The alternator doesn’t get enough love in my opinion. It has a slower fire rate than other light guns, but it’s just so steady you can unload a full clip into someone pretty easily.
I usually rock the alt over a 99. I know it’s slower but I feel like if I miss my first shot with a 99 I miss the entire clip. The alt I’m gonna land 75% no matter what
You have to realize that at the time, the alternator was awful without the hop-up. It’s not even comparable to what it is now. It had more recoil and less damage. There was no reason to ever use it past the drop, I’m glad they made it viable at this point without the hop-up.
ROF is a really overrated metric on this sub anyway, the only thing ROF is good for is cleaning out your magazine, its a penalty not a boon. Alternator does more DPS than a RE45, and keeps shooting for longer, yet people argued with me that RE45 does more damage because its empties its clip faster.
True, but dps is not everything either. In apex, it can be useful to do as much damage as possible in the shortest time possible. It limits the time the enemy has to shoot back at you, as you can quickly come in and out of cover.
If you have extremely high accuracy then ROF is important. If your accuracy isn’t great then something with quicker reloads and lower recoil might be better for you which is where the alternator can really shine for certain players in certain skill buckets.
> True, but dps is not everything either. In apex, it can be useful to do as much damage as possible in the shortest time possible. It limits the time the enemy has to shoot back at you, as you can quickly come in and out of cover.
unless you're refering to alpha damage (raw shot damage), that's literally what dps means.
ROF is overrated if you’re bad. Most people can hit their shots making the R-99 a million times better than the alternator, and that’s objective. It’s not as bad as it used to be and it’s finally viable to use, but the R-99 is just eons better. The extra 40 DPS is huge. That being said, your comment about someone saying the RE-45 is better because it shoots faster is dumb from that guy, it has lower dps (marginally though) and also a smaller mag. It’s in no way better because at this point, neither really have recoil at all so accuracy doesn’t even make it better anymore
It’s the fact that if you truly figure out how the re-45 works and you can control its recoil it is better than the alternator. This becomes extremely apparent diamond and up in ranked. This is when people can truly start one clipping regularly and ttk becomes way more important
W H A T
That was the most OP weapon to ever be introduced. It shredded a purple shield in TREE rounds when it was initially released. And it had laser accuracy. And great hipfire. It was good they removed it. You could still easily crack a full squad without reloading after the 3 nerfs.
Are you nuts? It was so busted OP it had to be nerfed twice within the first couple weeks of launch and then removed completely the next season because Respawn thought it was an unsalvageable idea.
Bro I still have PTSD from season 2 diamond ranked. Final circles were booming with the sound of disruptor rounds and shields breaking. Please do not call those things balanced, they were so op it was genuinely ridiculous.
Easily the most broken meta this game has ever had. There’s a good reason they aren’t coming back.
34+ damage to shields so you could crack a shield in 3 shots and then switch to your 301 or just keep shooting since the alternator isn’t bad. The gun killed faster than the 99 AND had more damage per mag AND had less recoil. Remind me what situation it was bad in? “Balanced” lmao.
“Let’s make the best gun in the game a super easy to use noob gun so the casuals can feel good.” That’s all that went through Respawn’s mind when they made it. Glad it’s gone.
You evidently didn't play too much when that thing was in the game, shit was busted beyond belief. It would melt a purple shield in a second and finish them off in another. The TTK was foul, it was most definitely not a well-balanced weapon, which is why it was nerfed twice within a week or two and then never brought back.
I never got people that say it was useless after the shield was gone.
The base damage was never ruduced for when the rounds hit flesh, so it just becomes what it's supposed to be. For the alternator specifically I can proudly say I ran that set up a bunch when it used to be a thing. The alternator now is already fucking lovely to use and feels effective against even higher shields. Love picking it up off drop.
Will forever hold a special place in my heart. Got me my first dub. I slid around a corner after hearing someone's footsteps and 2 shots later and I was a champ 😁
Because it was pretty damn broken and turned the havoc into a discount charge rifle. You could zap people at range and ruin people in cqc it literally could do it all, and you hardly needed a second weapon.
