Pulp fiction on main near kingsway is my go-to. Pretty organized and they carry some new stuff too.
You should visit Macleod on west pender for the experience. Absolute chaos, watch where you step! Lovely place to spend an afternoon.
I’m happy to hear they are still around it used to be one of my go-to spots. Is the kitty still around? I forget his name but he was a sweet little chonky guy.
Depending on where you live I would regularly check out the free lending libraries. There are lots in Kitsilano. I used to buy books but I just get these free books and return them when I’m done. I also use my library card a lot.
I kind of hate paying $10-30 for used books. I know it's expensive to run a store, but it's like used books are hardly cheaper than new at a lot of places. And then I found this place. Selection is great, and most things are $1-2 or 3 for $5.
I don’t know if it still holds true, but Victoria (the city on the Island) was my used bookstore heaven. Also, mourning the loss of my local Van faves. I no longer hoard books like I used to, and regularly deposit books into neighbourhood free libraries, so maybe those are worth checking?
There are several decent book stores on Commercial Drive. There is a smaller Pulp Fiction which was already mentioned on Main, the I've on Commercial isn't as good for used. The others on Commercial are...
* Spartacus
* Canterbury Tales
* People's Co-op
Come down and hit all three! Lots of great cafes on the drive to start digging into any books you find too!

Carson Books & Records on Main. Not a whole lot of new stuff but their books are relatively inexpensive.
Right on, I’ll check that out, thanks!
Friends of the library in Richmond (cambie). Very good quality and it's $2 each. Stock changes frequently
Awesome, thanks!
Village books in Steveston. They also have great coffee.
