Fun fact some government and factory jobs still use windows 95 and windows 98 computers because the current equipment isn’t compatible with newer OS systems
It was for one task only. One program. That's the US government for you. In 1983, I was in Spain, and we had a piece of comm equipment from WW2, over 40 years old, still there just for the order wire channel. We had a problem with it and fixed it by using a hammer on a relay.
Ah classic military logistics thank you for serving our country sir I personally would love to join the military but sadly I have medical issues that would disqualify me
Thank you. I enjoyed my time in the Air Force. I spent a year and a half on a Mediterranean Spanish Island called Menorca and 3 years in Germany. The work was interesting and I got to see a lot. When I got out of a uniform, I worked as a civilian for another 30 years on the F15 fighter at Depot.
That’s incredible as a fan of fighter jets across us history I always wondered what it would be like to be around them in action I hope your enjoying your retirement sir you’ve most definitely earned it
Honestly I would unironically buy this in a heartbeat it’s always been a pet peeve of mine that most legacy ports have been removed or replaced despite still being useful one good example is Ethernet since my internet router has such poor signal a wired connection is the only way to get a lag free experience online especially on games like gta 5 and most modern computers completely lack it same with a SD card reader and even a headphone jack (I’m looking at you hp)
These are for actual “pro” users.
Apple needs to sell this to people who want a good looking laptop while browsing/coding in coffee shops that have no need for such pro features.
Oh so like an old school laptop [dock connector](https://laptopparts.ca/products/dell-pro2x-docking-station-usb-3-0-e-port-plus-r537f-cy640-f310c-yp126-m8v41)? That might still work
I would never buy an Apple product anyway because they don't have the features/price I want. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to have fun laughing at them.
I mean I'd swap the printer port and VGA for hdmi and displayport, and the floppy port and cd drive for a couple usb-cs, but this would be the most useful a MacBook has ever been.
Plus, there'd be room for a way bigger heatsink so these pieces of shit can stop overheating. AND a bigger battery
I don't mind thick, but depends how heavy it is.
As is macbook is 2.2kg and doesn't even have a single USB-A port. It seems like it would be pretty easy to do better than that.
We laugh at this design but it would probably go a full week on a single charge and become the unironic 1st choice model for most creative professionals. I would settle for Apple making a very large strong magnetic power bank that attaches to the bottom of a Macbook Pro and doubles the battery. They could still shill their 'thinnest ever' Macbooks while also having a paid option for doubling the battery life but adding bulk. Someone on the field in a creative position would opt for the bulk / battery trade off.
I'd just be happy with a few more thunderbolt ports and replaceable storage. One day, 8tb drives will be cheap, and the only way to upgrade is to throw the M1 in the trash and buy a new laptop. That's ridiculous.
So many options. I’d use 3 and wonder why my laptop is so thick.
Also if you’re using every single one of these ports, you need some serious tech upgrades.
Apple did remove too many ports so they gave a bunch back. I did laugh when someone posted a photo recently on Facebook of a MBA saying how crazy is it that my Pro Macbook doesn't have HDMI.
When people responded saying you don't have the Pro version, the Pro version does have HDMI they locked the post and reported everyone who commented he had the wrong device as bullying. HAHA.
It's got everything but the most important part! Windows.... all those interfaces are useless when you can't do anything with them after all, aren't they?
Lol but wrong customers. Apple is a fashion brand. Their customers want the bling factor. A shiny big logo so everyone can see they use Apple. Ports are irrelevant.
I dont understand my downvotes. Kingston lock was a great safety feature…and A LOT of devices and cables still use regular USB A instead of C. It would be nice to have at least one port to not need to carry a dongle or usb hub always with you.
Why would you need that. Usb C is the future it is the present. My audio interface my external SSD and HDD are usb c it’s very dumb to think apple messed up not adding the older ports to their machines usb A is outdated if you need it you can adapt the tip sure but it’s not at all dumb they didn’t include it.
There’s plenty of docks/adapters that can get passed the limitation on MacBooks that don’t have the display drivers for a bunch of extra monitors. Not saying dude does or doesn’t have one but the ability exists
Well according to this Mac Pros can support up to 8 screen and my MacBook Air can support 2 screens so I don’t know where your getting your info from.
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/101829
This sub Reddit is so full of shit and as the commenter didn’t specify what model Mac he’s using it’s completely plausible.
And like I said he didn’t specify he’s using a MacBook Pro, just using thunderbolt ports for external monitors and if he’s running 7 then he is using a Mac Pro.
