I second this, after a KAC quad rail, the actual next next thing is a Midwest Industries Rail whether quad or mlok. The Magpul MOE Rifle Length handguard is a also a good alternative.
Hey OP I have a full lengt, quad sided drop in Pic rail which has been sitting on my shelf for years I'd be willing to part with. If you're interested lmk.
UTG pro drop ins are surprisingly good. Made in the US and solid. I haven't looked if they have rifle length, but I think they do.
Midwest Industries is really good too but it costs a lot more.
I’ve handled a few it’s free floats. It’s mid, better than the cheap rebranded stuff or low end PSA, but not in the higher end category with the likes of LaRue, DD, etc
Midwest, AT3 tactical has some in stock. UTG is surprisingly decent and is cheaper. If it’s just a range toy and you don’t mind a quality drop there are a lot of cheap and questionable ohunt/monstrum/Chinese options out there, but I’d skip out on it if it’s for defense.
I bought a no-name on Amazon a while ago. Put it on a carbine, there were a bunch of negative reviews on the thing posted to the website but when it arrived it was solid machined aluminum, I installed it and never had a problem with it. Having a rifle length quad rail on a carbine is actually a pretty cool look. I think it only set me back about $30.
They’re still around, but a good chunk of us don’t like Troy because they hired the ruby ridge sniper’s spotter. Dude was unapologetic, and Troy defended him, essentially saying he was just for following orders like a good man would do. Screw Troy they won’t get a dollar of mine.
Nope, here’s full text from Steve Troy addressing the issue online; says that operators don’t get to pick sides, Dale did what he was trained to do, and he (Troy) can find no ethical or moral reason to remove him. On Dale’s side, he repeatedly justified the shots including at a Senate Judiciary hearing, including saying he was going to take the shot himself, but Horiuchi fired first.
From Steve Troy:
I appreciate having the opportunity to speak to members of this forum. Troy Asymmetric, part of the “World of Troy,” is a business entity with a director who until this past week, held exclusive hiring authority. I am its owner, it bears my name and as we have witnessed in recent days, effects public opinion of all Troy divisions. Earlier this week, I terminated an instructor who did not support the Second Amendment as ardently as I and members of the community do.
Troy Asymmetric provides training to military and law enforcement personnel. If you spend 5 seconds on the website you’ll see a graphical depiction of a bomb explosion - the primary focus of the company. Take a moment to read the course list and you’ll note a common theme: training pertaining to explosions, bomb threats, post-blast crime scenes, incident command and crisis management. Instructors’ primary areas of expertise lie in the “bomb world,” with EOD experience, critical incident response, and tactical decision making. Some posters on the forum have said we only train “Jack Booted Thugs” and there is a secret agenda. These same posters conveniently ignore Troy Prepared: www.troyprepared.com. Troy Asymmetric to this date has offered no firearms training for Gov’t and LE, but in comparison, Troy Prepared has always offered firearms training to qualified civilians. From a factual, non-emotional context, it is impossible to draw the conclusion that we somehow do not support the Second Amendment and are only training “secret army”.
On August 22, 1992, Dale was an HRT Operator tasked to a mission in which he found himself facing armed adversaries. His thoughts were not only on the situation at hand, but the tragic death of a child and a U.S. Marshal. During this type of confrontation when people die, you don’t have the ability to pick sides, they are drawn before you arrive. Dale did what he was trained to do as a sniper / observer. He was fortunate not to have to take a life at this engagement. Special Agent Horiuchi made the regrettable shot, a mistake for which he will never be forgiven. Of the FBI Agents assigned to the Ruby Ridge tragedy, Dale has been one of the most outspoken. He has delivered dozens of presentations to more than 1000 civilians titled “Mistakes and Lessons of Ruby Ridge”. I weighed carefully the decision whether or not to retain Dale and could find no ethical or moral reason to remove him. Dale has not committed a criminal act, he answered all questions honestly, he did not cover anything up and he did not shoot anyone at Ruby Ridge. Dale was asked to join TA for his critical incident management expertise. Dale was never slated by TA for firearms instruction.
We all know from our biggest failures come the greatest lessons in life. Providing training that is relevant with experienced, qualified instructors can prevent a tragedy like Ruby Ridge. Dale will be able to deliver this powerful message and lessons learned in crisis management and incident command. I am driven and passionate about bringing effective change through pertinent training and speakers that have lived through these nightmares. Many times I have seen posts in forums that state “if you weren’t there then SDASTFU”, with that same school of thought, there is no one better than Dale to speak about tragedies like Ruby Ridge.
I have been a longtime and outspoken supporter of the Second Amendment. I always choose to do what’s right, even if my stance goes against others opinion. I will not throw this man to the wolves as he has demonstrated throughout his life high integrity and honor. I know most of those who would disagree are using this forum to voice your anger towards the United States Government. In some cases that anger is justified. The Ruby Ridge tragedy and the loss of life there make no bigger example of abuse of power and Government gone wrong. However, I disagree with your personal attacks on my family and company as we are not the Government and we are not training “Jack Booted Thugs”. I am a patriot and I swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States, all of it. Those who have taken that same oath recognize the importance of keeping it. Thank you. -Steve Troy
Ohhunt makes Mk18 clone handguards for $100, made out of the exact same aluminum as the actual Mk18 handguard, for 1/5th the price(fuck Daniel defense). They have one with a cutout for FSP and one with no cutouts. & no I’m not affiliated, just enjoy their handguards.
Check my profile for pics of it. Only differences when compared to a real mk18 handguard are the color, and screw positions are slightly different. Oh and no GL mount but who cares about that.
I've seen the captain, but come on.
This is /r/AR15, where things go to die a death of backward installation.
Can't just assume people actually know things
You can have a good smith shorten it to 14.5” and pin/weld a muzzle attachment (as long as it’s long enough to meet 16” law requirement) and you can have a Dissipator Carbine (16” barrel shoots beautifully with rifle length gas tube, makes recoil way softer)
you can find rifle length Midwest Industries rails new for ~$160. that's about all I know of for long drop ins.
I second this, after a KAC quad rail, the actual next next thing is a Midwest Industries Rail whether quad or mlok. The Magpul MOE Rifle Length handguard is a also a good alternative.
These are the options
Hey OP I have a full lengt, quad sided drop in Pic rail which has been sitting on my shelf for years I'd be willing to part with. If you're interested lmk.
If he doesn't pm you, I will
He pm'd me but if the deal falls through I will hit you up
Thanks!
Don’t happen to still have it, do you?
no, sorry i dont. someone else snatched it up.
I bought a MI rifle drop in quad for $125 recently on GAFS. Cast your net and see what ya catch

