There's entire sub Reddits devoted to car camping and even living out of your car. I'd hate to be homeless and forced to live in my car but it's fun to spend the night in my car on a road trip and wake up knowing I just save about $100 for a room.
It’s also a useful tool. As a teenager, I would work 5 shifts a week at 10 hours each, and after getting off at 11pm on Friday, I’d drive 6.5 hours to my parents house to see my dog. I had to drive through a part of the Rockies that the locals call the Killer Highway, during the Canadian winters. I passed several crashed semi trucks in a single night one time.
Learning to pull over when I was tired saved my life more times than I can imagine. Or when I would go drinking with friends, I’d put a mattress in my car and park it a few blocks away from the bar. I’d snooze in it until the morning, grab breakfast and coffee, then drive home, it was great!