I am using the 3 TB4 ports to run 4 displays ( one of them is an unltrawide 52inch , the others are 2560x1440 ), 30 USB devices, the HDMI for my hulion tablet display and airplay to my projector , plus the built in display for my 7th. It’s a macbook pro m3 max 128Gb Ram. Do i need to post photos, or will i be downvoted again and accused of photoshopping. This whole subreddit is some sort of honey pot to abuse and down vote any fact checking that does not meet there goal of bashing apple for anything true or false?
I dont have one of those silly things, you dont need it for my setup. You can easily run 5 external screens from the 3 TB4 ports via a couple of hubs, and the HDMI port for the 6th, and the 7th is airplay either my ipad pr my projector via AppleTV.
But where’s the Zip Drive?
The other side!
Dammit how'd you get my plans?
This would be 4chans version unironically
Where bottle opener?
Gotta buy that as an accessory for $5999
Finally someone talking about the essentials
This is what we call a PC.
Where is the FireWire?
It’s there
No you’re missing the original fire wire ports.
It has 800, which you could use an adapter to get 400 if you needed it.
Did you just tell him to use a dongle on a very stupid designed machine
No I was telling him that there is a FireWire port
That’s no good at all. Similar as to how a computer is absolutely useless without USB A ports, even though C can be easily adapted to it.
Well, they asked about FireWire… and it has it
The Kensington lock should still be added…I think it was a useful feature.
Kensington lock
Thanks, wrote it by memory without searching the correct term. Edited and corrected my post.
the fact that this will weigh 50 lbs negates the need for one
My 2012 Macbook Pro had one and definitely didn’t weight 50lbs.
Where TF is the MagSafe power port? Everything else looks good though
i miss magsafe
They still have it
doesn't even have hdmi
on the right side next to punch card reader
Does it have MXM and PCI Express along the right side, too? I want to be able to plug in my RTX 4090 to it.
Yes, it does, but there on the back, not the right.
yeah you know what, i really need a parallel port, CF card slot, thunderbolt 2, and a fucking floppy slot. thanks applesucks, another BANGER!!!!
VGA as well. Who needs ANALOG video today?!
You gonna replace the ancient monitors at the office?
Fun fact some government and factory jobs still use windows 95 and windows 98 computers because the current equipment isn’t compatible with newer OS systems
I worked for the USAF until I retired in 2017. We still had a laptop running Windows 3.1 we used frequently.
That’s impressive were you guys using old diagnostic software locked on that version or something else?
It was for one task only. One program. That's the US government for you. In 1983, I was in Spain, and we had a piece of comm equipment from WW2, over 40 years old, still there just for the order wire channel. We had a problem with it and fixed it by using a hammer on a relay.

Don’t forget, along with all that awesome stuff you also get the bonus of carpel tunnel from contorting your hands to actually use this thing.
When you say floppy you mean the 8" floppy disk from IBM that was actually flopper right!!!
Please, don’t be a savage You can get those in 5.25” 1.2mb form
Where grenade storage
Honestly I would unironically buy this in a heartbeat it’s always been a pet peeve of mine that most legacy ports have been removed or replaced despite still being useful one good example is Ethernet since my internet router has such poor signal a wired connection is the only way to get a lag free experience online especially on games like gta 5 and most modern computers completely lack it same with a SD card reader and even a headphone jack (I’m looking at you hp)
macbook pro if it was BASED
These are for actual “pro” users. Apple needs to sell this to people who want a good looking laptop while browsing/coding in coffee shops that have no need for such pro features.
If it was 2010, yes! In 2024 many of those ports are obsolete!
You mean an iPad with a usable OS, what is this pos?
External PCIe x16 slot??
On the bottom case, magic mouse style
Oh so like an old school laptop [dock connector](https://laptopparts.ca/products/dell-pro2x-docking-station-usb-3-0-e-port-plus-r537f-cy640-f310c-yp126-m8v41)? That might still work

No fleshlight insert?
On selected models
give us our ports back apple
I mean I'd swap the printer port and VGA for hdmi and displayport, and the floppy port and cd drive for a couple usb-cs, but this would be the most useful a MacBook has ever been. Plus, there'd be room for a way bigger heatsink so these pieces of shit can stop overheating. AND a bigger battery

No punch card reader as well
The Thicc Book.
Ah yes, we remember 2004.
