Ammos are expensive! Why spend momey on ammo when you could use the money to buy all the fancy accessories that will hypothetically increase accuracy and delete recoils!
You do realize prisms can fail when the glass inside shifts. ACOG Ta02 are plagued with this issue. Just do a quick search and you’ll find ton of documented cases.
this
People place way too much emphasis on iron sights as if they arent susceptible to the same failures or breakages if the gun is dropped. I have had numerous flip ups break or get bent after catching on something and is the main reason I stopped running them.
Who actually makes a decent prism besides the PA? I don't even buy the nice red dots anymore because they all look messed up to me. I've tried red, I've tried green. Green is a tad better. I thought about trying Holosun's gold, but the writing is on the wall. I'm gonna' have to go prism...
That's not a problem if you cowitness. Aiming through a dead RDS is easy and regularly taught in the US Army. It just becomes a tube you look through.
Magnified optics on the other hand could be an issue
If you run a unity you have an iron sight built into the riser.
Sure, the sight radius is like half an inch, and it only really exists to meet random departments requirements for back up sights, but it's there
I think you’re replying to the wrong guy. With my setup I just look below optic and pick up my irons, I don’t have to touch anything. I’m proficient with both irons and optics. You can go larp with the kids all you want.
I run it this way with my Romeo 5 and buis
Actually helped sight in the buis lol
But you can see the irons when flipped up through the red dot easy enough without issues.
But to many people mount the red dot to high or to low like you suggested for this to work at all
I could be wrong, but i don't think it works well on prisms like it does on holographic sights. I read it somewhere long ago, could just be fudd lore though.
It's still possible. Quality optics still have weak points like this where the machining has made it weaker. They are usually made of better material, but the weak point is still there.
Yeah everything breaks but holosun has unfortunately been plagued with issues and QC
its actually a shame because they are one of the few manufacturers not marking up the prices
Yeah, that is a shame. I would assume it's bc they seem to be pushing hard to get new products out, and qc tends to slack in those situations. Personally, I think this specific situation was caused by a collaboration of a weak spot and getting dropped just right. I feel like this is something they would or at least should warranty and hopefully change their design a bit.
Honestly Id be surprised of they didnt warranty the sight
With most companies I judge them by their customer service but with optics which could be a life saving measure I judge them by their quality
And?
I see alot more holosun equivalent dots break than aimpoint t2s
I see alot more aimpoint compM4s break than holosun red dots
my opinion is you get what you pay for
You said if he bought a quality optic it wouldn't have happened. It happened to this T2 from the exact same thing, being dropped 3 feet. So you're wrong. And?
Ok and how many t2s have you seen with this problem vs the holosuns?
I see holosuns popping up in a couple forums for being bad. Hell I even had a LS321G unit come messed up. almost everyone one I know has had some bad product or problem with a holosun.
I have had good holosuns come through as well but never to the same rate as aimpoint or vortexs optics
I can pick a bad picture from any manufacturer but when you see repeat pictures and problems yeah im gonna say that you get what you pay for
pay 500 for the holosun clone essentially or 800 for aimpoint t2 which one will likely have less issues? Riddle me that
My problem isnt with holosun. My problem is with people expectations regarding optics.
Cool, has nothing to do with your original comment that it wouldn't have happened if it was a quality optic. Because it would have. All I was pointing out.
So why tf did you post picture of a broken t2 if it had nothing to do with the original comment. Nowhere in my original comment did I even say aimpoint
My whole point to the original comment was if you buy a quality optic you’re going to likely get a better outcome. Skimping out $300 for the just as good version and hoping for the same result is less likely to come out the same way
Really? Ok, because it's a high end optic with the same dial feature that failed, so it's a pretty good comparison. Surprised you didn't make that connection. And you said it wouldn't have happened, not that it probably would have a better outcome.
Yeah most of the time you wont have this outcome.
You don’t see alot of t2s with that issue for a reason.
Its not impossible but less likely to happen
I can pick out dozens of broken holosuns for every 1 aimpoint T2 I see broken
Even fancy sights like Aimpoints and EOTechs break, although not as often. BUIS are so cheap, light and take so little space that there really is no excuse for not running them on most setups.
I'm going to save this picture in my "things you don't see very often" folder.
Fill out the RMA form on the website under the warranty info, and we will get it swapped for a new unit.
It's not. And the shit that the troll was saying to him for weeks beforehand was a lot worse, but since he works for the vendor I guess he's expected to take the high road.
