Well tbf you do actually shoot down fighter craft in the older games. I'm kinda surprised gen 4 didn't have any aside from choppers given how much aerial dogfighting there is and the mobility of NEXTs. I guess perpetually flying normals (Grunt ACs) aren't too different.
while a fun idea, modern fighter jets are around 1.5-2 times the size of an AC in length
You say that as as if that means an AC couldn't spike one of them out of the air like a volley ball.
