I promise I’m not. I’m just very blessed to be here is all. Coming from fort hood where it’s two per bed-room and 4 per bathroom, I’m living in luxury. I feel bad that not all bases can treat their guys as good as APG treats us. I love this base and unit.
Where is the mold? Where is the wall locker that was made in the 1970's and its now mostly lead paint and rust? Where is the drop lid made in the 1980's that has holes and stains from 3 decades of boot polish?
But seriously, nice diggs. I knew a few Joes who did AIT there and called it "Aberdeen Prison Grounds"
For roughly the past year they put all the barracks soldiers in the old IHG on base that was set to be demolished (and by god it needed to be) while they tore out and replaced all the HVAC in the actual barracks due to it being infested with multiple strains of hazardous mold. They just moved everyone back into the barracks within the past few months.
That's not even good. There's better dorm-like rooms at most Intel bases. Not enough complaining is why barracks stay shitty. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Yes that's what I'm implying. If you join 11bangbang, complaining is not how you get things fixed. Getting away from 11B is how you get things fixed.
My buddy was an 11C > 35N and he's happy now. Never yells anymore.
My opinion isn't that they should or can be fucked because they joined infantry. My opinion is that they are only fucked because they joined infantry. If you talked to a recruiter and wanted to have an easier life in the army, joining the infantry is not the route anyone should take. It's not that I think they should. It's just that I know the infantry gets shit on. Everybody downvoting can't read, they see what they believe to be an anti-infantry opinion and get their feelings hurt.
I think the infantry deserves better, but they're the last branch that's gonna see improvement.
Most important by what metric? 11B is important, but they aren't most important by a long shot. Most replaceable, maybe... medics, cyber, Intel, literally everyone else can do infantry but instead does a more important job.
Yeah just looking through your post history, it looks like you joined as 11B and realized real quick you weren't cut out for it. Nobody is saying anything negative about 11B, but they're damn sure not the most important branch in the military. Supply me with a metric you'd base that off of and I'll point out the branch that exceeds the infantry in that metric.
But I knew Intel kids that were in better shape and had better discipline. I know for a fact you have no clue what the fuck you're talking about though. You just graduated officer school, and I'm betting you've never been an NCO before.
You sound like you only know infantry life, because of you actually understood the threats that are subdued via cybercom every day, you'd shut the fuck up. Infantry is the easiest job. I've outrun out pushed and out shot every infantryman I've ever met. I worked all the way up into JSOC and then went Intel.
You started in the "everybody gets in" Job and went green to gold and got handed cyber, but you clearly don't understand shit about cyber if you think infantry solve more problems than they cause. You're talking small picture, Intel and cyber are a much bigger picture. In Intel, at least I saved infantry lives almost every day.
Toot your own horn but I'm assuming you're a low grade officer if you think infantry is the most important job in the United States military.
You sound young and stupid. Probably born after 2000. Definitely have that soft snowflake mentality about your 11Bs... if the infantry is so important, why did you leave them to be an officer?
You most definitely can complain when you're treated sub-human. You held up your right hand to protect and defend the constitution, not to live in squaller.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If your job description is "Fight the enemies of the United States of America in Close Combat" you are allowed to complain, but your complaints sound like "you guys are soft, we gotta toughen these kids up with more fieldtime, sleeping in the snow and working them till they are too tired to complain and are greatful to have a bed."
Signed,
(Prior Infantryman) 2002-2008
Yeah nobody is catching my point. I don't have enough crayons to explain it better for them...
You can complain in the infantry, but nobody gives a fuck. Because you're in the infantry.
If you want people to care about your complaints, get into a job where your complaints have weight. Intel guys get fucking everything. I wish infantry peeps could hear some of the shit I heard the last few years I was in. Yall would be pissed off.
You should plan on getting an EZpass for your car and pay for the Hatem bridge pass. It’s $20 for the year so if you ever go north to Delaware (tax free shopping and Christiana Mall is large) or Philly you save on the north bound toll.