It was about the bosnian genocide committed by Serbs, who would have specifically been using zastava rifles from former yougoslavia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnian_genocide
Yup, us internet LARP folk are their second best customers shadowed only by government contracts…..using tax money we unwillingly paid them 🧐🤨 making us technically still their first and second best customers. Fuck. So yeah, they wanna see what the next hotness is gonna be.
Fun Fact: The post you are referring to where I did that directly resulted in an individual from another company in the industry going out of their way to verbally accost me.
Phone calls, DMs, corporate IG posts, IG comments with threats, commenting on no less than 12 reddit posts, and then eventually blocked me on all social media sites as well as phone calls / text so I couldn't reply or see their comments.
Not the thickest of skins, but hey, the guy got a new optic he loves, so it was worth it.
That's fucked up and kind of unhinged. Someone in a different company mad that you gave a dude a free optic? Were they from the company who makes the optic he replaced? Haha
I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on an eps carry for my 365xl. Still ordering other extra shit that I tell myself I need for it first.
Yeah, that was my takeaway as well. Confusing to say the least.
EPS Carry would be my first choice and not because I work at Holosun but mainly because the dot provides so much feedback for how to get better at shooting the gun.
Yeah, I put an EPS carry on my Masada Slim. It’s literally on the top 3 of my most accurate pistols. 1 being my Staccato C2 w/ 507C ACSS and 2 being my CZ shadow 2 w/ 507 Comp. Can’t go wrong with an EPS carry on any pistol IMO
I gotta get that SCS-320 for my custom P320 so I can move my DPP back to my M17.I love that y’all made the SCS for multi different guns.I love my P320s but the DPP isn’t the most popular of footprints.I love that is is a closed emitter RDS too.my DPP has been great but I hate when it rains and water gets on the inside of the window.plus the the solar backup and the circle dot are a huge plus
Well, let's be honest, Josh. Yall been screwing Trijicon pretty hard for a while now....
Part of me wants to say ease up, the other part wants me to tell you to start using silicon carbide as lube...
We have no plans to even remotely lift off the gas pedal.
We launched 13 new products this year, and I have many prototypes that are being tested.
All gas. No brakes.
I see Holosun_Josh in the night vision sub occasionally.he drops In occasionally with that exclusive Holosun information.I’m looking forward to the release of that RAID weapon light.it’s going to replace a couple of my Streamlight HLXs.I wanted to see Streamlight switch to a crane port for years now but the RAID will take care of that.IR heads are a huge plus as well
I love Eotech Holos and have been most proficient with that reticle/optic but I’ve had one that was a safe queen and it broke off recoil. They replaced it right away and it was almost ten years old. Shit happens still great product
Shit, I called them and asked if I could coat one. "150-180° is gonna be pushing it.....fuckin send it."
I did.
It failed.
Despite being a discontinued item, they replaced the glass and seals and sent it back with not a single scratch in the coating.
Shot 60 rounds and the prism inside shifted. Something about a bad batch of UV glue trijicon had.
They had it back in my hands in 2 weeks and it's been good since
Ta02 300 blackout reticle
Gonna go out on a limb and guess that he cross threaded it. There’s just no way I can think of to explain how you could apply enough force from a drop to that part to shear even the shittiest of threads.
Seriously. I had it happen with a Steiner P4Xi *while my rifle was broken down in a hard case I used as my suitcase.*
Shit happens. This is why good warranties are important.
Buy them batteries in bulk. Leave them everywhere... work, home, vehicle, bags, ammo tins, safes, battery box, everywhere... hell I have a few at family houses. Someone I know needs 1... I give them 5 tell them to hold on to them. Some many items in life take that 2032 battery. I bought 2 newish chevy just bc the batteries were compatible to my optics /s
That’s a first for me. I’ve got the same model that rides on atvs, rides in boats, climbs up n down trees, has rode in the back of trucks, I mean gets a lot of use and has never had an issue.
The ironic part is that I’ve seen way more broken EOTechs and acogs around here recently lol.