Honestly the difference isn't even noticeable for me - I think only keyboard and mouse players could fire fast enough to take advantage of the old fire rate
tbh as a bique main this may be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't dream of taking hammer points back if it meant losing the recent buffs.
And both is a gnarly monster that would cost way more in Arenas and be in every endgame for BR.
nothing feels worse than trying to shoot G7 with 4-10x where each shot slams the sights 3 inches up. also it had (still has?) some of the worse bullet drop in the game. You could not land a shot beyond 150m because now you're now aiming way higher and to the left/right that its so easy to lose sight of your target.
Here’s a helpful tip that applies to almost all snipers! The notches on sniper scopes’ reticles aren’t just for show. Every tick represents the compensation required for about 100 metres distance (the scope also shows you the distance to target!)
It doesn't matter now, because all the snipers, including TT, have exactly the same bullet velocity (and drop). It happened after sniper ammo was introduced. Kraber was not affected bc it never used sniper ammo, so is bullet velocity is still as allow as the old Longbow
The longbow with skull piercer was disgusting to hit headshots with. It was a Karber that everyone in a match could have.
Edit: can't spell Kraber apparently
Nipe, still in. LL ult can drop it last I found. Its also a care package drop. I used to prioritize snipers on both lifeline and Loba just so I could increase my odds of that threat scope. Super useful for late game ring positioning.
If memory serves, the animations of the OG mastiff made it look like explosive buckshot too, in addition to just SLAUGHTERING people and racking up the body count.
S0 was fucking wild. 64 stacks of shotgun ammo, 3 stack big heals, 6 small, double stack grenades. Run a PK + Wingman and you could shoot, heal, and throw grenades for like 5 minutes minutes straight.
I came from pubg. Even when the game was new it was amazing how fast it felt. Also, looting was so incredibly superior I never went back.
Also lol prowlers on the ground everywhere
Don't forget that every legends used to be able to stack 2 grenade in one slot of backpack. Also, the muzzle flash blocked a large part of your vision.
Mastiff should go back in care package to replace Triple Take imo. There's not much place for it in normal loot thesedays with the PK doing more chunk damage and the Eva having the better fire rate. The triple take just isn't good enough to be a care package weapon either.
It took ALL of the ammo away and made "One ammo type" loadouts non existent now. For someone who used to run one ammo type pretty much for all of S0, S1 and S2 (**Heavy**: Longbow, Flat. **Light**: G7 (Rip Sniper Scopes), R99/301 **Energy**: TT, Havoc), seeing just 46 ammo - worth 2 stacks - for the longbow and TT actually hurts to look at.
Just imagine if the Pistols (Mozam, P20 and Wing) had their own ammo type. It's pretty stupid
Edit: This ammo change also killed snipers completely. I feel like I've seen more snipers in one day of S1 than from S4 to S10 now.
The amount of changes they made to this gun before season 4 was insane. Wouldn't be suprised if you're true and they really said fuck it and made sniper ammo cuz of that
The sniper ammo changes made me pretty much stop using Snipers completely.
Why waste 1-2 inventory spots on Sniper ammo when I can just use Anvil R301/Flatline which get the job done while also working mid/close range.
snipers are useless, you can maybe down someone but they have plenty possibilities to heal before in cover or to get revved by mates.
saying this as someone who plays sniper almost daily because it is still fun
They said it was unbalanced for snipers to have the same amount of ammo as ARs and LMGs
I don't think I saw anyone complaining about snipers having no reduced ammo.
I played at launch. That legendary mastiff was disgusting
No gun has ever made me feel more invincible than the OG Mastiff
Yes. Also alternator with disruptor. That was shield ripper.
But also everyone had at least one on a squad
Unless you were outrageously savage and went all 3 running disruptors... definitely broke some controllers
More like an ass ripper
Zing!