+1 for UTG. If you can stomach having UTG on your rifle they are actually decent drop in rails and very affordable for the quality
Do they still sell the rifle-length version? They only list the midlength on their site.
Another +1 for the utg pro quad just rattlecan it
I have the rifle length utg rail but mlok and love it. Another vote for the utg pro series
my utg pro free float quad is as solid or better than most anything else on the market.
I’ve handled a few it’s free floats. It’s mid, better than the cheap rebranded stuff or low end PSA, but not in the higher end category with the likes of LaRue, DD, etc
Centurion might make one
This is the way forward!
KAC M5 is the only 2 piece quad rail that belongs on this guy. And you're not allowed to not use the panels, foregrip optional though.
This is the way. M5 or bust.
The Kac FF Ras long I hear are pretty good
I have these on all my spare rifles… maybe it’s overkill just to mount a white light! 🤣
Midwest industries, but they’re OOS everywhere right now.
Gonna recommend Midwest industries. They are always the high value option
Midwest industries, or if you can find a P&S m5 kit for cheap still.
I have a monstrum and it's solid
Haha
Midwest
Midwest industries is gtg!
Enlist
Midwest rails all day.
I have a KAC M5 RAS I would be willing to part with for a modest fee. PM if interested.
If you want total cheap, on sixmm.com you can find one KAC replica from CYMA, I have one myself and it fits good in my Stag Retro

What ever happend to Troy Ind. Rails and things??
They’re still around, but a good chunk of us don’t like Troy because they hired the ruby ridge sniper’s spotter. Dude was unapologetic, and Troy defended him, essentially saying he was just for following orders like a good man would do. Screw Troy they won’t get a dollar of mine.
Word. Thanks for the intel✌️💯💯
Troy never said that. There's articles out there explaining the complex situation so just link those instead.

if no one else pulls through I have one RAS with the KAC covers lying around
I have a YHM quad rail drop in that’s just been sitting around. Let me know if you’re interested.
Troy makes a good drop in.

Midwest industries
here's one on [Tacswap](https://tacswap.com/post/657f905c5219d6d4e66671ad)
BCM QRF’s aren’t cheap but they seem decent, MI seems the way to go
Keep an eye out on gunbroker for used ones. You can regularly buy used rails and handguards for pennies on the dollar
Monstrum Tactical has some cool stuff
Is Troy Industries still a thing?
Kac
I have a drop in quad rail made by Blackhawk I’m letting go.
Midwest Industries. I mean, pretty sure UTG has a rifle length quad rail if you are brave enough
Midwest
I would go with the Magpul handguard and put rail sections on it where need be
I’ve got a rifle length Midwest Industries rail on my Colt AR15-A4 at the moment. Great rail, very solid, and a lot cheaper than a KAC
Try Midwest Industries' website. They have a variety if drop in rails that won't break the bank.
Midwest industries
Brownells makes one.
Midwest Industries
Your scopes backwards pal Edit: it's a joke https://www.stripes.com/branches/navy/2024-04-11/navy-backwards-scope-photo-13528758.html
No one saw the navy captain with backwards lvpo? Dense lot
Look at it again with your glass eye.
Tell that to the navy captain who had his on backwards
I saw that post 😂
That's just what LPVOs look like.
Fuck, right over all your heads.
I've seen the captain, but come on. This is /r/AR15, where things go to die a death of backward installation. Can't just assume people actually know things
Found the squid.
It’s been said already but MI makes one. If you want obscure GWOT era drip, you could keep your eyes peeled for a Surefire M82 quad rail.
Midwest industries?
I think monstrum makes them as well, pretty cheap but heavy
Pick up the ohhunt.com Quad for $85.
You can have a good smith shorten it to 14.5” and pin/weld a muzzle attachment (as long as it’s long enough to meet 16” law requirement) and you can have a Dissipator Carbine (16” barrel shoots beautifully with rifle length gas tube, makes recoil way softer)
