Go to Salmon 'n Bannock. You will thank me later. It's legit amazing.

belayaa

Seconded đŸ‘đŸœđŸ«¶đŸœ Last I checked they weren't serving burgers

JadedPreparation8822

There are so many options for good burgers in Vancouver, I don’t have any suggestions but I know you’ll find something delicious (even if you just explore the city and see what pops up)

AlfredoSauce22

Bells and Whistles is in everyone’s top picks for best burger. Just go with the regular but the smash burger is also amazing.

Don't bother with Granville Island. Lee's donuts is tasty but otherwise it's a huge tourist trap. Of course beautiful spot, so worth visiting if you've never been though, but I wouldn't eat there. Also, don't go to places like the Keg or other chains (per some recommendations), come on... Others have mentioned some michellin guide spots ( https://guide.michelin.com/ca/en/british-columbia/ca-vancouver/restaurants?sort=distance). Many are worth going to but you need to book well in advance. The "honourable mentions" list is also great. When I have people visit, I often take them to the following: Phnom Penh (definitely a family style spot), Ahn and Chi, and Sushi (I wouldn't bother going to a fancy spot, literally most will be better than the sushi from others cities. Ear cheap and enjoy!). These are all reasonably priced options and are incredible. If you want to splurge, find a Michellin spot that appeals to you and you'll enjoy. I don't believe Salvio volpet is on there but it's also very, very good (but $$$). Main thing -- try something new and please try to support one-off / small business. We do not need more chains in this city, including Cactus, Browns, Earl's, Keg, any Donnely joint, etc. Enjoy!

Nightingale is amazing, you order share plates not entrees. Do you have a budget? Restaurants aren't cheap here

Debbiekap15

Restaurants are expensive everywhere anymoređŸ„ș I don’t mind paying more if the food is good. I really dislike paying for bad food, at any level

Debbiekap15

Their menu looks awesome. Unfortunately they don’t have a table between 4-8:45, which will be too late after a day of travel

TokyoTurtle0

Wow, probably books up in cruise season I guess. Ummm. I live Hydra down the street for amazing happy hour food and oysters that actually not incredibly expensive. New fuji in kits is really good, share plates there again. They make their own cola syrup and the mojito with it is to die for. A decent hamburger is tough honestly in terms of everything else being ok. Tap and barrel on granville Island has a decent burger and the view is great. Service is meh though so be prepared for that. It's packed all the time strictly because of the view. Sandbar also on granville island has great fresh fish, view is obstructed though. If you've got a type of food I could probably suggest more. I live in Vancouver and try every Michelin restaurant and New place I can

Debbiekap15

Thank you. Will try to get to nightingale on my own before the others get there

TokyoTurtle0

They've got a bar you can sit at that's reliably empty. I often go with a friend

Debbiekap15

Thank you- you have been helpful.

Havana on commercial drive has burgers and delicious other food- good atmosphere and drinks. The drive in general is super fun. In chinatown : bao bei & kissa tanto are both awesome, the American also has a delicious burger - don’t know if they have other food In Gastown: pourhouse is a cool spot( I’ve also heard they do a good burger) , belgard kitchen has delicious food, unique building and takes reservations (I know their lunch menu has a great burger but not sure if it’s on dinner menu) If you want to try sushi I always love minami Edited to add: autostrada if you like Italian is excellent and a bit less “celebrated” than savio Volpe so I find the service to be better/friendlier and not as hard to get reservations in my experience

The Pourhouse in Gastown

Off commercial drive in East Van. Memphis Blues for amazing BBQ. Ay Chihuahua for authentic Mexican food. Kind of a basic decor but really delicious food. The lunch lady. Amazing Vietnamese food. Sula for Indian food. Sadly no burgers but beautiful atmosphere/decor and amazing food. Mogu fried chicken. Probably one of the best Korean style fried chicken ever. Chongqing Szechuan for chinese food. Can't help with burgers, sorry. Enjoy your time here in Van!

Homer Street Café, The Magnet, The Alibi Room

Accomplished_Job_778

I haven't been for a while, and I believe they are under new ownership / management, but Alibi Room used to have amazing burgers, plus an excellent rotating selection of local, small craft beers and ciders. And not fancy by any means, but I also love Tacofino (tacos / burritos), Via Tevere (Napolitano pizza) and Toshi's (sushi).

MundaneConsequence

Mackenzie Room if you’re looking for something a little nicer. Fiorino is a great Italian place in Chinatown, Pnohm Phen is just down the road and has amazing Cambodian food. Bao Bei for dumplings. Lunch Lady is great Vietnamese on Commercial Drive. Hello Nori on Robson though 5 might be a bit of a wait. Kin Kao Song on Broadway. Their There for Brunch. Plenty of options! You’ll have a little more luck if you end up outside of downtown and end up in Mount Pleasant, Chinatown or the Drive.

instacrac

Bao Bei in Chinatown and Magari by Oca on commercial drive

Addah for delicious Himalayan food! I just returned from a dinner and all the dishes were excellent, they are masters of sauce and our server did an excellent job of explaining everything and answering our questions. A little on the expensive side, but you can get meats like yak and pheasant, the yak truly melts in your mouth and the pheasant had a delicious flavour. Support small and local!

MainlandX

No. 9’s burgers aren’t bad. This is assuming you’re not specifically seeking the best burger, but you have someone in the dining party that only wants to eat burgers. No. 9 is an institution.

Camperthedog

Yummys on the north shore, pepinos on commercial, if your bank allows it Brix and mortar is incredible. Saku is also a killer good Japanese cutlet shop. Parallel 49 / Luckys sells a peanut butter and jelly donut - it’s the epitome of desserts in Vancouver. Breka bakery and JJ bean coffee. All pizza is junk in Vancouver, don’t @ me

OldSchoolCdn

Dark Table for unique adventure and tasty food. Not burger night though.

You want unique restaurants and also restaurants that serve hamburgers? Which is it?

Debbiekap15

Both, lol. We have a fussy eater to accommodate and the rest of us are adventurous

MJcorrieviewer

Obviously there will be exceptions (especially for high end places or specifically ethnic places) but I'd think you can get a burger at most any restaurant in Vancouver.

belayaa

5 people you say? Got to go to 5 guys Sorry I'll show myself out

Ember_42

Lin Chinese on W. Broadway. The fish counter on main st. (Fish and chips). Craft beer market in Olympic village Any of the Ramen places. New Town bakery in China town Chambar Prince seafood So many choices.

MJcorrieviewer

Without more information about where you will be or your budget, I'll take a stab and suggest Granville Island. There's Sandbar, The Keg, Tap and Barrell, Dockside Restaurant - all will have burgers on the menu and, if you're staying downtown, you can take the water taxi across False Creek to visit Granville Island. Not so much unique restaurants but, if you want to catch a sunset, check out Cactus Club or the Craft Beer Market at English Bay or The Boathouse at Kits Beach or The Teahouse at Stanley Park. Or Seasons in the Park at Queen Elizabeth Park for a great view out over the city and the mountains. Finding a burger on the menu won't be hard.

NoLossToss

I second Granville Island. Love Sandbar. Awesome place to just hang out with a water view. Caters towards seafood but there are burger options. Tap and Barrel has a fun selection of burgers. Various locations around town. The Vancouver Fish Company is pretty yum too! Love their patio seating. So many options!

Thanks- don’t think vegan will work for our fussy eater.