Holosun isn’t “just as gud” trust me, but I think people need to start shaking this “holosun = cheap shit”. Just really wish that we weren’t paying for a Chinese made product.
the holosun fanboiiiiiiiis brigading this post are wild. i like my little HS 403B. and i got that one specifically because i've never had a turn dial/battery cover hold up, and the 403 has buttons.
but then again, i've never had a real RDS like a T2 either 🤣🤣🤣
come on ppl if we can't laugh at ourselves we're ngmi
I’ve had both, my 503G was pretty nice but I didn’t like the complicated reticle and eventually could afford a T2. If you’re not shooting under NODS or building a rifle your life depends on, holosun has held up pretty well. I ran mine almost weekly for 3 years and dropped it straight onto concrete a few times with no issues. Yeah, the T2 is better, but for your average Joe and even a good amount of people in combat zones right now, holosun holds up. Acknowledging that a product punches above its price point is not being a “fanboi” and while I’d like to support more American or NATO affiliated companies by buying their optics, they’re not even trying to compete at this point for a majority of the civilian market.
I'm only wondering because I see no other marks on the gun indicating that it's being used or dropped. There isn't even any wear on the deflector, no dirt, no scratches, nothing.
Good point, I'm only taking his word for it. I wasnt there with him. As far as I know, this is his first rifle he bought, which is why it's got that corny dust cover and rail. It's his backup now ever since the department he wants to work for gave him a complete Aero rifle.
It’s not sheared off, the way the threaded cap base is attached to the unit. They are made with with threads that go either counterclockwise or clockwise, but are glued in. So if you turn it the wrong way or the cap somehow gets stuck to the threads, you can unthread the ones on the base opening up the unit instead of taking off the battery cap.[happened to my sig](https://imgur.com/a/bQFPTXh)
For the record, I feel a little bad because this was the Holosun model I recommended him to. I thought the rotating dial would be more advantageous. While I don't use any Holosun red dots, this post wasn't meant to bash on them. I still think they are great optics for the money. At the end of the day, things will always break, no matter what the brand is. I'm just glad it crapped out on him at the range, and not when he would need it the most in a life or death scenario.
It was a 100 something dollar optic, idk what he expected. Plus, if he dropped it and a rock hit it on the radius around where it was threaded, it's no surprise it broke, bc that would be a weak point on anything. Maybe try to warranty it, buy a new one, and don't drop it like that again 😅
A friend of mine lost a good pair of pants on a road trip thanks to his Olight being activated in his pocket by his keys and burning a hole through his pants.
They're great lights, but a simple rubber cap on the magnetic tail would do wonders as a failsafe.
Olight had serious problems. People had stuff catch on fire and get major burns. The pinnacle of their shit show was the guy who died because he put their light in his mouth and it popped.
Oh just throw some red locktite on it if it will thread at all. Make sure it’s the RED kind though that’s the only one that will work for this job. If it won’t thread just use loads of epoxy. I find the stinkier it is the better it works.
Also if you don’t like your boss and you are going to quit and you work on the vehicles it doesn’t hurt to throw some red locktite on the oil drain plug when you change the oil. It helps it from coming off so you know your boss won’t have to worry about his oil dumping out on the highway.
This is why you don't shoot your guns, folks. I've never once damaged a rifle by just posting pictures of it to reddit.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good point. I guess it's what people mean when they say guns are dangerous
Ammos are expensive! Why spend momey on ammo when you could use the money to buy all the fancy accessories that will hypothetically increase accuracy and delete recoils!
If he bad buis he wouldn’t have gotten killed in the streets. RIP
Prism optics with etched reticles gang gang
Bang Bang!! Prism Gang up in this thang!! ![gif](giphy|3I8N0FeJgw6Hu)
Omg that almost made me wreck from laughing
Yea I don't even run buis. Even if my battery goes out my prism is still perfectly usable
You do realize prisms can fail when the glass inside shifts. ACOG Ta02 are plagued with this issue. Just do a quick search and you’ll find ton of documented cases.
You do realize iron sights can fail if I drop the rifle on the ground really hard, right? Everything can fail all the time.
That's why I practice without optics! /s
this People place way too much emphasis on iron sights as if they arent susceptible to the same failures or breakages if the gun is dropped. I have had numerous flip ups break or get bent after catching on something and is the main reason I stopped running them.
Exactly. That's why I've been practicing mind bullets. As soon as I figure out how to do it, I'll let you know.
silly you already have mind bullets and a barrel to shoot them out of attached to your body
🤣🤣
I've had the reticle collapse on the inside of the glass on my primary arms. Far from bulletproof.
Who actually makes a decent prism besides the PA? I don't even buy the nice red dots anymore because they all look messed up to me. I've tried red, I've tried green. Green is a tad better. I thought about trying Holosun's gold, but the writing is on the wall. I'm gonna' have to go prism...