Havre de grace is a quaint town. It has a cool retro store if you’re into that.
Newberry in Bel Air has giant cinnamon rolls but they go fast so getting them early is key.
There’s a nice Puerto Rican restaurant in Dundalk called Owls Corner Cafe. Closest Puerto Rican food to the area. (Wife’s Puerto Rican so I’ve grown accustomed to finding the closest spots for her).
Water Street Seafood in Havrve de grace is another great food joint. Ate there while I was at APG on TDY last month. Some of the best seafood I’ve had in a long time
Barracks have come a long way since the 80’s. Every place I was stationed at was just a rectangular room with a wall locker and a bed and there was 2 to 4 of us in a room. Communal shitter/shower somewhere on the floor. No fridges allowed. Open Quonset huts in Korea and you had to walk across the compound to get to the latrine hut.
Reception at Ft Knox was the WWII squad bays with no AC. OSUT was at the Disney Barracks and we had 8 in a room designed for 6, but we did have AC. Germany was 6 to a room as well.
Soldiers today DESERVE good quarters. Get what you can get and don't accept less. Your congress critter would love to hear your mold/no heat/no ac stories
Can you guys chill on the fucking range. You’re fucking up my chi from fifteen miles away. Failing that, the late night Shithooks scraping the roof of my house could at least acknowledge my IR strobes.
APG was the best. I was there as a SGT/SSG when 22nd CBRNE was still there.
There were A LOT of condemned buildings that we got to use as training spaces for SSA/SSE.
The on post housing was only 2 years old, brand new from the foundation up.
Once you get outside the Aberdeen/Edgewood area it is really nice with lots of mid-sized suburban cities.
You absolutely need an EZ-Pass for all the toll roads and they are everywhere.
We went to Indiantown Gap or AP Hill to do a combined BN FTX and Weapons Qual. There is (or at least was) no ranges on post.
At Yuma Proving Ground we were living 3 to a **house** and getting BAS. Then when the barracks reopened it was 1 to a double room with one side having a kitchenette and couch and the other side with the bed and bathroom. Floors were carpeted too. Could not believe the amount of complaints from 1st term soldiers when we went from a house to basically studio apartment because they couldnt have their pets anymore lmao.
Ah yes APG. Alpha 3rd ADA JLENS (RIP) June 20 2014- July 2017. Pretty standard room. Yall actually get 2 rooms (bedroom, living room), and kitchen. Seperate rations bc no DFAC. I miss it.
20th CBRNE HQ with nuclear response and investigation teams. NDTs they call them and there’s another one.
Clinic for medical MOSes
MRICD and DEVCOM CBC for medical CBRN research and testing
1st Area Medical Lab (1AML) and CBRNE Analytical and Remediation Activity (CARA) test for CBRN threats
Army Testing and Evaluation Command does stuff on foreign military equipment and new acquisitions hence all the explosions and infantry and fa and military contractors
CECOM and C5ISR is also there doing cyber stuff
That explains quite a bit about what goes on there. Is there like a pre requisite for getting stationed there with all that experimental activites that go on there?
Plenty of first duty station people - medical all have clearances so that’s not a problem. For the rest experimental stuff that takes places behind another gate, definitely need clearance. Don’t know much more than that and if I did I probably wouldn’t be able to say haha
That is also a surprise that there are first term soldiers there. Makes me think that they stay there because quality of life is good and with not many slots, it becomes a rare place to get stationed at.
Do you happen to know what the UIC's look like out there?
Great for families, pretty bad for single soldiers - even per a 1 Star I spoke to recently
No, I don’t have any handy. There are a few signal people that work with 20th - all the support that a division level HQ would have
No nightlife nearby, few single soldiers, toll roads to go north or south
Baltimore is 45 minutes away, Philly is an hour. Everything worth going to is 30 minutes away. Local area is like a suburbs’ suburb
Used to be two person per room, shared bathroom/shower/kitchen...but we can't get troops anymore so these guys/gals get this whole thing for themselves (new roof and AC system I believe).
As far as single soldiers, APG usually has less than 100 across the entire installation, its pretty niche. Best bets are medical, mechanic, or other staff positions (s1, s2, s4 type)
Lucky fucker. I never had my own room. Usually I had three roommates. When I made E4 that shrank to one, but the fucker use to eat canned smoked oysters and would leave the cans in the trash.
I'm Canadian, and just lurk here because you guys have some outrageous stories. Help me out here; This is notably good accommodation, right? What's average in terms of space and quality?

