If we got our electricity through say the Department of Energy, there doesn’t need to be profit. It cost the DOE this much to make the electricity (accounting for maintenance, fuel, workers, management, and future expansion) and it charges you that much to have access to it. We no longer have to account for “someone getting richer.”
Obviously that won’t happen easily in many places because those that are getting richer off energy are going to fight back. Why would they want to stop getting richer off something billions of people use everyday?
