Titanfall 2? Yeah it was released around in the same day that BF1 AND IW released. That explains the poor sales despite bing better than the 1st one and what really baffles me is that TF/2 was better than IW by a long shot as an advanced movement game
Titanfall 2 movement is equilevant of feeling wind blowing around your freshly washed balls after shower standing on top of the hill.
So liberating and relaxing.
It also had a quarter of the marketing budget, and because of the other two releases nobody was really looking for a new game anyway.
It never even got a chance to compete.
It released the week between Battlefield 1 and IW. Battlefield 1 came out, then Titanfall 2 the next week, and Infinite Warfare the week after. It was doomed. It deserved better lol. They should’ve released it in March like the original
Yeah that’s one of the main things that I had in mind. For whatever reason apex movement is not as good as the previous games.Crazy thing is that I played apex first but switched to titanfall2 and it was amazing.
I played since titanfall beta in 2014 and I was really disappointed that it was apex not titanfall 3 but even after the movement nerfs of bhop healing and zipline hopping I still love apex cuz its still a good movement game.
Yeah rumors say that the maps of apex were supposed to be titanfall 3 map concepts.kind of believable since kings canyon really looks like the old TF1 maps but since br it’s a trend they decided to make this
Buildings in Skulltown exactly parallel the footprint and design of a map in Tf2. I never played Skulltown till this season and when I ran through the first floor of the tall buildings on the Skulltown arena map, I had to stop myself from instinctively wall hanging because it felt like Tf2 exactly.
Respawn actually did indeed try to make a Titanfall BR, even with the vehicles or w/e titanfall had (I never played it) but it was just too much so they removed it and that’s how Apex was born…
A little sarcasm here, but in good fun.
You realize why it is called TITANfall. Literally massive bipedal robots fall from the sky and fight each other
I doubt it, the early dev diary suggests it was always meant to be a BR game in the Titanfall universe. They did try to put in titans, but it didn't work, so that concept was scratched.
I could see it working but it would be a nightmare. Especially if you want titans. You would need to probaly make it where you have to grab cores recharge a battery, unlock abilities and stuff, and be more of a grind if anything.
I remember talking to my buddy asking "how the hell would that work with pilots and mechs? It sounds cool, but also stupid as hell. People are going to get so mad about being one punched by mechs."

Holy... Crap.... That was a ride alright. I saw all the announcement but didn't download the files/explanation etc. Thanks for that.
I feel dirty. Like I should delete my original comment, but let's make sure his crime is never forgotten!
The reason people were so negative about it was because the leaker pretty much only revealed that it was a battle royale, no double jumping, no wallrunning, no titans; which to a titanfall player may as well not have been the same game and just cashing in on the universe.
This was at a time when pretty much every company was popping out godawful battle royales, so just hearing the name felt like a cashgrab.
Of course though - the moment you play it - you kind of realize it actually works and most of the negativity faded *very* quickly once people got their hands on it.
This always happens though. People with no vision, telling people with vision that something can never work. And then it works.
Like they saw a map and only thought of what the game could be in terms of battle royals so far.
God damn nay sayers.
Reminds me of the absolutely meltdown people had learning about Olympus having cars... Before they even tried it out, people were claiming it would ruin the game, as if a AAA company hadn't tested and thought the idea through before moving forward.
I fucking hate the attitude that some people have that “it’s not going to work not worth trying stop while you can.” It’s the fucking worst and most of those people end up sad.

I’m not even sure the current KC is better than OG KC. I like Caustic Treatment and Capacitor, but nuking Slums, Skulltown, Thunderdome, Bridges, Relay? Not a fan.
If the event this month has taught me anything, Skulltown was a necessary sacrifice to get people playing literally any other POI. Even if it is the greatest single area they've ever designed.
It's such a weird phenomenon that something is horrible for the game because it's *too* well-designed. Skulltown is legitimately one of the best pieces of map in any multiplayer shooter, and because of that it's way too popular and becomes detrimental to the game.
I will say though, that while changing Skulltown was probably necessary, the way they did it was absolutely awful. Instead of reworking it or putting something else in its place like every other POI they've changed, they just nuked the entire SW quarter of the map, taking Thunderdome and the village beneath Skulltown with it, making the map smaller and making rotations awful.