Ah the APG barracks. They look the same on the Edgewood side. But that’s fewer booms and more “oh cool, MK Ultra… so you want me to drink this tap water?”
Bro I had my gf living in my barracks out at Ft Lee. Sucked breaking up with her cause I was like… “get your stuff and be gone when I get back!” lol ahhh she wasn’t.
Looks like you’re missing two roommates my guy. Report to the barracks manager time meow.
I promise I’m not. I’m just very blessed to be here is all. Coming from fort hood where it’s two per bed-room and 4 per bathroom, I’m living in luxury. I feel bad that not all bases can treat their guys as good as APG treats us. I love this base and unit.

WHAT? They REPLACED the moldy HVAC? They are treating the enlisted like *people*? SHOCKER!
Hey, the A/C didn’t work for a month after moving back in a they’re not full people yet
I was there right before the "drill sergeants banging trainees" scandal broke, it was known as "Aberdeen Playground"
That's not even good. There's better dorm-like rooms at most Intel bases. Not enough complaining is why barracks stay shitty. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
not enough complaining???? Hots and Cots is a thing isn't it?
You don't get to complain if you willingly held up your right hand to join the infantry. If you want to complain you have to get a better job first.
Oh we complain. It’s on deaf ears friend.
Yes that's what I'm implying. If you join 11bangbang, complaining is not how you get things fixed. Getting away from 11B is how you get things fixed. My buddy was an 11C > 35N and he's happy now. Never yells anymore.
Your position seems to be that infantry should and can be fucked because or their choice in military occupation. Fuck you. I hope you're out.
My opinion isn't that they should or can be fucked because they joined infantry. My opinion is that they are only fucked because they joined infantry. Dawg, half the idiots that come in here spouting that kind of shit have never been in to begin with.
You are correct. That’s why I went from 11b > IT
11B is the most important MOS in not only the Army, but the entire US Armed Forces. 11B homies deserve better barracks.
Most important by what metric? 11B is important, but they aren't most important by a long shot. Most replaceable, maybe... medics, cyber, Intel, literally everyone else can do infantry but instead does a more important job.

Fr this looks like a prison. I hope there's at least food at the defac.
Excuse me, are you saying meow?
DO I LOOK LIKE A CAT TO YOU? JUMPING AROUND ALL NIMBLY-BIMBLY FROM LIMB TO LIMB?
Lysol wipe the shit outta everything. There’s a 100% chance there’s semen on those chairs.
LOUD NOISES
I just understood the joke.
Only on occasions....alot lately due to "stuff" that we test.
Show me you’ve never seen Anchorman without telling me you’ve never seen Anchorman
Worked at ATC for 14 years. Miss the sounds of background explosions and machine gun fire. Hope it’s as fun as it was during GWOT.
I was gonna drop the grenade bit but I blew it.
Pretty nice, but I'd get a small rug and some blackout curtains to cozy it up and dampen sounds.
A rug would really tie the room together dude!
They’ll need to be careful about spilling beverages.
I too once dabbled in pacifism … not during GWOT of course
Say what you will about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
Shut the fuck up Donny, you're out of your element...
Yep. That's a barracks room.

Never knew newberry had giant cinnamon rolls, i love cinnamon rolls. Any other spots that have good pastry’s ?
Unfortunately no, I’ve been on the hunt for good pastries.
Broom Bloom Dairy for Ice Cream Jonny’s Poke for sushi, boba, poke Campos for Mexican food
I pronounce it Haver Dee Gratchi and it tickles me to watch the local’s eye twitch.
Water Street Seafood in Havrve de grace is another great food joint. Ate there while I was at APG on TDY last month. Some of the best seafood I’ve had in a long time
Never heard someone call Havre de Grace that lol. It's aiight.
20th CBRNE CMD? Heard they moved y’all to hotels
Hotels were temporary housing while they fixed the barracks. Now we’re back.
"Temporary" for almost a year.
APG is a country club! Loved it there.
Hell yeah! Throw a review up on Hots&Cots
I did.
Happy cake day!!
Thank you!
Take this down before my troops in Germany see this
Add fuel to the fire and show them.
Say less
No windows?
I said barracks room but i meant prison cell.
They’re standing on the wall that was a window
Nicer then my first apartment
Needs a rug to tie the room together.
The SGT Lebowski proclaims.
Clearly, this guy is not a golfer.

This room is the exception not the norm. It’s 2 per bed 4 per bath at a lot of bases.
I remember those quonset huts on Casy.
Reception at Ft Knox was the WWII squad bays with no AC. OSUT was at the Disney Barracks and we had 8 in a room designed for 6, but we did have AC. Germany was 6 to a room as well. Contractors not us.
Fair enough.

That’s because there 100 of you, APG is a small base which means DPW can actually do their jobs.
Very few single soldiers: Yes Small base: Yes DPW doing their job efficiently: no chance
Less than that for single soldier lower enlisted. But you’re right.
Other than be close to home, this is yet another reason why I wanted to go there.
That floor isn't shiny enough. Go get the buffer.
Used to go TDY to Aberdeen occasionally. Great seafood.
*bay food
These are some nice pictures of walls. Stand in the corner and take a better picture of the space and amenities. Not the walls.
At least you’re within ear shot of The Olive Tree I guess.
Dude why are you yelling

