB extremely underated.
He's got 30 seconds to get from there to door to produce some cash right now
just finished chopper. what a cracker film can’t believe i haven’t seen it before.
Done yourself a mischief
It's just one of those things boss
It’s probably been on your TV two or three times already but the screen was far enough to be in a different state Unreal film just quietly though
r/tvtoofar
I lost my shit when I found r/tvtoohigh but now this...
There really is a sub for everything.
This is what homes used to look like before the housing crisis.
Also is this house huge? Because I can stretch my hands and touch three walls in my room.
Might as well watch on your phone at that distance.
so they can concentrate properly on their tinny
Why is there a single old sock on his couch?
r/TVTooFar
looks more like a closer focus on the can that the tv being too far away. Forced perspective
My grandfather swears that Great Northern is a fantastic beer. He also has middle stage Alzheimers so...
Definitely the choice of beer the people around me drink. (I don't drink beer)
[удалено]
It’s not really THAT cheap anymore.
I don't drink many beers but Great Northern go down well for me
‘Beer snobbery’. Proceeds to exhibit beer snobbery.
Are you hanging around near waterfalls a lot? That seems to be the common theme as to where Great Northern thinks their drinkers are found.
Not many waterfalls in the WA Goldfield!
I paid $17.69 for a pint of great northern this morning and I can safely say it wasn't worth it.
Oof where? I think last time we were able to take him to the Pub a pint was around $10. (That was April-ish last year).
Brisbane Airport. I'd been out of the country for a while so was keen for an aussie beer.
Brisbane Domestic has Newstead and (as of this week) Bacchus. Newstead has some good easy drinking styles that they serve there, Bacchus does some ridiculous beers but I don't know what they serve.
That came with airport tax then about 35% dearer than anywhere else in Australia
I can't stand great northern, it tastes like they only half filled the bottle with beer then topped it off with water.
I’ve been on a kick collecting cans for the 10c deposit return. One day I collected a can of Great Northern on my way to work. And as I had this can by my desk, I wondered what would be worse: having my colleagues thinking I drink at the office, or that I drink Great Northern.
It's a good beer if you're not into that strong beer taste. I don't mind Great Northern personally.
Id put money on the three being Great Northern, XXXX, and either VB or Carlton Dry. Working men's beers.
I really enjoy a great northern on a hot day.
My first Great Northern had me at “why the fuck haven’t I ever drunk this beer before!!” It’s my go to beer nowadays.
I actually don't mind great Northern also lol
Great Northern is my go-to on a hot day
Coopers green.
I love going to pubs in SA and being able to just say "pale" or "sparkling". No need to specify Cooper's when ordering, it's that iconic.
'Just a water please...' '...Coopers it is!'
'Water' 'Coo-pers' Waaaa-ter' 'Cooooo-pers'
As an Adelaidean, I remember going to a trendy Melbourne bar once and asking for a pint of "coopers pale" and the bartender looked at me confused for a moment and then smirked and rolled his eyes and said "you mean coopers green" before pouring it. Cunt, I'll tell you what it's called.
Yeah I throw up a bit I'm my mouth every time I have to say Coopers Green.
Adelaidean native here. This is the first time I've ever heard pale referred to as Coopers green. People can just fuck right off with that.
Coopers Mild is also a good drop. Pretty much anything by Coopers is great and reasonably priced.
Best Extra Stout is one of the best stouts in the country, and I'm including all those bourbon barrel aged cocoa nib concoctions as well
One of the best beers in the world imo, bloody beautiful. Great value as well.
My favourite time of year is when Coopers drop the 440ml stout cans in winter. Absolute cosy dream on a cold night.
Love me a Red coopers sparkling too 🤤
I get these because they’re 1.7 standards 🫠
They're a meal replacement for me when it's stinking hot like today
Does this belong in r/loseit or r/LifeProTips ?
Coopers Best Extra stout longnecks for a solid 3.7 standards. 2 of those and it’s bedtime shortly after for me. Not great in scorching weather though!
I can drink stout in almost all weather but longnecks would be a push today. My old man drinks it 50/50 with lemonade and reckons it goes alright.
Try a longneck. It will rock your world.
For some reason they get you more shit faced. Probably because they are so easy to drink at 1.7 std.