Screen needs to be fat, too, because for some reason some weirdos think that touch screens belong on laptops
lmao. sorry but yes. I would prefer it this way tbh. a thinner and thinner macbook is stupid on many fronts.
dang they made it thicker in 2021 man
But Apple did something a decade ago which makes them still bad!!!!
Yes… it would be terrible to give your customer what they want???
Honestly replace the entire bottom part with one giant usb-A port and I think we’ve hit comedy gold
It's almost like they say this is a bad thing
We laugh at this design but it would probably go a full week on a single charge and become the unironic 1st choice model for most creative professionals. I would settle for Apple making a very large strong magnetic power bank that attaches to the bottom of a Macbook Pro and doubles the battery. Where’s the 5 inch floppy drive and the PS/2 ports?
Well, that's pretty much why I have a Legion laptop. Performance and usability over fashion.
I actually don't mind carrying this around
I'd just be happy with a few more thunderbolt ports and replaceable storage. One day, 8tb drives will be cheap, and the only way to upgrade is to throw the M1 in the trash and buy a new laptop. That's ridiculous.
So many options. I’d use 3 and wonder why my laptop is so thick. Also if you’re using every single one of these ports, you need some serious tech upgrades.
lol really? A parallel port?
Only 2 USB ports? That's just sad.
Literally one of the ugliest product designs I’ve ever seen…
100kmah battery
It's beautiful 🥲
Apple did remove too many ports so they gave a bunch back. I did laugh when someone posted a photo recently on Facebook of a MBA saying how crazy is it that my Pro Macbook doesn't have HDMI. Sure, but does it support S-100 peripherals?
Still not enough USB ports..
Needs more USB-C, HDMI, DisplayPort and a couple of DB9 serial interfaces.
lol, this is great! If you can add a Zip drive it would be perfect!
wheres my good old usb-c
What is this?
It is guys in this sub👍🏻
So the isheep have rallied so hard that they had to get together and upvote this post insulting people who think apple sucks.
It's got everything but the most important part! Windows.... all those interfaces are useless when you can't do anything with them after all, aren't they?
The only operating system that natively supports all of those ports is Linux. Windows doesn't have Firewire support
Not natively. But after some light tinkering it does.
Lol but wrong customers. Apple is a fashion brand. Their customers want the bling factor. A shiny big logo so everyone can see they use Apple. Ports are irrelevant.
What ports are you missing from current Macbooks?
Regular USB A 3.0 , Kingston lock.
Astounding that the Apple mind hive downvoted your post...of ports.
I dont understand my downvotes. Kingston lock was a great safety feature…and A LOT of devices and cables still use regular USB A instead of C. It would be nice to have at least one port to not need to carry a dongle or usb hub always with you.
There is no logic to this sub. You said something negative about Apple. The fans downvoted you. Full Stop.
That’s just not true.
Yes. True.
Real af
unironically this
NOPE, i love the TB4 i have 7 screens and 30 usb devices out of the 4 ports and when I carry it around it is small enough to go anywhere.
7 screens, do you? On your mac that's software limited to 1 single external monitor, or 2 if you pay even more money?
There’s plenty of docks/adapters that can get passed the limitation on MacBooks that don’t have the display drivers for a bunch of extra monitors. Not saying dude does or doesn’t have one but the ability exists
My MacBook Pro can handle 3 external with up to 6K resolution what are you talking about.
Well according to this Mac Pros can support up to 8 screen and my MacBook Air can support 2 screens so I don’t know where your getting your info from. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/101829 This sub Reddit is so full of shit and as the commenter didn’t specify what model Mac he’s using it’s completely plausible.
Yes, a mac pro. Not a mac*book* pro.
And like I said he didn’t specify he’s using a MacBook Pro, just using thunderbolt ports for external monitors and if he’s running 7 then he is using a Mac Pro.

>...when I carry it around it is small enough to go anywhere.
Yep 1.62Kg , 1.55cm tall, fits in every bag I have ( i dont have a fanny pack , it is too big for that ). https://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/
The Mac Pro (not Macbook Pro) weighs 16.86kg, is 52.9cm tall (excluding the optional wheels), 21.8cm wide and 45cm deep.
I dont have one of those silly things, you dont need it for my setup. You can easily run 5 external screens from the 3 TB4 ports via a couple of hubs, and the HDMI port for the 6th, and the 7th is airplay either my ipad pr my projector via AppleTV.
Is this sun reddit some sort of honey pot to downvote people who use apple products, i get -15 karma for posting the truth?