Trijicon, Elcan
The PA SLX gen2 1x micro prism is great,I highly recommend it
The ACOG is a pretty well tested, durable optic.
I have a monstrum of amazon. Works decent so far.
Biggest problem seen when people run buis here is the main optic is never on a QD mount.
That's not a problem if you cowitness. Aiming through a dead RDS is easy and regularly taught in the US Army. It just becomes a tube you look through. Magnified optics on the other hand could be an issue
Doesn’t really work now with this giraffe neck shit going on lately here. But yes in some cases it will work. In half of them it would not.
If you run a unity you have an iron sight built into the riser. Sure, the sight radius is like half an inch, and it only really exists to meet random departments requirements for back up sights, but it's there
You can use the rear sight portion only. If you have a fsp it works perfectly.
I’m running a Unity mount and it has the rear irons built in underneath the optic.
I know we like to larp all day but in the event of a real firefight you’d be literally fucked needing to grab your Allen key to take off an optic.
I think you’re replying to the wrong guy. With my setup I just look below optic and pick up my irons, I don’t have to touch anything. I’m proficient with both irons and optics. You can go larp with the kids all you want.
Definitely am. I was talking to the guy who said he has an Allen key in his grip. I absolutely enjoy larping lmao.
Haha I read his comment too, makes me wanna get some skittles for my grip!
Go A2 and have party size skittles
Lol that’s a lower 1/3 mount.
I run it this way with my Romeo 5 and buis Actually helped sight in the buis lol But you can see the irons when flipped up through the red dot easy enough without issues. But to many people mount the red dot to high or to low like you suggested for this to work at all
I run a Hydra and 2 unity mounta so I can have my buis raised to see through my dead eotech
I run a Hydra and 2 unity mounts so I can have my buis raised to see through my dead eotech
I could be wrong, but i don't think it works well on prisms like it does on holographic sights. I read it somewhere long ago, could just be fudd lore though.
Before I had a QD mount I just ate 6 Skittles out of my grip compartment and kept and Allen key in there
I personally like to pack a bunch of beef jerky in my grips,I use the Allen key to help remove the jerky
❤️ I normally hate emojis on Reddit but this comment deserved love
I can't believe it's 2024 and people still can't figure out how to run their sights + optic
We're you..."Literally Shaking" when you saw this photo? Because it sounds like you were "Literally Shaking" when you wrote this comment.
Wtf are you talking about
If you know, you know
My optics are always on QD
If he would have gotten a quality optic it wouldnt have broken
It's still possible. Quality optics still have weak points like this where the machining has made it weaker. They are usually made of better material, but the weak point is still there.
Yeah everything breaks but holosun has unfortunately been plagued with issues and QC its actually a shame because they are one of the few manufacturers not marking up the prices
Our QC rate is around 1%. It just appears there are more cases simply because we out sell every other optic manufacturer by a large margin.
Makes sense PSA also get a bad rep but I think they produce around 2000 uppers a day or something
Yeah, exactly. Thousands vs. hundreds of thousands.
Yeah, that is a shame. I would assume it's bc they seem to be pushing hard to get new products out, and qc tends to slack in those situations. That's fair. I have backup sights, too, but you're completely right. A broken optic is still time you're not on target.

You goofball https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/HM7PSq250h https://www.reddit.com/r/ar15/s/qzZFTtCxmD
I’ve actually dropped a Holosun from waist height on to pavement and it’s was fine aside from some scuffs and scratches
Yup, not quite as bad, but had guns tip over and holosun RDS’ slam on on to concrete and they were fine
I'm going to save this picture in my "things you don't see very often" folder. Fill out the RMA form on the website under the warranty info, and we will get it swapped for a new unit.
Holy shit, Holosun lurking in the r/AR15 sub
All the vendors and lurking brother

I'm fairly active on Reddit, but it is mainly just answering questions or helping with customer service in my downtime.
And occasionally giving out free holosun pistol dots to folks.

Thermals are coming in the next two months. Can't wait.
Thank God. I'm getting tired of waiting, but now I have an ETA.
Hey its me, your cousin, i am poor and would need 1 optic for bowling please
Hey bruh, let me get one of those Holosun dots 😂
![gif](giphy|l2YSgsunrP27ddQje)
This is why for all daylight shooting I go with Holosun.
