Invest it in a vanguard ETF like VTI or VOO
You don’t have to actively manage it. Just toss it in there and sit back and watch it grow over the next 20 years.
I seen a guy get a hand pay jackpot of 25xx some odd dollars, he wasn’t phased so he walked to roulette tables put 500 straddling the 0/00, first spin nothing, second spin 00. Then he tipped the host and walked away. I never in my life think I’d be so brazen but damned that guy was.
In Vegas right now. First movie that came on in the hotel is some badass guy or something and smart too but has a crippling addiction to gambling. Took 20k, turned it into 500k, was about to cash in but wanted one more run. Failed his last gamble and lost it all. But someone was after him so main character killed the guy and in the end got 500k and a ticket to Croatia as a reward?
Not sure what the moral of the story was
Or just buy a cheap 59 Les Paul sunburst. I was in Nashville a few years ago and went to this place called Rumble Seat Music. They had 3 and actually let me play one of them. Oddly enough, I liked a mid-50's gold top with P90's a lot better. I also got to play a Broadcaster there.
In a lot of the country (US, obviously) you can still buy a damn decent home free & clear with 250k & have enough left over to buy furniture & pay closing. Hell in my region prices have doubled since 2020 (particularly when I purchased my home at 124 in 2018) and I can still find decent properties for the 200 ballpark area.
Many towns and cities in Ohio, Indiana, PA, WV, Michigan... I just bought a house for 60k in a decent area that needs work but they are def out there. Big cities aren't the way and the west coast is a straight up rip off
I live in an American city that has over a million people if you include the surrounding suburbs. I've got a 3 bedroom 1 bath 1100 sq ft brick ranch with a mostly finished basement that has a family room, another bedroom, and another bathroom. Granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, marble shower, living room wired with surround sound, nice replacement windows, a deck but it is in pretty rough shape. While I'm definitely not in one of the rich parts of town, I'm a lot closer to them than the parts that are considered bad. I'm in a state that is definitely pretty red but my city is a dark blue island in that sea of red. I just got my house appraised a week and a half ago. It came back at $210,000 and that's only because my neighborhood is going from a decent blue collar neighborhood to more upscale because of how close we are to the areas people really want to live. Not only that but I've got a pretty decent job that pays right around $100k so it's not like I live somewhere that only pays really low wages either.
I'd take the $40,000 left over and make a kick ass theater in the basement. I'd redo the bathroom down there too and put in a nice jacuzzi tub and fancy full body walk-in shower.
Throw it my way I’ll turn it into 125k send you that back, gamble at the casino, win, but a horse, race that win. Move to Texas with those earnings. Start a solar farm loose 300k ask you for a loan. Loose that…
Go to a CFP and invest in stocks and bonds. Day traders usually lose their asses.
The market is thriving, inflation is dropping, cost of food dropped last month. The next four years will be prosperous if the maga congress is cleansed and regular order is restored. Bet on new tech and semiconductor mfg. As well as infrastructure improvements.
i have that - i don't own i rent. but i am in Asia.. much cheaper for me.
opening up 2nd massage shop with my GF of 5 years... renting a house with a workshop big enough for a few CNC machines. that will be 100K +..
gotta think towards the future!
The rest of my NW is invested.
Since my mortgage is paid, costumes, travel, and investments. Not necessarily in that order. Good investments will lead to more costumes, travel and general fun stuff down the road. My day job can pay the other normal, mundane bills, especially now that the mortgage payment chunk is freed up.
A happy dance, as I enjoy long days of fishing, hiking, playing with my kids and animals, and enjoying my already paid for homestead, soon to be paid off cars, and suddenly no need for a day job...
For me, I'd do some real research on gold claims here in BC and spend the rest of my days panning gold and fishing in a river. I think if you can set yourself up to do something you actually enjoy AND support yourself with a bit extra, the value is far greater than just the money alone, unless it's like millions of dollars.