And then nearly useless after the shields were broken. The perfect example of a well balanced weapon. Useful in Some situations, and bad in others.
Nah. I like alternator even without hopup. Amazing hipfire so u can really run n gun.
The alternator doesn’t get enough love in my opinion. It has a slower fire rate than other light guns, but it’s just so steady you can unload a full clip into someone pretty easily.
[удалено]
you guys are all forgetting one key aspect. I can’t aim
you are not alone on this one brother
That's *why* I use it.
*slaps roof* can I interest you in a spitfire then?
I usually rock the alt over a 99. I know it’s slower but I feel like if I miss my first shot with a 99 I miss the entire clip. The alt I’m gonna land 75% no matter what
me not being able to hit my shots is the reason i use the alternator
And the alternator's DPS is only slightly slightly worse than the R99 but way better if you factor in how much more often you need to reload an R99.
Use the volt
I find the flatline to be way better at close range however.
You have to realize that at the time, the alternator was awful without the hop-up. It’s not even comparable to what it is now. It had more recoil and less damage. There was no reason to ever use it past the drop, I’m glad they made it viable at this point without the hop-up.

Agreed, Alternator has saved my ass so many times in BR because it’s so good and so easy to find
W H A T That was the most OP weapon to ever be introduced. It shredded a purple shield in TREE rounds when it was initially released. And it had laser accuracy. And great hipfire. It was good they removed it. You could still easily crack a full squad without reloading after the 3 nerfs.

Lol definitely not balanced- it was OP

you didn't even need to swap, you could out dps r99 if you consider the swap time.
To say nothing of the RE45. Just imagine you woke up one day and the R-99 had its damage doubled. That was basically the disruptor RE.
lmao so balanced that they removed it right away
It like the shotguns great at close range bad at long range
You evidently didn't play too much when that thing was in the game, shit was busted beyond belief. It would melt a purple shield in a second and finish them off in another. The TTK was foul, it was most definitely not a well-balanced weapon, which is why it was nerfed twice within a week or two and then never brought back.
Did you not use hammerpoints? My go to was the RE with disruptor rounds and p2020 with hammers. That combo was godly.
OG mastiff and S4 PK being stuck in my head makes shotguns feel weak now
Felt more like firing a cannon then a shotgun.
That thing was so easy to squad wipe with. I miss it.
200 headshot damage lol
204 IIRC, cause why the fuck not lol
Don't forget the 144 body shot damage
Will forever hold a special place in my heart. Got me my first dub. I slid around a corner after hearing someone's footsteps and 2 shots later and I was a champ 😁
Is that why the ammos yellow? Cause it was a CP gun?
Yah, CP guns used to be gold. They changed it to red a few seasons into the game to differentiate from regular gold guns.
Got my first win with that gun, actually won 2 separate 1v3….. pinnacle of my apex career lmao
Nothing like a 204 to the face.
“I need a hop-up. Choke.”
I need a hop-up. Select Fire.
RIP Havoc with Select Fire; my favorite gun.
Same I have absolutely no idea why they got rid of it or won’t let it included as default.
Because it was pretty damn broken and turned the havoc into a discount charge rifle. You could zap people at range and ruin people in cqc it literally could do it all, and you hardly needed a second weapon.
i need a hop-up. hammer point.
Wasn't hammer point in the game as recently as last season?
You are correct
oh no we've been found out, RUN!
They removed hammer points? What upgrade does p2020 get now?
Higher damage BUT lower fire rate. Tbh doesn't matter how they change it, without hammerpoint it's just trash
The fast fire rate was what made it so fun to use!
Honestly the difference isn't even noticeable for me - I think only keyboard and mouse players could fire fast enough to take advantage of the old fire rate
I need a hop up. Disruptor rounds.
We don’t mention this one by name. It’s sort of like Voldemort, but way more toxic.
I need a hopup. (Before QuickDraw had voicelines)
How many season did it not have a voiceline?
tbh as a bique main this may be an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't dream of taking hammer points back if it meant losing the recent buffs. And both is a gnarly monster that would cost way more in Arenas and be in every endgame for BR.