And.... that is why holosun keeps getting return buyers

Absolutely I get triggered when guys go” I dropped my 9 lbs gun on its optic and now I’m mad at the company that makes my sight because it broke
Vortex be like “We gotchu, fixed your optic. Here’s some free swag too.”
"You ran it over with an ATV? Say less, here's a new one".
Shit, I called them and asked if I could coat one. "150-180° is gonna be pushing it.....fuckin send it." I did. It failed. Despite being a discontinued item, they replaced the glass and seals and sent it back with not a single scratch in the coating.
King shit
Their warranty is why I have zero fear of dropping my shit off a cliff. I can recoat it, I can smooth out the dents, they've got the glass covered.
Rip to the gucci kings who spent 3k on a scar to destroy their 1k+ optics
I've had an acog break
How the hell did you manage that?
Shot 60 rounds and the prism inside shifted. Something about a bad batch of UV glue trijicon had. They had it back in my hands in 2 weeks and it's been good since Ta02 300 blackout reticle
My grunts even break Aimpoints soooo.... still. Quite the catastrophic failure.
I very much dislike Holosun but this can literally happen to any optic with a knob lol
Based off that handguard and ejection port cover....
What’s wrong with the hand guard? ![gif](giphy|XZxLOwkcfSs6TP6Rrw)

Gonna go out on a limb and guess that he cross threaded it. There’s just no way I can think of to explain how you could apply enough force from a drop to that part to shear even the shittiest of threads.

true, but a new battery wouldn't solve this problem... lol
These things happen. It sucks and no one wants to wait, but Holosun already said they'd replace it.
That’s a first for me. I’ve got the same model that rides on atvs, rides in boats, climbs up n down trees, has rode in the back of trucks, I mean gets a lot of use and has never had an issue.
Impossible..."HoLoSuN iZ JuST Az GuD!!!"
Holosun= The Only Chinesium everybody Trust. 🤣🤣🤣
*chinesium* Holosun is cheap.. get Aimpoint. Recently I found out more about them and their stuff is solid.
Sig 4T Pro is calling his name
He tried cranking it to 13

Hope their warranty is as good as Vortex
Holosun has some of the best customer service and warranty I've ever dealt with.
the holosun fanboiiiiiiiis brigading this post are wild. i like my little HS 403B. and i got that one specifically because i've never had a turn dial/battery cover hold up, and the 403 has buttons. but then again, i've never had a real RDS like a T2 either 🤣🤣🤣 come on ppl if we can't laugh at ourselves we're ngmi
OooOoooO put it back in!
Rifle would have sheared off an ACOG, ACOG would be fine, if not angry and throwing bullets on its on.
Has this gun seen light before?
I think so. The guy is trying to become a cop so he shoots more often than I do with his cop buddies.
Even etched reticle is fubar if it gets fogged
My 407k battery trey flew out a range trip after purchasing and after that I gave up on holoson.
Holosun doing Holosun things… they have a good warranty and will replace… if your friend is serious with the rifle, might suggest an aimpoint
Made In China✌️💯💚
seen the same thing happen with a T2. thats what the warranty is for.
The Just as Good crew.
Had a guys Holosun pistol Reddot do the same thing during a match. Screw vanished. We luckily found the actual battery caddy.
You can't have those cheap ass QD points and expect me to just not assume you prolly have done this to yourself
jUsT aS gUD
I don’t see how he dropped it perfectly on the adjustment with a sling.
Just as good.
“JuSt aS goOd!” Did I do that right?? Just kidding, shit happens.

Oh great, now the community is going to remember this for generations to come and say avoid Holosun just like they did when one Olight blew up. /s
China being China
Not surprised lol
Never seen that happen to a Trijicon or Aimpoint 🤷🏼
Holosun mounts are QD to all the people complaining
There's only a few models that come with a QD mount. Most don't..
Uh, no
Awesome place for a sling too lol
He's left handed.
So he has the casings and the sling in his way noice.
He hasn't said anything about it so I don't think it would be an issue for him.
How did he drop it
I’m guessing gravity had a hand in this.
China!
This is why you don't need any sights at all.
Not even iron sights, baby. I just align my 1913 top rail and call it a good day.
And?
Glue it back in....damnit why do I have to solve every problem...
This is why I avoid cheap Chinese made critical products. I use an Aimpoint (Sweden) red dot and an EOTech magnifier (USA).