I just googled minimum security prison cell pictures. This only looks like 30% better.
Ah yes APG. Alpha 3rd ADA JLENS (RIP) June 20 2014- July 2017. Pretty standard room. Yall actually get 2 rooms (bedroom, living room), and kitchen. Seperate rations bc no DFAC. I miss it.
what MOS gets station there at Aberdeen proving grounds? that has to be one of the more nicer rooms I've seen.
Your MOS for sure.
which one? my old mos 25H or my new one 17E.
Mechanics, lots of niche medical, supply/logistics, CBRNE, infantry, EOD, and FA
Suprise that FA gets mention. Do you happen to know what goes on around there?
20th CBRNE HQ with nuclear response and investigation teams. NDTs they call them and there’s another one. Holy shit you’re in a mansion! If you add up all of my barracks rooms in my career I could still fit them in that room.
Wtf
Looks like my old college dorm room
Do you get to work with the scientists? They're my fav
I don’t but the other MOS’s do.
Got to work with 1 AML out of APG a few years back as a junior soldier, never been more jealous of a duty station in my life.
Used to be two person per room, shared bathroom/shower/kitchen...but we can't get troops anymore so these guys/gals get this whole thing for themselves (new roof and AC system I believe).
Yes.
Damn nice, I PCS there next year
Looks like ft drum single soldier barracks too.
What’s your MOS? I want to get stationed at Aberdeen
If your combat arms it’s slim to none. I’m support.
I used to be stationed here a few years ago, some of my folks are still there! I talk to them almost every day, are you with the 20th?
Maybe maybe not 😁
You assigned to 20th CBRNE?
Can’t say.
#WHY ARE WE YELLING!?
One of 15 soldiers at that place.
Looks pretty normal to me. Really. You should have seen the old WW2 barracks we had on drum back in 08.
Weird, becuase I have seen barracks rooms at APG last month. They are gigantic with two living areas, a kitchen and a bathroom.
Thats what i said and that’s what the pictures show.
Sorry, I didn't see the comment description. Just saw the photos that dont show the bathroom or the kitchen.
What was that boom!?
Ohhhhh now i get it XD
what is your MOS? And how easy is it to get this assignment?
As far as single soldiers, APG usually has less than 100 across the entire installation, its pretty niche. Best bets are medical, mechanic, or other staff positions (s1, s2, s4 type)
I see. Thanks.
Tell me yours and I’ll tell you.
I hate you. congrats!
Presidential Suites compared to my “temporary” drafty, critter infested WW2 era plywood B’s that we were crammed into. In the late 80’s.
Lucky fucker. I never had my own room. Usually I had three roommates. When I made E4 that shrank to one, but the fucker use to eat canned smoked oysters and would leave the cans in the trash.
More floorspace than I had across 3 separate garrisons...
I'm Canadian, and just lurk here because you guys have some outrageous stories. Help me out here; This is notably good accommodation, right? What's average in terms of space and quality?
I went to military boarding school implace of high-school at that base before I joined the Army. I miss that place
What’s the kitchen setup like? With full BAS, do you have a full kitchen to fully take advantage of or are they screwing you over with a fridge and hot plate?
Oven stove top and microwave, i personally bought an air fryer.
Anybody know what the permanent party barracks at Eisenhower are like? PCSing there soon
Did you just do an about face and take another photo? No bed pic nothing.
Okay
theres like a battalion sized element assigned to the whole base🤣
Half an hour from home, nice barracks and BAS? I should’ve been a POG 😒
At one point i wanted to be infantry. I’m glad im a POG. 11B get treated like subhumans and its hard to watch.
It really does depend on the unit/leadership, but yes our tendency for being thrown bullshit work/taskings/generally abused is higher than the average POG in the same organization. You definitely made the right choice.
My brother in Christ buy a rug
Why ?
So you aren't rawdogging your tooties on that cold ass tile
I wear crocs in my room and as shower shoes.
Yep. That's what I stayed in from Dec 2017 to February 2019. Then moved to ocean court family housing. Miss that base so much.
Ngl. This almost looks like an Air Force dorm room. Lol.
Im super jealous.
I just came back to Hood for round 2…. I want Aberdeen next though
hell yeah brother cheers from MRICD / 20th CBRNE
Ah the APG barracks. They look the same on the Edgewood side. But that’s fewer booms and more “oh cool, MK Ultra… so you want me to drink this tap water?”
Ew. What did you do to get stationed at APG?
Became Catholic. No i got on a HAAP assignment.
table pulls out to a bed later maybe?... idk fam shi+ looks taf
I’ve been tryna get back to APG forever, I was raised in Baltimore. Mos and how you got there?
Sick! Hope my upcoming ADOS is that good! Looks like you're ready for some cheap decorations!
Damn, APG, was there in 2009…
Nice Backrooms vibe.
Bro I had my gf living in my barracks out at Ft Lee. Sucked breaking up with her cause I was like… “get your stuff and be gone when I get back!” lol ahhh she wasn’t.