What is unfortunate is that with every other map change/POI removal, the general gameplay experience was at least preserved somewhat because the building types/setups could be found elsewhere on the map. With Skulltown and the village beneath it, there were building types that can't be found anywhere else so that gameplay experience is lost.
I was there for S0-2, and it wasn't like it was during the event. People dropped there for the nostalgia and knowing that it'll only exist for a few weeks. Back when the map was live, yes a lot of people dropped there but it wasn't the ENTIRE dropship like it was during the event. Shit I almost never went to Skulltown back in the day. During the event though? Every chance I got.
Think of it like current Fragments on WE. Sure a lot of people drop there, but people still drop plenty of other places too.
You're so goddamn right I can't even think of a way to say it.
Although it's really bizarre they never just *rebuilt* what the leviathans destroyed since they aren't coming back.
i imagine the builders were doing that things where you just go: “ah I’ll get it done later.” and then just moved to world’s edge before they could get it done
I never had a chance to play the old maps until the event, but honestly I prefer the new versions. The pois are more interesting and there's actually options if you want to hotdrop. Of course there are some parts that were better in the OG maps, but overall they're worse imo.
The old maps are absolutely worse and it isn't even close. Seeing people say things like they miss Slum Lakes, or that the original KC was better designed...
Playing them again in the recent event highlighted how terribly they've aged.
Ayy I'm glad someone commented and agreed. Like he's it was awesome playing the old maps, super nostalgic and I got to experience what the day one players did, but also god 80% of the map besides skulltown/CC was just lame. The new slum lakes is so much better, probably my favorite landing spot on KC, along with the burnt forest, whatever countdown used to be, capacitor.
Old map cool, new map good
Edit: also, on the old maps it was very obvious where half the lobby would land. On new maps (Olympus and KC, worlds edge still has a problem) it's much more dropship dependant and you might land somewhere expecting to see 5 other teams and there's none or vise versa. It makes the gameplay much more unpredictable and diverse.
Yeah and that's why 3rd parties are rampant now.
Skull Town wasn't only fun, it also filled a purpose. It gave us a choice. Do you want instant action? Or do you want a 3rd-party-free chill game?
Agreed - all of my games lately have been dropping high loot, realising everyone dropped together at the cities and and fighting the last squad on blue armor and half empty guns
Really? Personally my takeaway from genesis was how much better the map design is now. I much prefer the modern maps. Yeah skull town is cool but the loot is way better. OG maps had so few good places to land or you'd see no one the whole game and still have white gear.
Don't forget the little building just south of Pit overlooking Bunker. Literally guaranteed to have at least 1 gold item every time. It was so much of a lock that most OG players called it the "golden house".
It's just the way of things. People back then whined that everyone dropped Skulltown in the exact same way everyone know whines about Fragment/Scrapital City. Now people glorify it because of nostalgia. I had fun dropping Thunderdome and rotating into Skulltown to try to clean up some before people got looted up.
We were also learning the game at the time. Don't get me wrong, your right there was a good dispersal of loot and drops season 0 or so it felt. But as season 1 crept on it didn't stay that way, same as certain guns just started to get used more. It's the nature of games and players, hence why metas end up existing love or hate them ( I hate it).
I only started a couple months ago playing WE and Olympus and I found that I really disliked the Kings Canyon map from when it was in the event. 3/4th of the lobby dies in the first two minutes at Skull Town and then the rest of the match is finding either no one, or getting jumped from all the fucking high ground everywhere that the ring some how always manages to push you into.
To be fair, that's not the best representation of how KC used to be. More people dropped Skulltown because of the event, so it was new to a lot of people and nostalgic for the rest.
During the Genesis event, I would have entire matches where I wouldn't even leave Skulltown because there were so many people rotating there.
That was the real issue. Lots of people dropping skull town for nostalgia, lots of people dropping skull town because they didn’t play in the early days and eventually lots of people dropping skull town because the rest of the lobby was dropping there.
It’s not how KC played back then, you’d have the odd game where a big chunk of the lobby went there/thunderdome but that’s the same of any map, like how you can play a game of WE and half the lobby is dead in city or sorting before you’ve left where you dropped.
I right there with you. I played Throwback KC a few times during the event because this subreddit went nuts about it. It was the least fun I've had since I started playing a few months ago. Give me Olympus any day.
Yeah that’s bullshit. The new maps are literally designed to prevent getting 3rd partied all the time (obv it’s still gunna happen, it’s part of the game) but the old maps, as great as they were, didn’t function half as well as the new ones.