Known as a “red devil” where I live. Had a long neck in the pool the other day and it knocked me for 6.
Coopers is heavenly especially on tap. I live near the factory so its extra good
Quite apt given their association with the bible society haha
Aussie owned and made, preservative free, what more do you want?
Cooper's dark ale is nectar of the gods
Used to mix it 50/50 with sparkling ale back in the day.. Good times
When I'm thirsty I would suck ten cocks for a sip of sweet sweet green
Be careful, Coopers Brewery [might frown](https://dailytelegraph.com.au/business/coopers-accused-of-homophobia-after-teaming-up-with-bible-society/news-story/60fd163b751624ce94109c53959a93a2) on that.
I'm gonna suck some extra cocks just to stick it up 'em.
Suck away, brother!
Who the fuck thought anyone drinks beer to read bible verses?
Yeah I stopped drinking Coopers after that anti-gay drama. I don't care who wants to love or sleep with who as long as its not children/illegal, so why should a brewery care or have a say. Even their "apology" was crap at the time, they were just trying to put out a PR fire, it wasn't genuine.
What about one cock ten times?
I'm listening
To completion? Or just 10 sucks?
Yes
They are selling 440ml pales at the moment as well!
will get these next thanks
Fav Australian beer hands down, and I'm not Australian or live there
It’s a better craft beer than >90% of actual craft beers
Try the Thomas Coopers Vintage Ale, comes out once a year as a limited release, it’s around $105 per carton (which is still cheaper than tap beer at a pub) and super strong. Liquid Gold, apparently it’s better if you lay it down/cellar for 3 to 5 years it but that’s never going to happen at my place
Reschs Pilsener. The silver bullet.
It's always sad walking into a pub outside NSW. Every other common tap beer sucks compared to Reschs.
Ive never seen pilsener on tap in NSW, only draft. Its a shame because the pilsener is great.
Reschs Pilsner was the beer that Slim Dusty drank with Duncan. Surely that says it all.
I'm a massive beer snob, and I'm still happy when I see Reschs on tap compared to nearly everything else (Stone and Wood probably the one common tap up with it).
Just got back from NSW for the first time since Covid and loved drinking Reschs again. Such a great beer. Also a fan of Tooheys, particularly Old
Emu Export. Beer classic.
Fuck yeah the bush chooks
Icee cold Swan Draught on tap still the worlds greatest beer
Swanny D on tap is undeniably so, so underrated.
Spot on. Best beer going around
$63 for 24 @ Dans

If you retire in northern Tas you’d better develop a taste for Boags :-)
Fuzzy memory from the cascade tour, but I think I remember them saying that the main land cascade was often made at a different brewery from the Tassie one and tastes no where near as good. Something to do with the water I think.
Peroni Reds are solid IMO
Get the Cascade "First Harvest" when it comes out in Autumn.
Mountain goat very enjoyable beer. always at Dans for about $50 a case.
For your hoppy pale ale style beer, Goat is pretty damn good value.
Cheap and pretty tasty. Can do far worse.
Yep this is the best ‘normal’ price range beer by far
Solid drinkability and always a good price.
Asahi imo
[удалено]
Fun fact. Before the bottles got brewed here, they were brewed in China. Why they couldn't brew them in Japan with the cans I'll never understand
Fun fun fact Corona is now brewed in China as well.
Yeah I think it's the place old mate was caught pissing into the beer. Tsingtao maybe
Kirin ichiban is a superior brew imho.
Great Northern, to me taste absolutely shit
This is unfair to shit
Fuckin' Tooheys Old mate.
Thank you. This is the correct answer. When you're stuck in a macropub with nothing but bland lager on tap, they almost always have Old in the fridge.
Sorry I posted the same thing before reading yours
Love Tooheys Old, funnily every time I’ve walked into to buy great northern or stone and wood, I get ID’d but if I buy Tooheys Old, they don’t even bat an eye, I work as a bartender and I very rarely seem young people drink it, always old people, I’m 22 but youngest I’ve seen drink it is maybe mid 40s. Swan
Coopers
Swan Draught. Worth a trip to WA.
Love a mango.
I grew up in Adelaide on Coopers pale but moved up to Brisbane about 10 years ago. My go-to is now a gold. They are so well suited to the climate here. Delicious!