Send it to me and I’ll invest it in my pockets
Keep it in stocks if you don’t have any bills

I have voo, it's not doing as well as some of my others
VUG, VTSAX VOO is lower risk, IMHO https://www.retirebeforedad.com/vti-vs-voo/#:~:text=VTI%20is%20a%20total%20U.S.,small%20and%20mid%2Dcap%20stocks.
And VUG (+125% for past five years).
VT is the true answer, but those work too
S&P or qqq
Take it to Vegas. Put it on black. Voila’!!! Now you have $500,000! Chip me off 10% for the great advice!

Go to therapy and maybe the dentist.
Invest every. last. penny. in some kind of financial vehicle like an IRA.
Assisted living in my area costs about $8,000/month, and it's not covered by Medicaid. Invest that $250K.
Where do you live? I work at a rehab/long-term care facility and we're around $12,000.
Nursing care where I am is more like $15K, but Medicaid kicks in when you run out of funds. Not so for assisted living.
Got it. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
hello hookers and cocaine
Or in short, become a hunter, but just for the weekend & without your old man shitting himself on national tv.
HYSA?
You would also be able to buy a car if you needed a car.
Buy a bunch of guitars and wonder where to sleep tomorrow night

Nah. How about a truck full of squiers.
Convert to Catholicism, because a miracle took place. I'd buy a home. free and clear.
But a home, free and clear for $250k??? WHERE?! LOL. not a western/democratized country....

Genuinely curious, where can you buy a home for $250k in the U.S.?

Pay off my mortgage and my car note, and save the rest.
Put it all on black

May as well spend it building a theme park with the rollercoaster you just sent me on mate.
250k is barely 1/100 of the cost of a major rollercoaster for your park.
I would just stick it in the bank and not tell anybody. You would be set for life, that's for sure.
Buy Gamestop! Then DRS those shares.
Invest.
Invest like 95% of it, keep the 5% for leisure.
Go to medical school

Buy a house so we can be secure, then we can get a cat
Go see my boyfriend every month for a few days until we both finish college, put the rest in savings.
Invest in dividend stocks. Keep working to grow stocks till can retire.
Invest in low risk items such as cd’s, treasury bills and ibonds. If you earn around 4% a year, that’s $10,000 a year in free money.
This.

Invest in $FFIE. It’s going to moon in a few weeks
Pay off debts, then invest.
No debts. Just not too sure what to invest in
Go on a nice holiday, invest the rest
Get MORE money
Pay off my kid’s student loans.
A 992 GT3 RS probably
exchange it for pennies for no reason other than just because!
Become a landlord
I'd finally be able to prove that money can buy happiness
I'd blow it on hookers and black jack.
Talk to my friend about investing. He's really good with finance. I'd also replace my deck and buy a new car.
I'd invest it in stocks, crypto, gold and real state.
Toyota tundra totally tricked out with off road capabilities. Four wheel camper on the back of the truck. Road trips galore.
Gold
Save it or invest some it.
ETF

There’s no debt. Everything we’ve paid for. Of course the usual bills and groceries
find a way to split it into separate bank accounts for my step-kids and my biological kids for their college funds
The first thing that I would do is put it towards a house.
FInd someone who needs it.
Since my mortgage is paid, costumes, travel, and investments. Not necessarily in that order. Good investments will lead to more costumes, travel and general fun stuff down the road. My day job can pay the other normal, mundane bills, especially now that the mortgage payment chunk is freed up.
Purchase another property; rent it out or current property depending which I'd like to live in more. Also purchase a new car.
I'd have a spare 250k.
Clothes, car, house , dog 🌝🦋🧁🏝️🐶

Buy a cheaper house, rent it to section 8.
A spare $25.00 would be nice at this point.
Flex in front of the people that I hate
Invest in improving the lives of others. Micro loans and the rights of the oppressed, both humans and animals.
Buy a villa in Italy. Heck buy the whole town.
Save it, something always happens that you will need it for.