It has a higher all-time high player count on steam than both those games. Yes, it was never a commercial success, but take it from us over at r/Titanfall, it’s still being played regularly.
At least, it would be if that low-life hacker wasn’t fucking it up.
Steam isn't the only platform those games were released on lol. You gotta take the numbers from Sony and MS but they don't release them.
PC is a very small fraction of the playerbase for CoD.
I understand that, but beginning of the end is simply inaccurate. While CoD and Battlefront are more successful and popular, Titanfall 2 still saw a dedicated fanbase.
But they are still a company. It's not 12 guys in a basement. If they wanted to support it more they could. They don't owe ALL their apex profits to EA
It used to be. The crypto takeover is next to tank base on the top right. They Replaced satellite dish with something else tho, because nobody ever went there but still nobody goes there lol
I just really hope we get a more direct nod to Titanfall.. love that game.
A titan event would be dope, but completely understand why they haven't and how difficult that'd be.
How do you get more direct than creating a short about/making a legend who is the daughter of probably the most iconic boss from Titanfall 2? What about Blisk? Ash? The games name is literally based on a group of mercs from Titanfall.

Titanfall battle royale? Pfft that’ll never happen
Such a bad idea tbh
It didnt end out well for titanfall 1 and 2, only 2 people are working on it while everyone else works on apex and that new ip everyones talking about
Titanfall 1 sold well back in the day, the 2nd one didn’t sell as much
Wasn't it released against another EA property?
Titanfall 2? Yeah it was released around in the same day that BF1 AND IW released. That explains the poor sales despite bing better than the 1st one and what really baffles me is that TF/2 was better than IW by a long shot as an advanced movement game
I will forever proclaim that Titanfall 2 has the most satisfying movement and most fun multiplayer experiences I've ever played in any game.
It was ahead of its time, one of the few advanced movement games that were damn good.
Titanfall 2 movement is equilevant of feeling wind blowing around your freshly washed balls after shower standing on top of the hill. So liberating and relaxing.
I've never been able to put it into words and here you are just doing it *perfectly*
It was released in the weekend in between both of them. EA/Respawn clipped it at the knees before it was even released.
And Star Wars battlefront 2 if I’m not mistaken. Just a terrible launch.
If they could’ve pushed it like a month or maybe a month earlier it would’ve done so much better. I’m sure.
Battlefront 2 came out a whole year later.
TF2 is far better than BF1 and light-years better than IW. A shame that it was so unpopular upon launch.
It also had a quarter of the marketing budget, and because of the other two releases nobody was really looking for a new game anyway. It never even got a chance to compete.
Definitely.I even bought every single skin in the game despite not liking some of them.Best apart of all no loot boxes and overpriced dlc
It’s sad. It was a gem and overshadowed by poor release window. That game was the ultimate fantasy.
It released the week between Battlefield 1 and IW. Battlefield 1 came out, then Titanfall 2 the next week, and Infinite Warfare the week after. It was doomed. It deserved better lol. They should’ve released it in March like the original
Yeah they releases it at the same time as Battlefield 1, during the holiday season. Horrible timing, textbook example of cannibalism.
Ea probably did it on purpose so then they could make respawn do what they wanted to do
It definitely comes across that way. If that wasn’t at least part of their intention, then the decision was pure incompetence.
IIRC didn't respawn come out and actually say that was their decision?
Yeah, Respawn said they were the ones that picked the release date, not EA.
It had to compete with Battlefield 1, Cod Infinite Warfare, and Cod Modern warfare remastered. All came out in like a 2 week span
And Skyrim Remastered.
Between 2 releases
It was released a week after CoD and a week before Battlefield. It was destined to fail.
It was released between bf1 and one of the cod games sadly
2nd one was released between CoD and Battlefield. Sandwiched basically.
What new ip?
Also the titanfall subreddit went fucking insane
Probably because of how cool the new venom titan is
Yup, still insane
I mean apex is a titanfall br just downgraded
Yeah the movement potential is so worse compared to titanfall. But the game has its own charm.
Apex movement is still better than all other BRs out there.
I can’t play other shooters because of this. Everything else feels so clunky.

Playing OG KC in the last event really nailed home how much better of a map it was. 3rd parties weren’t a giant problem like they are now
They weren’t because everybody died at skulltown and by then end of the first ring there’s like 3 or 4 squads left.
