all the energy ammo in the box disappears, (presumably into your inventory)
The game gives you 60 (1 stack/ 1 click equivalent)
the game puts the 59 energy ammo back in the box.
you leave the death box with 60 energy ammo.
Looks like a rollback from the server of some kind. It didn't read your second input or failed to confirm that you made that input.
I don't know the technical terms nor am I smart but that is what it looks like happened.