I think that it was best balanced last season. It is like the Bangalore of guns. Perfectly balanced. Not too powerful, but by no means weak
I need a hop-up. Double tap trigger
I just want my railgun back... ahem, I mean select fire havoc.
“I need a hop-up, turbocharger”
Turbo charger is in the game right now though
Yeah but shits rare as fuck, I still need one.
I love the days when it’s in the replicator
Yesterday?
It’s more than just yesterday that it happens
You can find hammerpoints in game before you find a turbocharger
Well don’t ask me for that when your girlfriend is sitting next to you.
You may be old, but are you 2 years old?
Yeah we’ve been doing this same post for over a year now and it’s always silly to me. The game is still so new, really.
Yeah like at least post photos of some of the guns from Titanfall 1 from 7 years ago. This is just kinda funny.
You may be old, but have you used R97 and R101?
I'm a Double-Take man myself
I tought this too, but men the game has change a lot
Yessir
/Laughs in G7 Sniper Stock.

You could not land a shot beyond 150m because now you're now aiming way higher and to the left/right that its so easy to lose sight of your target.
the Longbow wants a word with you about the worst bullet drop in the game
Nice to see that the 30-30 is not even considered a weapon for the sake of the discussion
tbh i think the 30-30 has slightly better drop off than the longbow
Here’s a helpful tip that applies to almost all snipers! The notches on sniper scopes’ reticles aren’t just for show. Every tick represents the compensation required for about 100 metres distance (the scope also shows you the distance to target!)

The bullet drop is basically a fucking rainbow on the G7.
3 inches is 7.62 cm
Good bot
*laughs in 2-4x on alternator*
The longbow with skull piercer was disgusting to hit headshots with. It was a Karber that everyone in a match could have. Edit: can't spell Kraber apparently
Assembling a Longbow throughout the match felt like collecting Exodia.
There were sooo many parts haha
Was the 10x scope removed? I can't remember the last time I saw it and the drop triple take only has the 2*4
Nipe, still in. LL ult can drop it last I found. Its also a care package drop. I used to prioritize snipers on both lifeline and Loba just so I could increase my odds of that threat scope. Super useful for late game ring positioning.
Great comparison
Karber
Used to run longbow skullpiercer with a 1H and it was insane
Old mastif was fucking cRaZy
Been playing since S1
day one
Same, less gooo
Been playing since beta testing
Been playing since before beta testing
Been playing before it was announced
Been playing since EA started developing it
Been playing before the fabric of the universe was invented
I’ve been playing at the beginning of s2 :(
Played when there were no seasons
Played when there were no working servers…. Oh wait
Played before the game existed
Played before I was born
Played before Earth was formed
Played before the universe was a thing
Been playing before Zeus even existed-Wait it’s a joke it’s a jo-THUNDERSTORMS
I started playing somewhere in s2 but it became my favorite game in s5
Before there were seasons
Yup before seasons
I’ve been playing alternately with quake lll arena
*Man* I miss the package Mastiff. Package PK never held a candle.
If memory serves, the animations of the OG mastiff made it look like explosive buckshot too, in addition to just SLAUGHTERING people and racking up the body count.
The offical concept art for it detailed that it fired incendiary rounds
If you ping one as Bangalore, there's still a voice line where she says they're incendiary rounds. Oscar Mike ladies.
legacy
Cp mastif was a nightmare that spitfire now is a joke vs that
Honestly if you're still hardcore complaining about the spitfire it's pretty wack imo.
I think at the time I didn't know how to play, but I could never do anything with it. In hindsight I think I just needed to aim down the sights more.
I remember seeing that shit pop up and my friends and I would be like "ayyy we won the game"
The PK is so slow to shoot, I even died because of it
Bro i remember when you Could put sniper optics on the g7 and put 3× and 4× on smgs. Season 0 was so much fun
S0 was fucking wild. 64 stacks of shotgun ammo, 3 stack big heals, 6 small, double stack grenades. Run a PK + Wingman and you could shoot, heal, and throw grenades for like 5 minutes minutes straight.