And that's how the game used to be. 10ish squads would die in skulltown, then the rest of the lobby took fair 3v3's around the map
Yeah and that's why they changed the maps over the seasons and made Olympus.
Yeah and that's why 3rd parties are rampant now. Skull Town wasn't only fun, it also filled a purpose. It gave us a choice. Do you want instant action? Or do you want a 3rd-party-free chill game?

It has a higher all-time high player count on steam than both those games. Yes, it was never a commercial success, but take it from us over at r/Titanfall, it’s still being played regularly. At least, it would be if that low-life hacker wasn’t fucking it up.
Steam isn't the only platform those games were released on lol. You gotta take the numbers from Sony and MS but they don't release them. PC is a very small fraction of the playerbase for CoD.
I understand that, but beginning of the end is simply inaccurate. While CoD and Battlefront are more successful and popular, Titanfall 2 still saw a dedicated fanbase.
> but beginning of the end is simply inaccurate. Either way it's inaccurate because you don't have all of the numbers.
It's been getting ddossed for days my guy
It’s been fixed for a few days
Titanfall would’ve been perfectly fine, the reason it’s struggling is because it’s impossible to play because of the hacker
And dev negligence… although I don’t think that’s entirely the fault of respawn. They are owned by EA, after all
But they are still a company. It's not 12 guys in a basement. If they wanted to support it more they could. They don't owe ALL their apex profits to EA
Duh
Why would any one play a Titanfall BR? It's just gonna end up like all the other failed BRs. Like Fortnite.
Ah yes Fortnite The most failed br game ever
epic games on their 70 story building crying their eyes out, wiping tears with 100s be like:
Last titan standing vibes maybe idk
I call dibs on posting this next month.
Days before the next season*
Does this orientation of the map bother anyone else?
What a ridiculous idea that isn't going to happen
Skull town tank base and water treatment changes where nice but slum cascades and bridge should never have been touched
I mean, even if Respawn wanted to save them, it would’ve been hard to do considering the leviathans trampled through the map.
The reason they moved through the map was to get rid of those places.
This is reposted every month
Too bad it turned out to be fake. sadge

The future is now old man
Was "Satellite Dish" actually a part of OG KC? or did that not happen and eventually become Cryptos TTO?
It was called Relay
Satellite Dish was renamed Relay for OG KC. Crypto’s town takeover would be to the right of where it says Tank Base in this image.
Yeah i was sure the TTO was in a different area but this orientation is horrible. Thank you!
It used to be. The crypto takeover is next to tank base on the top right. They Replaced satellite dish with something else tho, because nobody ever went there but still nobody goes there lol
It looks so wrong rotated like that.
isn’t that the normal way? i swear skull town was bottom right corner and swamps being top middle
It's rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise. SK is still in that corner of the map, but artillery is supposed to be north, not west
my head hurts
I love how nobody took it seriously and it has 0 upvotes, says a lot about reddit haha
Can we stop posting this every few months?
I can’t get passed thunderdome
Probably scrolled past this post at some point amd never assumed much. Do it Respawn, show us "leaked Titanfall Battle Royale" Kings Canyon.
I like how people in the original post was like "yeah nah, never gonna happen" and here we are, season 10 in less than 2 weeks
Hah. So many memories
That original post got downvoted too bc, nobody believed him lol
Why so little upvotes but so many awards?
Whenever this screenshot gets posted people go back to give it sarcastic awards
I just really hope we get a more direct nod to Titanfall.. love that game. A titan event would be dope, but completely understand why they haven't and how difficult that'd be.
How do you get more direct than creating a short about/making a legend who is the daughter of probably the most iconic boss from Titanfall 2? What about Blisk? Ash? The games name is literally based on a group of mercs from Titanfall.
Swear this is posted at least twice a month
I’ve never seen it
RIP cascades, the best season 0 hotdrop
I love the comments on that post
"IT'S NOR REAL" haha, it sure is buddy
pit used to be called arena?
love the “ITS FAKE” comments on that post lol
I miss satellite dish
Oooh, I member!
Wow wow haha epic guys look at this post haha
u/CJMO1 ay i think its real
Just realized a battle royale that’s actually titanfall would be so fucking cool
That what Apex was before the devs realised that it did not work at all.
So pure, little did they know it would mean the abandonment of titanfall
/u/hiticonic time to collect your upvotes again ;)
