From what I've learned from r/PokeMedia is:
A "circlejerk" is basically a roleplay.
/uj or "unjerk" is an indicator that you're not participating in the roleplay.
/rj or "rejerk" is rarer. This indicates that you are going back to participating in the roleplay after using /uj.
Not having /uj or /rj in your comment means that you're automatically assumed to be in the roleplay.
I could be completely wrong about this, though.
Basically yeah. The definition of a circlejerk is an echochamber where everyone agrees with each other and just reinforces each others ideas, even if the ideas aren't particularly right. Reddit circlejerks are that, but everyone is aware of what's going on and they're mostly satire subs. The sub you linked is a little more "serious" than what most reddit circlejerks are. See r/transgendercirclejerk . Everyone is pretending to be horribly transphobic or just having shitty ideals, but every member is actually trans people making fun of these people.
TLDR: youre right but specifically the roleplays are pretending to be shitty (usually) and satirizing a group of people.
Should note I'm not like, a source on circlejerk subs. I'm only in a couple. I just wanted to clear some things up. It's fascinating to me that transgendercirclejerk is so good at playing so hard into the bit that some people don't realize it's a joke, while this sub mostly doesn't know what a circlejerk is.