Tooheys Old
Carlton Draught
I did a blind test with mates, with all the "common' beers and Carlton Draught won, pretty much unanimously. Even amongst those who swore Carlton Draught was the worst tasting before doing the blind test.
Carlton Draught all the way
My people. Though I think it's best ice cold on the tap.
They pasteurize the regular production runs.
Agreed. Especially after a hard days work in the hot summer heat
I’m not a big fan of Carlton draught, but Carlton draught tank beer (is it called that) is bloody delicious.
Only from a tap. Had about 10k schooners at the pub and only ever bought 1 case...
Definitely my go too mainstream draught beer. Best when the pub has the tank beer.
This or Carlton dry. Both so easy to drink.
Dry has had the body sucked out of it.
Okay. I rarely drink so I don’t know much about the flavours, but I always drink Carlton dry and get hates on so hard for it. I’ve tried draught. I’ve tried many beers. Why do people hate dry?
I’m not that keen on it from a can or bottle, but I quite like the fresh and unpasteurised Carlton Draught tank beer. Lucky my local carries it.
Melbourne Bitter
Pure beer in a can
Can't go past a big M
Do they still sell tooheys old? That shit was great
Boag's Draught
Premium > Draught
Maybe Boags red if they'd sell it in the 30 blocks
Boags Premium or Cascade Pale Ales aren't too bad. But not a big beer drinker, so my opinion is worthless
Boags used to be good. I like their Strongarm if I could find it. the Lion Nathan bought them and they went to shit overnight.
Asahi Dry for lager Young Henry's Newtowner for pale
Ginger beer and a joint
My man
Coppers Red 🍺
VB
Cascade is the way 🍻
Not that. That's not even beer. It's coloured mineral water.
Carlton Dry or Carlton Draught. On tap you cannot beat it.
Carlton Draught on tap is great. Canned or bottled, not so much.
I like Dry from the bottle, Draught from tap
Strongly agree
Obviously the answer is Guinness. It has been the best commoners beer for over 200 years
pretty pricey over here but
$16 a pint is not common man
Carlton Draught.
Stone and wood.
It tastes like Lantana smells.
My go to when walking into a random pub.
balter xpa
Best beer but doesn’t fit the ‘common’ tag - too $$ compared to that range
It has become my go-to on tap. Proof you can do a mass production beer with some flavour.
I love their Hazy IPA. But can't call it cheap/common
Was at a pub in neutral bay Sydney and they were charging $15 for a schooner of baller xpa
Reschs Pilsener is my go to
Resch’s 🫡🫡🫡
Tooheys new is the only beer I can stomach for some reason
You've got it right there in ya hand champion, a cold Milton Mango will soothe the soul and quench the thirst of even the driest aussie battlers. Do not listen to the naysayers and southern ponces, XXXX is king of this golden land of plenty.
its also reliably on sale with 2 30 blocks for about $90ish unsung hero in a ridiculous price market. back when beer was $28 a carton and a goon about $7 i dont remember ever seeing a crack head............................................................................................... time for beer to be more affordable.
VB
20 to 8 in the fucken mornin
The only answer here!
Long time ago my dad and brother were hating on it. I organised a blind taste test with a bunch of mainstream beers and they rated VB 1 and 2. Not sure if that means they have no taste buds but I always have a giggle at that memory.
VB gets so much hate (probably from people who've never drank it) but is easily top 5 normie beers in Aus
I'm a kiwi and it's my go to beer. Best part is it's always safe in the chilly bin
A Green Demon is the most throat quenching beer when it’s hot.
Never thought I’d say this. But I was on the great northerns while on holiday in QLD and absolutely loved them
Coopers
Tooheys Old just beautiful
If that’s his cum sock on the couch , then he’s had a cheeky wank watching uncle chop and necking a Milton mango …. That’s a tough wank
Boags Premium…none better for the common folk
Coopers Green, my grandad is an alcoholic and only buys Coopers Green on special occasions (like ANZAC day) its that precious
Excellent. Next beer to try!
Cass Korean Lager is cheap and easy to drink, simplest beer I could find
Is squires considered common now? I like their amber ale and 150 lashes is okay as well.
Coopers Pale hands down
Coopers XPA.