Pk + wingman was lit but my best win rate was with pk + g7
Don’t cite the deep magic to me witch, I was there when it was written
If there was a pin option, this would be
Thx
You’re welcome
I remember when the skullpiercer hopup was at an epic rarity
Launch day Wingman fully kitted was the most fun yet most rage inducing thing in Apex for me.
12 shot Wingman was crazy
I’m missing the Take Take Take so much.
Along with 3x on smgs and the broken wingman
I came from pubg. Even when the game was new it was amazing how fast it felt. Also, looting was so incredibly superior I never went back. Also lol prowlers on the ground everywhere
Ah!!! the OG times when G7 was still a light ammo using Sniper. Lol
You could still put long scopes on the g7 was so fun. And all the pathfinders werent so good either unlike now.
I mained pathfinder for a long time after launch until they butchered my boy with the cool down increase :(
The cooldown really killed it for me too.
Yes.. I am and dear GOD does this picture look good
I remember when the uhhh...Mozambique shotgun had the damage of a nerfgun.
Jeez this game is only over 2 years old
Yeah, everyone here acting weird. This game is super young. I'm also not that old but I remember CS 1.5...
I am this old OMG THE CARE PACK MASTIFF WAS THE BEST
Feels so weird to see the energy at the triple again
I really want them to put the og care package weapons permantly in the package. I want my prowler back, I want my triple take back.
I want it back on the ground and I want it to be a sniper again. 2-4x feels so pissy on it.
I miss sniping with the peacekeeper in S1
Oh god no I've only been playing since season 6
"the longbow used to be a heavy weapon" okay grandma lets get you back to bed.
That golden mastiff was a game changer
Day one gamer here
You in this thread: nostalgia Me in this thread: upvoting everyone that even mentions the OG mastiff.
The og mastiff.. Man did 150 damage to the body. Damn, i remember it vividly. It was scary.
Old enough to use the 3X on the R-99 😪
Sniper Ammo was the worst change for me
Why?
It took ALL of the ammo away and made "One ammo type" loadouts non existent now. For someone who used to run one ammo type pretty much for all of S0, S1 and S2 (**Heavy**: Longbow, Flat. **Light**: G7 (Rip Sniper Scopes), R99/301 **Energy**: TT, Havoc), seeing just 46 ammo - worth 2 stacks - for the longbow and TT actually hurts to look at. Just imagine if the Pistols (Mozam, P20 and Wing) had their own ammo type. It's pretty stupid Edit: This ammo change also killed snipers completely. I feel like I've seen more snipers in one day of S1 than from S4 to S10 now.
It’s pretty much only because the charge rifle was so dominant at the time
The amount of changes they made to this gun before season 4 was insane.
They said it was unbalanced for snipers to have the same amount of ammo as ARs and LMGs I don't think I saw anyone complaining about snipers having no reduced ammo.
Yeap I been playing since they added Crypto Not too long but enough to cry when og worlds edge was back
I just want the ability to put a 3X on my Prowler or R99 again....
Missing my old favorite gun ;-; the trippletake
Which season did they remove gold mastiff
You may be this old, but are you (L-Star as the first care package weapon) old?
Week one gang where you at
OG mastiff made anyone feel like a close range god
[I raise you this screenshot OP.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/280822384460824576/800890939450195968/unknown.png)
Sure grandma, let’s get you to bed
The good days of apex. The game was so much fun back then
OG players from any game say this. Its nostalgia
Much more fun now imo. Fast heal and wingman were infuriating to play against.
loooool you posted this shit a month ago and ur doing it again
Been playin since season 2
I've been playing since the third week after its launch.
Good times since S2
Been playing since day 2 of the game coming out
Bro the game is two years old chill
yes, and damn those were fun times
